Chapter 98 - The Test of Obedience

They ended my isolation on the thirtieth day.

Not because the Church had stopped calling for my purging—if anything, the chanting had grown louder, spreading to packs across Drevalon. Not because the political situation had stabilized—Mother spent every waking hour negotiating with Alphas who wanted assurance I wouldn't accidentally enslave them again.

No. They ended my isolation because Ronan demanded it.

"The boy can't hide forever," I'd heard him tell Mother through my chamber door. "Sooner or later he has to face the pack. Face the realm. And I need to know if he can submit to authority or if the power has made him incapable of acknowledging any wolf as superior."

"He's six years old," Mother had argued. "You can't—"

"He forced every wolf in Drevalon to kneel. Age stopped mattering the moment that happened." Ronan's voice was firm. "Either he can function within pack hierarchy, or he's too dangerous to live among us. I need to know which."
