All eyes focused on the whiny and high-pitched voice-----it was a girl with high and long pigtails, from light blue to deep navy blue hair; golden coins and chains as decorations all over her natural light-coloured silk robe.
There she went upstairs on stage, with a confident and smug face; she walked onto the stage with her hips swaying and sat down on the now repaired chair to wait for the sorting hat to be placed upon her head.
"...." Yup. The sorting hat has got no words to say. Who would anyway when they see something beyond human understanding?
"Miss....I believe...I see the Olymp--"
The sorting hat finally said something after 5 minutes.
"Hey~now. How dare you talk over a maiden's home? Where's the respect for girls who want nothing to do with stalkers? How ungentlemenly....Ugh, stupid hat. Hmpf." She crossed her arms together as she puffed her cheeks. So much like a chipmunk after stuffing food in their mouths.
Oh well....what could be worse at this point? We have weird girls who either cared nothing to sit on someone as a chair, or cared too much when she dodges every single social contact; then a guy who's big enough to damage Hogwarts's chairs and certainly the table. And now----a girl who might have something to do with Olympus if they didn't hear the sorting hat wrong?
".....I...suppose you are good at astronomy. RAVENCLAW!" Then the sorting hat forcefully shouted its answer. Poor hat, it has gone through stages of grief and self-doubting of what it has seen today through the heads of these students.
Still, the Ravenclaw table cheered for its newcomer whilst watching her sway her hips and make her way back down.
"Dreamy.....yet invigorating." A girl with platinum blonde hair watched her sit down not too far away from her, her eyes intense but gentle, like someone able to pierce through souls to understand one another in-depth.
"Like the moon herself. Ah, lovely." She tilted her head slightly as if studying Selene with interest. There she goes, Luna being Luna herself as she watches Selene mumble things similar to whines and gossip at the students next to her.
"Well, I understand it must have been torturous to endure the hunger." The headmaster stepped out as soon as Professor McGonagall had finished the list of sorting the new transfer students.
"So without further ado," the headmaster clapped his hands together with a serene smile on his face, "let the feast begin."
Piles and chunks of food materialized on the table at an instant, all served by house elves.
The great hall is again filled with laughter and happiness---especially for Ron, who now boldly pops his chocolate frog in his mouth before grabbing a handful of pumpkin juice and roasted beef in his hand as if the boy has starved for years.
Hermione shook her head with a wry smile; clearly she has been used to it by now, whilst Harry and the rest dig in as well.
"Here, try these," Aiden, being the care-taker gentle giant he is, has already pulled out his spare homemade food of roasted meat, then cut them into pieces before putting them in a big plate for everyone to pick from. "I just cooked these this morning." The Gryffindor table was instantly hit by the aroma of rosemary with butter, with the delicacy of vanilla-scented cream and rosy salt, covering roasted chicken wings. Massive ones at that.
"Wow, 5 minutes in after the sorting hat and I already love this guy." Fred took 2 immediately with both of his hands. "Best guy ever." George chimed in, also grabbing 2 with both of his hands like his brother.
Peak clearly with food in his mouth.
"Erm.... thanks, I suppose." Harry smiled awkwardly, but still there was hope for new friends behind those green eyes.
"Woah, watch it--my books are going to tear--!" Hermione said urgently as she quickly put her books down, saving them from being squashed. Though, there was a faint smile tugged around the corner of her lips.
Well, at least the trio and the twins enjoyed the giant's greeting and survived the squeeze.
"Well....so are you just going to sit on me for the rest of the day, or will you leave me some of my food?" Then Lorenzo smirks, "Not that I have anything against sharing food with a girl~."
For the Slytherins, it was not as heartwarming as the Gryffindor table---their possible new lazy queen, who now uses a student as a chair, decided to pick up his food and start eating whilst replying, "....eat your only piece of meat and shush." Frolava stuffed a roasted piece in his mouth, then continued eating his food as if it was hers.
The bold ones like Pansy and Mattheo are snickering under their breath as if trying to hold back their biggest amusement, whilst the other ones like Draco either scoffed with an eyeroll or busy themselves with the food in front of them.
"Hmpf. Not too bad, I guess." The pigtails on Selene's head sway to her back as she flicks it backwards. "Ha! At last, an institution with food that is actually edible."Oh well, at least it was peaceful at the Ravenclaw table, not as stiff as the Slytherin one. At least the goddess is enjoying herself with the mortal foods.
Meanwhile, the tiny girl in Hufflepuff has now already become the center of attention----one that she despises so much. "Here, try this out, it's my favourite!" "Yeah, you know, I started nervous too, but we now wear friendship bracelets and go to tea parties for fun!"
The students talked to Aurelia softly and eagerly, though now with a subtle space given to her after Cerdic's suggestion for giving her time to adjust and start slow.
Everyone is in harmony in the great hall. For once, Hogwarts is free from danger and occupied with serious matters; all has found a place of solace in this moment.
So let them enjoy while they can- when tomorrow holds a future no one knows of.
