Chapter 60 - Selling the Giant Mutant Beast

"A- rank..."

The receptionist's expression shifted the moment she heard Sam's voice. She turned her gaze toward the severed head of the mutant beast.

"Excuse me, sir, but what is the overall integrity of the carcass?"

Once she confirmed the approximate level of the creature, the receptionist directed her inquiry to Sam.

"Except for the head, other parts sustained no damage." Sam gestured toward the lobby. "Your lobby here can barely fit it, but it is not open enough."

"Understood. I have a grasp of the situation. A- rank mutant beast carcasses are exceptionally rare. I must consult with my superiors first. Please accept my apologies, sir."

Having said that, the receptionist produced a personal terminal and began dialing a number. The call connected quickly, and she started reporting the current circumstances.

Not long after, the receptionist lowered her terminal and spoke to Sam and the others.

"Sir, Madam, please follow me."

The receptionist stepped out from behind the desk and led them toward an elevator at the side of the lobby. The three entered the lift, and moments later, they arrived on the eleventh floor. As they stepped out, a woman was already standing at the doors waiting for their arrival.

"Hello. I am Lu Jianyi, Vice President of the Greenshade Source branch of the Mercenary Association. Xiao Li, you may head back. I will receive them personally."

"Understood. I shall take my leave then."

The receptionist girl, Xiao Li, bowed to the three after receiving her orders, then turned and stepped back into the elevator.

"You are here to sell an A- rank mutant beast carcass, correct?" Lu Jianyi asked, turning her gaze toward Sam's group once Xiao Li departed.

Firefly did not answer the question directly. Instead, she looked around the surroundings before speaking slowly.

"This place seems even smaller than the lobby on the first floor. Where do you intend to store the carcass?"

Though she offered no direct confirmation, the remark served as an obvious enough reply.

"You need not worry about that."

Lu Jianyi picked up a device resembling a remote control. With a press of a button, a door radiating a faint blue-purple light opened.

"This is a Compressed Space developed by our Mercenary Association. It creates a vast expanse within a limited physical area. You may place the carcass inside, and we will have professionals conduct a value assessment."

Lu Jianyi stepped inside first.

'Space compression technology? I only saw this in games in my past life. I wonder what it's actually like in reality.'

Driven by curiosity, Firefly led Ye Yunzhi into the room shimmering with blue-purple light. After passing through the barrier, the sight before her left Firefly somewhat stunned.

From the outside, the room should have been the size of an ordinary office. However, once inside, Firefly saw a massive, open space resembling a training ground. By her estimate, it was at least as large as a football field and over twenty meters high. The sheer area was staggering. It was hard to imagine such internal structure belonged to what looked like a small room from the outside.

"Ugh..."

Before Firefly could fully recover from her shock, a dry heave interrupted her thoughts. The sound came from beside her. She looked down and saw Ye Yunzhi, whose complexion looked quite poor.

"It seems your friend is entering a Compressed Space for the first time."

Lu Jianyi let out a light chuckle at the sight.

"Due to the unique nature of compressed space, most first-timers experience dizziness and nausea because their brains cannot adapt to the sudden spatial shift. Even A+ rank powerhouses feel slight discomfort. Your friend's reaction is perfectly normal."

'So that's how it is. But I don't feel any discomfort at all. As expected, if one's strength is great enough, many unpleasant things can be avoided.'

Firefly reflected on this while sensing the power within her body. She shifted her gaze away from Ye Yunzhi and moved to an open area. She retrieved the head and body of the giant spider from the system backpack and placed them on the ground.

"This is the carcass." Firefly pointed at the massive spider, which stood over ten meters tall.

"Understood. One moment, sir."

Lu Jianyi nodded. At her signal, a hovering robot drifted up from a corner of the training ground. The robot moved above the spider, its eyes glowing with blue light as it scanned the creature from top to bottom.

Soon, a projection appeared on the wall, and a mechanical voice announced the results.

[Giant Mutant Spider. Strength: A- rank. Carapace underwent an unknown beneficial mutation, allowing the beast to significantly mitigate damage from both Lightning and Fire attributes. Quality: Extremely Rare. Legs and carapace remain perfectly intact, allowing for extensive processing. Overall value is very high. Current estimated price: 1.4 million Credits or more. Including the A- rank Xenocrystal, total value reaches 2.4 million Credits. Note: This is a brief summary. Please refer to the analysis report for detailed specifications.]

'2.4 million Credits? That much?!'

Firefly's eyes widened in disbelief. However, because she was inside Sam, she appeared entirely unfazed to outsiders. She originally thought a million would be a lot; she never expected the price to jump straight to over two million.

Truly! One-shotting it with a single punch was the right choice. If she accidentally damaged the body, how much money would she have lost?

"Sir, do you wish to proceed with the sale?"

Lu Jianyi's voice pulled her back from her thoughts of money. Firefly nodded quickly, indicating her intent to sell.

"Very well." Lu Jianyi smiled and took out her terminal. "I will add your terminal and transfer the Credits."

The process of adding the contact and transferring the funds followed. Soon, a massive sum of 2.4 million Credits was added to her balance.

"There. Please take this."

After completing the transaction, Lu Jianyi handed a platinum-colored card to Sam.

"This is a Platinum Membership Card for our Mercenary Association. Holders receive a 20% discount on all purchases here. Additionally, all processing fees for selling items or posting commissions are waived. Furthermore, this card includes a free annual credit limit of 100,000 Credits for you to spend as you wish."

"Fine."

Firefly accepted the card. Since her first goal was accomplished, she brought up her second reason for visiting.

"What are the requirements if I wish to accept commissions here?"
