The car soon arrived at the bride's apartment building. Liu Yan stepped out and headed upstairs, while Wang Zheng lingered below, watching her reluctantly. Feeling his intense gaze, Liu Yan recalled how she had snapped at him in the car, leaving him speechless and intimidated. A faint smile crossed her lips. "Hurry up," she called back. "They're waiting for you to join the groom's party!"
Seeing her radiant, peach-blossom-like smile, Wang Zheng's heart stirred. He shouted, "Alright, I'll pick you up later!" Instantly, his face paled as he realized his mistake. The groom picks up the bride—saying he'd pick up Liu Yan made it sound like they were getting married. Noticing his embarrassed silence, Liu Yan gave a wry smile. "Just go," she said, then turned and disappeared around the stairwell.
At the bride's apartment, Liu Yan found the place buzzing with activity. Weddings always drew a crowd—relatives, friends, and neighbors filled the space with lively chatter.
"Liu Yan, you're here! I've got your bridesmaid dress ready," called the bride, Zhang Jie, from inside the room.
"Wow, the bride's stunning today," Liu Yan teased.
"Stop it! With a beauty like you as my bridesmaid, no one's looking at me," Zhang Jie laughed. "Hurry and change—the wedding party's almost here."
"There's a bridesmaid dress?" Liu Yan asked, walking to the bed to inspect it. The dress was a strapless mini gown with pink bows on the shoulders. It was pretty but short—too short for comfort. Still, she figured, I'm just standing beside the bride. No big movements, no risk of flashing anyone.
"Don't just stand there, Liu Yan! Change already. Oh, and those white heels by the bed are yours too," Zhang Jie urged.
"Got it," Liu Yan replied, grabbing the dress and shoes and heading to the changing room.
Luckily, her bra straps were thin enough to work with the strapless dress. The skirt, however, barely reached mid-thigh. If I'm not careful, I could end up showing too much, she thought. But with no time to dwell, she changed quickly.
Slipping off her white silk dress, Liu Yan put on the bridesmaid gown and white heels. Standing before the mirror, she noticed the dress was slightly tight. The low neckline revealed a hint of cleavage, the tight fabric accentuating her full figure. Her slender arms and long, graceful legs completed the look. She couldn't help but admire the sultry reflection staring back at her.
Stepping out, Liu Yan felt every man in the room staring—some at her chest, others at her legs. Their intense gazes made her uneasy.
"Liu Yan, you're stealing the show," Zhang Jie whispered, half-joking, half-envious. Liu Yan glanced at the bride's outfit and quipped, "You're one to talk. Your dress shows more than anyone's. Not worried about all those eyes?"
Zhang Jie wore a red, modern Chinese-style wedding dress with a deep neckline that revealed much of her chest. The high waist cinched tightly, pushing her full bust upward, creating a striking silhouette. "It's my one chance to shine before motherhood takes over," Zhang Jie said with a grin. "This style's custom-made from the city—pretty chic, right?"
Liu Yan couldn't help but steal another glance. Zhang Jie's chest, just one cup size smaller than her own, was far more exposed, drawing attention with every breath.
Their banter was cut short by the crackle of firecrackers outside—the groom's party had arrived. A bridesmaid quickly shut the door. Soon, the groom's group reached the apartment, and the groom, Geng Jia, called out, "Darling, I'm here for you!" The bridesmaids inside shouted back, "Open the door for joy—red envelopes first!"
After Geng Jia slipped over twenty red envelopes through the door, the bridesmaids opened it. The groom and his groomsmen poured in, the spacious room accommodating the crowd comfortably. Surrounded by his groomsmen, Geng Jia knelt on one knee, holding a bouquet of flowers. "Zhang Jie, will you marry me?" he declared. Zhang Jie, beaming, accepted the flowers and shared a tender kiss with him as the videographer captured the joyful moment.
