Chapter 4 - Three Buddhist Paths

Zhangyu looked satisfied at this younger brother who listened to him and patted his shoulder "Good! Good junior, really good!

Alright, you don't have to focus on the ferocious beasts just yet.

Take your time to gain control over the clans for now, tell them about the merit there is to get, and then go to the northeastern border of the western region.

You can also kill all the ferocious beasts in the western region if you haven't done that just yet."

After saying so, Zhangyu gave a few more tips before setting off.

He had more goals and couldn't be stopped by these small things.

As a late grand unity golden immortal, his next step was to focus his three dao flowers of essence, soul and law into a law seed.

"I still haven't decided which to take… the merit law given with my birth and the future expectation of becoming one of the Buddhist ancestors, or the vastness law of the octopus clan, that allows for one to learn various laws, especially eight, to form them together into one greater law."

In his thoughts, he was slightly stuck.

The former, merit law, was already a greater law and could be comprehended until at least the Great Primordial Golden Immortal, meanwhile, smaller laws only had a guarantee to the Primordial Golden Immortal stage, and further cultivation requires refinement and opportunity.

Of course as the vastness law, it had the foundation to become a greater law, much better than other laws that stop fully.

"Then again, why do I have to choose? Since the vastness law allows me to combine eight laws, I should put my effort into learning more laws, rather than contemplating on what to choose!"

In fact, this was his decision long ago, but he had just never found appropriate laws to comprehend, so he was still thinking about going the pure merit law.

"But even my future younger brothers, Jieyin and Zhunti, didn't learn the merit law. Jieyin learned the dream law and emotions law, combining them to create the holy pure land of the west, which later earned him the Amitabha Buddha name.

Zhunti on the other hand focused more on the teaching law. Although he used the merit law deeper than Jieyin, in the end, he still created the teaching law based on his own enlightenment law.

Unlike Jieyin who combined laws to become a heavenly sage, he truly created a brand new law based on his own innate law.

Later on, Jieyin's path became the Mahayana Buddhism branch, and Zhunti's law became the Theravada Buddhism. The former aims to become a bodhisattva and help all people escape suffering, while the latter is the oldest path that combines teaching and learning to become a buddha.

As for Vajrayana, this one is a unique path formed when Buddhism became stronger. It generally has the feature of fast enlightenment.

Later on, it became the path of those that converted to Buddhism, at least initially.

Everyone could become an Arhat quickly through Vajrayana, and then reach Buddhahood through deep efforts.

Historically, only the most talented could take this seemingly easy path.

Its position is no less than those of the other paths created by the two buddhist ancestors – the first sect leader of Buddhism, the Tathagata, was a converted innate sacred.

In the end, it can be seen that all three paths are essential, but do they really fit my path?

Vajrayana can be ignored for now – that is the path of those that reach enlightenment through other paths to become buddhas, essentially they are the most complex branch of Buddhahood.

Then what remains are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

In the end, the most stable formation is three, so there is one ancestral branch of Buddhism missing here…

Initially, this should've been my responsibility. I can only say that the heavenly dao and Hongjun really did Buddhism bad by killing me in advance…"

How could he not know his own importance?

There are three taoist ancestors in the east, naturally there have to be three buddhist ancestors in the west!

On top of that, the east's reincarnated chaos god, Hongjun, although scheming, still helped the three pure ones.

Their western reincarnated chaos god, Louhou, just hoped they all died earlier and gave him the western region as fast as possible.

"Well, maybe I'm judging a book by its cover too much!

I should talk to Louhou a bit more, and maybe he'll be fine leaving on his own!

Anyways, his demon clan isn't fit for the physical world at all. Why can't he just create a sub-space and create the scene of demons invading the world?

Wouldn't that be more interesting? Do you have to destroy the world directly?

Then again, a sub-space isn't as expansive as the primordial world itself!

It's fine, he just needs a bit of consultation to take this path!"

"Who needs consultation?" a voice suddenly sounded from far away, arriving in front of Zhangyu in just a few moments.

"Louhou!" Zhangyu exclaimed, then suddenly realised… of course this guy would come.

He just created such a large commotion, how could this petty guy allow others to benefit without getting anything himself?

"You seem to know me!" the demon ancestor looked at this guy with a smile. He had seen him thousands of years ago, outside his mountain, but he didn't pay much attention.

There were so many innate sacred that would visit his mountain to see.

Some joined him in the end, others ran away as fast as possible.

Meanwhile, Zhangyu was more focused on the strong aura of this demon ancestor.

Feeling his power, he seemed to be a late-stage grand unity golden immortal, but he was much closer to the peak than he was.

He gave off strong power and an aura of evil – it wasn't destruction, but more like a power that could awaken the innate evil of all beings.

Even he felt a bit of murderous intent all of a sudden.

He snorted, spreading his own aura.

A golden cloud formed behind him, Buddha rhythm sounded, two golden fish formed out of merit, swimming happily in the golden cloud, dispersing all the evil thoughts that were generated.

This was one of his eight innate merit treasures – the twin golden fish!

They represented the happiness and freedom of all beings after escaping the cycle of endless suffering.

Such happiness instantly supressed all evil thoughts, and it even seemed like Louhou was slightly affected, removing some of his grim aura.

"Taking out a treasure to defend against me, aren't you trying to provoke me?!" Louhou suddenly became a bit angry.

He hadn't even actively used his aura, that was passive, so why was this guy using a treasure!

Zhangyu looked at him like he was an idiot "If you have a treasure, take out yours too."

Of course he knew he didn't have such a treasure.

The four immortal killing swords and the formation plate were actually formed from the god killing spear. They are basically a degenerated version, although it allowed greater flexibility and defense, its power was a lot weaker.

In the fight against Shen Ni, he used the god killing sword to fight over five supreme innate sacred, sometimes its said to be ten, sometimes a hundred.

After all, we only know of the winners, not of those that died.
