Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Hello, this is Demian Andromalius. I'm currently sorting through documents.

I'm in the office of the mansion, where Seria and I handle our duties. You might think something enjoyable would happen with just the two of us, but it's best not to get your hopes up. More than that, there's a mountain of work piled up. It's better to process even one document in that time.

Becoming the Lord has meant a lot more work. Even though this place is located in a rather remote corner of the Underworld, the documents are endless. From taxes to business applications, residential transfers, electricity supply, and budget confirmations for each subordinate institution. You have to do all sorts of things. Even though Seria handles about half of it, the sheer volume is exhausting nonetheless.

Fortunately, our job ends with processing the documents. The problem is the number of documents, but the subsequent tasks are mostly handled by other departments. I suddenly respect my father, wondering how he managed all this when he was the Lord. Ah, my parents retired from their positions as Lord and Lady and are living happily and healthily together in a villa in the Andromalius Territory. I visit them occasionally.

"Haa..."

I sigh and stretch, taking a break after finishing about half of the work. Looking at Seria, she's still working diligently. It would be good for her to rest a little, but she always works so hard. It makes me resolve to work harder myself.

"Are you tired?"

Seria asks. I shake my head and pick up my pen again.

"The documents aren't finished yet. I need to sort them out quickly."

"You can entrust some of it to me."

"I shouldn't push work onto my subordinate. I can't allow that as a superior."

I mean it sincerely. Knowing the hardships my father, who was a company employee in his previous life, went through, I can never do such a trashy thing as a superior, pushing work onto my subordinates. No matter what, those guys who push work onto their subordinates and then act like they've finished their own tasks are truly awful. I hate them. I don't want to become like those guys.

I start processing the work again. I want to finish at least half of it before lunch, but when will it end? Hmm? Rione? What kind of mess are you trying to make by entrusting work to that foolish familiar? It would be a relief if she didn't turn the documents into ice sculptures.

The Andromalius Territory is more famous than the capital Luciferd within the Underworld. The great hero of the Underworld, Demian Andromalius, the 'Noblesse,' and his two trusted heroes, Seria Ose, the 'Black and White Twin Wings' and Rione, the 'White Night Demonic Dragon' contribute to its fame, but something else enhances its reputation.

There's a saying in the Underworld: 'The Andromalius Territory is half a century ahead of the world.' What does this mean? It means that the level of civilization in the Andromalius Territory is several times more advanced than other regions of the Underworld.

The Andromalius Territory, boasting a vast size equivalent to the North American continent, is a paradise for all industries. The primary industry has developed in areas rich in nature, such as plains, mountains, seas, rivers, and forests. The secondary industry has developed around large-scale mines and oil fields. The tertiary industry has developed around Demis, the Domain Road. With all industries evenly developed, the Andromalius Territory has achieved an incredible level of advancement.

However, what has enabled them to achieve this level of development is the creed of the Andromalius Territory: 'Everyone has their own rights, and everyone can enjoy those rights.' This is an extremely innovative and revolutionary creed, one that seems strange in the vertically structured class society of the Underworld. When this creed was first put forward, all the Upper demons treated Demian like a fool. However, it soon turned to astonishment.

By simultaneously embracing science and magic, they created a new discipline called Magical Science, leading to tremendous advancements. Originally, science and magic were both looked down upon in the human realm and the Underworld alike. Amidst the prevailing sentiment that scientists were lowly beings who handled oil and lumps of iron, and magicians were weaklings who arbitrarily used the powers of demons, Demian simultaneously embraced and combined the despised science and magic, achieving development through the interaction of magic and science.

At the same time, the pure fields of science and magic also developed rapidly, achieving tremendous advancements compared to other regions. They supported each other's shortcomings, leading to rapid development. Above all, the absence of prejudice and discrimination against magicians and scientists motivated them. As a result, while other regions were living in a medieval era at the 15th-century level, they had already undergone the industrial revolution and developed up to the tertiary industry.

There was also another difference: the abolition of discrimination against Lower demons and Intermediate demons and the start of providing them with higher education. At that time, it was an era when people said, 'If you teach the heads of the lower beings, they will surely climb over you,' so Lower demons and Intermediate demons had no choice but to crawl at the words of Upper demons. However, in the Andromalius Territory, they overturned that idea and built schools where Lower demons and Intermediate demons could learn and receive education. They also opened the way to the higher echelons, allowing Lower demons and Intermediate demons to dream of reaching high places.

As a result, numerous talented individuals were born, not only in science and magic but also entertainers and artists who deal with culture and art, researchers who study nature and ecology, soldiers who protect the territory, police who protect civilians, and lawyers who defend defendants according to the law. As a result, the Andromalius Territory developed even further and was able to achieve an incredible level of civilization. Currently, the human realm has achieved tremendous development in the 21st century, but the Andromalius Territory had already achieved that civilization and was finishing eco-friendly urbanization that considered nature.

Amidst the achievement of such a vast civilization, Demian's position has never been threatened. No, it couldn't be. First of all, there's Demian's own power, but his virtuous governance has captivated all those who live in the Andromalius Territory and made them support him. It's said that if he were to step down against his will, the entire Andromalius Territory would collapse, which says it all. Rather, they feared that someone other than him would stand above them. They couldn't possibly allow a wicked person who would discriminate against them like other Upper demons to appear. They are already well-fed and warm, so they can't afford to ruin everything by trying to reverse the situation in one fell swoop.

The Andromalius Territory, which is half a century ahead in civilization, had Upper demons from other regions who initially had no interest in it, but upon seeing its dazzling development, their eyes widened to the point of popping out. The Andromalius Territory, which has achieved tremendous development in all aspects, has been rewarded with an endlessly sweet and excellent outcome through the revolutionary idea of accepting science and magic, which they had despised, and abolishing class discrimination. The Andromalius Territory has become a vast civilization zone that can no longer be ignored.

So, other Upper demons tried to follow the level of the Andromalius Territory, but they never succeeded. They couldn't accept the idea of completely abolishing class discrimination. Accepting magic and science is also a problem. Can those who have been despised and considered insignificant suddenly produce something just because they are told to make something?

The reason this method succeeded in the Andromalius Territory was, after all, the active investment in magic and science. By providing research facilities and equipment as sufficiently as possible, they were able to continue their research quickly based on active investment in magic and science. However, what the Upper demons of other regions did was simply call scientists and magicians and order them to 'make something,' without any research funding or anything. How could they do it in that way? In the end, the Upper demons were just pacing around anxiously. But the rate of development in the Andromalius Territory was abnormal.

Above all, what widened the gap was the education of Lower demons and Intermediate demons. It was a challenge from the start for them to establish schools and teach something without even preparing a curriculum or teachers properly.

It's even more impossible for the teachers of aristocratic schools to teach them. Nobles usually learn before entering school. Therefore, the level of teaching is different from the start. Teaching from the beginning and teaching those who already know something are on different levels. Moreover, there's no way those who have lived as nobles can teach students who are below them in rank.

In conclusion, those who are destined to succeed will succeed no matter what they do.
