Chapter 61 - 61. Across Goodbyes and Hellos.

Peter POV:

The dawn in Gwen's Earth-65-B was heavy with mist, as if the city itself mourned and healed all at once. Behind the hospital, in the stillness of a private courtyard, the farewell began.

Me, Gwendolyn and Captain Stacy stood across from the family that had once thought itself broken beyond repair. Aunt May and Uncle Ben of this world, Lieutenant Stacy with Gwen and Scarred Peter by his side, still carrying the tremors of a second life.

I spoke first. My voice carried both command and quiet grief. "You've all been through something no family should endure. But if Peter is to walk forward in this world, he needs more than hope. He needs tools."

I went to the trunk of the car and a case unfolded at Scarred Peter's feet, glowing with faint blue light. Within lay schematics, alloys and vials that seemed plucked from futures not yet written.

"This is nuclear pinch fusion tech. Power-armor frameworks. Adaptive AI. A diluted Regen serum and it's formulation. Even the beginnings of my nanotech. They're not for war. They're for survival. The day will come when you'll need them and this time, you won't be unprepared."

Scarred Peter's lips trembled. "Why give this to me? After everything, why trust me?"

I stepped close, resting a gauntlet on his shoulder. "Because you've already carried the worst of burdens. Guilt. Don't let it consume you. Be like a plane, Peter. Birds fly alone. A plane carries the people it loves through the storm. That's the difference. That's the legacy."

Scarred Peter swallowed hard, then embraced him. In that quiet closeness, unseen by anyone else, I slipped two small and impossibly dense objects into scarred Peter's pocket. I said nothing, only let the moment stand.

When me and my companions were preparing to part through the portal, Gwen stepped forward to her dad. He cupped her face, whispering with a rawness that cut through accumulated grief. "You'll always be my daughter. No matter what mask you wear."

Gwen wept into his chest, an entire year of silence finally broken.

Captain Stacy clasped his counterpart's shoulder. "Don't waste this second chance. Be the father she needs. To both of them."

And then the portal shimmered open, its glow bathing them all. With one last nod, the travelers stepped into the car and passed through, leaving behind the family they had helped mend.

I blinked as the HUD inside my visor filled with schematics and glowing blueprints. The weight of power settled heavy in my chest not as triumph but as responsibility multiplied a thousandfold.

Brooklyn, Earth-1610

The screen cut to black. Then music.

"Alright, let's do this one last time." Miles Morales's voice carried over shots of his life. His school, his sketchbook filled with drawings of his extra dimensional friends, his leap of faith. His narration swelled, warm and sure as he swung through the city.

"My name is Miles Morales. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. And for the last...."

A pop of dimensional static cut him off. Right in the middle of his monologue, a glowing rift opened above the rooftops and my head and shoulders shoved through.

"Yeah, yeah, kid, you're Spider-Man, we get it. Save the speech. Here."

He tossed a sleek black and glowing violet watch. A Dimensional Stabilization Watch straight into Miles's hands.

Miles flailed mid-swing, nearly crashing into a billboard. "Hey! I was doing a thing here!"

I ignored him, already glitching back into the rift. "You'll need it. Future emergencies. Don't ask."

And just like that, I was gone. The portal snapped shut, leaving Miles suspended on a lamppost, staring at the watch glowing faintly in his palm.

"…Rude." He muttered.

From below, a familiar voice called.

"Spider-Man!"

Lieutenant Jefferson stood with his arms crossed, looking up at him. "That guy who just popped out of nowhere. You know him?"

Miles adjusted the new watch onto his wrist, the weight of it pressing heavier than he wanted to admit. He shook his head, mask hiding the flicker of doubt in his eyes.

"Technically yes but I like to say no." He said honestly. "But… I think he doesn't care."

"I got my eyes on you." Said Lieutenant Jefferson while making the ' I'm watching you ' gesture.

" Counting on it Lieutenant!!!" Yelled Spider-Man as he swung away.

The city lights blazed behind him, unaware that a new story had just begun.
