Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Isn't he cute?

The warm-toned scene only stirred Lord Green's heart for a moment.

There were some things Lord Green couldn't immediately adapt to in a short time.

Kalaiya's appearance, in Lord Green's memory, was still that of a timid little girl who followed Ms. Suranamore than a year ago.

First, he marveled at the rapid development speed of this world.

What was Lord Green thinking at this moment?

In reality, Lord Green's main point was that the castle's security measures needed to be strengthened. No matter how high Lord Green's vigilance was, or how much he trusted his own combat prowess, there was no sense in relying on personal alertness to guard against thieves every day; it was foolish and would lead to exhaustion.

Important personnel and locations within the Klaeb Territory should all have enhanced security protection.

Beware of a vulnerable neck; a dagger could suddenly slice across it.

When he had the spare capacity, he needed to purchase some Unsullied to act as guards.

The Unsullied were reliable.

Keep two Unsullied on duty outside the door at all times.

A fantasy from a poor lord.

Lord Green showed a slight smile: "Kalaiya, it's been a while. Ms. Surana, has she started assigning you tasks?"

"I want to be your maid, but my mother thinks I'm not mature enough and needs more training for a while. Once she's satisfied, she'll arrange for me to be by your side."

"But I couldn't wait and came directly to you. Please forgive my recklessness."

It was reasonable and well-founded. Ms. Surana was dutiful, and Kalaiya's seemingly reckless behavior was also to show loyalty to her lord. As a family member of a trusted confidant, she wouldn't be blamed.

Lord Green had soaked long enough and, with Kalaiya's service, put on his bathrobe.

Lord Green took the red wine Kalaiya handed him, took a sip, and his brows naturally furrowed.

Sour red wine, one of the specialties of Klaeb Territory.

He didn't know how it was brewed to be so sour.

Was it a problem with the grape variety?

Good-tasting red wine needed to be imported, which was too expensive, so he just made do with what he had.

Hmm, upon deeper taste, the flavor was actually quite alright... Lord Green didn't want to drink anymore and put down the wine glass.

Lord Green had one more reason to contend for supremacy.

A night passed without incident.

Lord Green first arranged for Kalaiya to follow Maester Al.

Maester Al was too old, walking with a tremor, and Lord Green was very concerned about Maester Al's life.

If the lord's maester passed away, the Citadel would immediately arrange for a new maester to replace him. The Citadel was too far, and the blank period would be at least three months, and only Maester Alin Whispering City could send raven messages.

This included the daily feeding and management of the ravens.

Raven messages were the most important means of communication, and Lord Green took them very seriously.

All of the above were parts that Kalaiya needed to learn and master.

Lord Green had too many things to do, and a shortage of talent. The literate Kalaiya was a rare find.

Most importantly, Kalaiya was reliable and trustworthy.

Knight Mason finally returned.

According to the statistics, there were a total of 13 blacksmiths and 32 carpenters, a slightly higher number, within the Klaeb Territory.

Apprentices should be arranged simultaneously, with processes separated. By starting with learning only one process, progress would be very fast.

The basic framework for the factory was barely sufficient.

In response to the lord's summons, these craftsmen would bring their families and relocate one by one.

Herschel, the Grand Steward of Whispering City, was responsible for their settlement.

Whispering City, Lord's Study.

Lord Green, Knight Pel, Knight Mason, and Maester Alheld a military meeting regarding the Mountain Barbarians.

Lord Green's original plan was to tire out the enemy and use fire to resolve the barbarians without casualties.

There were many dry grass areas around, perfect for setting fire, and those near water sources could also be cultivated.

Regarding the details of the war, Lord Green's memory mainly consisted of him, under his mother's command, leading a group of people to kill stragglers.

Lord Green listened to their statements and summarized for himself that while other places were still unknown, fighting here was somewhat like arranging a duel.

Lightly would send people to negotiate; if war was unavoidable, they would set a time and place.

At the agreed time and place, the two groups would then fight.

It was a duel!

Lord Green tapped the table a few times, attracting the attention of those present.

"Ser Pello, I will have Herschel prepare shields, longswords, bows, and arrows for you, as well as 10 Clan Soldiers. You will then conscript 90 more people, primarily focusing on experienced hunters."

"After completion, you will have a total of 100 men under your command."

"...They will be named the Survey Corps, and you will be its first Corps Commander."

"Find more people who are familiar with the terrain. While Mason and I are fighting the Mountain Barbarians, I hope you are already guests in their homes."

"I've had enough of the barbarians' harassment. This time, I will wipe them out."

"I need a large number of captives. The Klaeb Territory's construction requires a large population. The more captives, the greater your merit."

The method of warfare was slightly more complex than in the past, but it was not difficult to understand, and Knight Pel grasped it quickly.

Knight Pel solemnly accepted the order.

Maester Al spoke tremblingly: "Lord Green, I have a map. When I have free time, I always keep an eye on news of the barbarians. These past years, I have been organizing and recording. The barbarians' activity areas and the locations of their lairs are marked on the map. There might be some discrepancies, but the general outline won't be wrong. I hope it can help you."

Lord Green placed his palm on his chest and solemnly said: "Thank you for your contribution, Maester Al. House Clebber will never forget your merit."

King's Landing, Red Keep.

Cersei Lannister clutched a letter, greedily enjoying Jaime Lannister's caresses.

After a long while, Cersei Lannister rose and picked up a red robe from beside her, draping it over herself.

At over thirty years old, Cersei Lannister was still regally beautiful.

Cersei Lannister picked up the wine jug, filled a cup, and took a large sip of red wine to relieve the dryness in her throat.

Watching Cersei Lannister pick up the letter again to read it, Jaime Lannister revealed a doting smile.

Jaime Lannister's smile always carried a sense of high spirits.

"That kid is just a flatterer."

Cersei Lannister's lips curved upwards, habitually tilting her sharp, delicate chin slightly when she spoke.

"Jaime, you don't understand me, but he does."

Courage and beauty combined in one person; I like this beginning.

Jaime said helplessly: "That kid is not honest at all."

Cersei walked in front of Jaime, stroking his handsome face, and said with a smile: "Jaime, you're not jealous of a child, are you? My dress should really be worn by you."

Jaime Lannister disdained to answer the question of whether he was jealous.

"Are you planning to bring him along for this hunt?"

"He's very cute, isn't he?"
