Selene's POV
When I woke again, it was to the faint sound of rain tapping against the windowpanes, soft, rhythmic, and strangely soothing. My body felt heavier than before, yet my mind was clearer, as if a veil had been lifted. My eyes blurry, but everything around me shimmered with something different, I looked around, every object and even Lucian carried a thin thread of moonlight only I could see. As i hasn't fully opened my eyes.
Lucian was still there beside me, seated in the armchair near the bed, his head bent slightly, his hand holding mine. His eyes were closed, his long lashes shadowing the dark bruises beneath them. He hadn't rested in days. The sight of him like that, strong, fierce Alpha of Moonfang, now fragile in exhaustion, pulled at my chest
My body felt different, heavier, but not in a painful way. More like I had been dipped in moonlight and pulled back into my skin. My muscles were slow to obey, my eyelids reluctant to lift.
