Chapter 36 - KRYPT-Ch.36: Mate, You Just Saved Your Life

Matthew Atkinson & Natalie Russell

First Layer of the Supernatural Realm

The first cage was pushed to the edge of the thick fog by the monsters.

Then, the monsters ran away quickly.

It looked like they were afraid that if they ran too slowly, they would be taken as a sacrifice by the creatures in the thick fog!

This showed that these monsters had not lost their minds when they transformed; at least they know how to be afraid.

In addition, it was evident from this point that the creatures in the thick fog outside were not the same species as the monsters in the city. They were probably much stronger and higher in status.

Otherwise, the monsters wouldn't be so scared!

Matthew guessed that the creatures in the thick fog outside should be the Moon Goddess's followers.

And the monsters in the city were just the lowest-level believers.

Suddenly, a tentacle as thick as a bucket emerged from the dense fog, wrapped around the iron cage, and quickly dragged it away.

The iron cage was dragged into the thick fog, and soon, the desperate screams of the people were heard.

The monsters remained indifferent and pushed the second iron cage.

The second cage contained Filip Walker, Denis Read, and their other two teammates.

This time, Matthew did not wait any longer. He exchanged glances with Natalie, and the two of them squeezed forward, quickly arriving at the front and ready to attack.

Natalie planned to save people before fighting monsters!

She thought there were too many monsters here, and it would be beyond the ability of just her and Matthew to deal with them.

Rescuing people and having more friendly forces could help share some of the pressure.

Even though Matthew had shown some strength in the tavern before, the girl still didn't think that Matthew's strength could be stronger than hers.

That was why she planned this more risk-free plan.

Although Matthew felt this was unnecessary, he respected the girl's choice and agreed.

"Help! Someone, please save us! I don't want to die here..."

"Mom! Mom! I miss you so much..."

In the cage, Filip Walker burst into tears, crying incoherently for help.

Come to think of it, this guy was the captain among the four, but when faced with life and death, he performed the worst.

Although his teammates were also scared and crying, they were not behaving as shamefully as he was.

The best among them was Denis Read, who had Colossus's Bloodline.

The guy's face also turned pale with fright, but he managed to remain calm, clenching his fists and preparing to fight.

Seemed like no matter what creatures were in the fog, he would not sit idly by and wait for death.

Then, Denis Read suddenly looked like he saw something, and his eyes widened.

Not only Denis Read, but also Filip Walker, who was crying bitterly, saw it.

Natalie had just deliberately raised her head and looked at them, revealing her face.

The girl did this to give them a signal so they would later cooperate well with them.

Unexpectedly, Filip Walker, this useless guy, was like a drowning man grabbing a life-saving straw when he saw Natalie. He just wanted to survive and didn't care about anything else.

He actually stared in Natalie's direction and shouted for help.

"Natalie, save me, save me..."

The rest of the words were not uttered because Denis Read reacted quickly and covered the waste's mouth in time.

Then, without looking at Natalie, Denis Read suddenly started singing loudly!

"Don't worry about me..."

"My comrades..."

"This place is more dangerous than you think..."

"You have a more important mission..."

This was a tragic song, composed by a general before his death on a foreign battlefield.

But the lyrics were not like that.

It was evident that Denis Read deliberately changed the lyrics to convey a message.

Natalie was a smart person. She knew as soon as she heard that Denis Read was warning her.

'More dangerous than you think?'

'What does Denis Read mean?'

Matthew naturally realized the warning and was a little surprised at the same time!

This guy... was about to die, but he still considered others and reminded Natalie to be careful and not to save them.

He had a pretty good character!

'Mate. With those words, you saved your life tonight. I will make sure of that.' Matthew thought.

At the moment, the cage was almost pushed to the edge of the thick fog.

Despite Denis Read's warning, Natalie made a prompt decision and acted first.

Before leaving, she whispered to Matthew, "Something's not right. Don't move. I'll go and try to save them first."

After her words fell, Natalie rushed out.

She raised her hands as she ran towards the cage.

A huge fireball suddenly appeared on her palm, illuminating the surroundings.

The next moment, the fireball whizzed past and hit the monsters pushing the cage directly, causing a huge flame to rise.

Natalie herself learned these fireball skills through training.

After eating the Flame-Flame Fruit, she didn't have to use her ability like Fire Fist Ace in the original story.

The Flame-Flame Fruit gave Natalie the ability to create and control fire. In terms of skills, it all depended on Natalie's own research and imagination.

"Ahhhh!"

The monsters pushing the cages were instantly burned beyond recognition. They struggled and howled like wild beasts.

This sudden change immediately alarmed all the monsters around.

"Kill her!"

A terrifying shout rang out amidst the crowd.

Matthew turned his head and found that it was the sheriff from the city gate before!

At this moment, the sheriff's face was covered in black lines like spiderwebs, his expression was hideous, and his scarlet eyes were filled with bloodthirsty hostility!

It was completely different from the kind and gentle look he had during the day.

Following the sheriff's order, many monsters rushed towards Natalie.

Matthew was also swept up in it and charged forward.

He did it on purpose.

What Natalie said just now was right. There was indeed something wrong that made Denis Read warn her like this.

Maybe something powerful was hidden in this crazy city.

So, he decided not to expose himself for the time being. He would wait and see.

As long as he stayed close to Natalie, he could rescue her in time if she was in danger.

Facing the countless monsters surrounding her, Natalie waved her hand, and suddenly, a wall of fire more than ten meters wide appeared in front of her, successfully blocking the monsters' charge.

Matthew had to say that the Logia Devil Fruit was indeed quite powerful.

It hadn't even been a month since Natalie ate it, but her strength had already surpassed all of her classmates.

"Natalie, save me, get me out quickly..."

Filip Walker in the cage seemed to see hope of survival and urged excitedly.

Denis Read, who was standing beside him, had a serious expression on his face. He quickly reminded him, "Natalie, hurry up! Otherwise, when that powerful monster, Earl, comes, you won't be able to escape!"

Hearing the Earl was a powerful monster, Natalie was only slightly stunned, then quickly came to her senses and continued the rescue plan.

It was not that the girl was a saint and wanted to save people regardless of danger.

But she knew very well that it was too late to leave now. The best option was to rescue these people, let them help her, and share the pressure.

"Get out of the way!"

Natalie growled and grabbed the lock on the iron cage.

-Puff

Flames ignited on her palms, quickly heating the lock red.

When the lock began to melt, the girl pulled hard and broke it.
