Chapter 31 - 31

Ding-a-ling!

The moment Hawke and another officer, who was also helping out at the 12th Precinct, walked out of the 12th Precinct's main door behind them, laughing and chatting, the alarm inside the 12th Precinct instantly blared.

In an instant, the officers who were laughing, chatting, and drinking coffee at the entrance, as well as those busy in the lobby behind them, were all stunned by the alarm.

The next second, all the officers' expressions changed abruptly. They quickly turned around and ran into the 12th Precinct with serious and tense faces.

Even the officer who had come to help and was with Hawke instinctively turned around and rushed into the 12th Precinct.

Hawke…

Hawke re-adjusted his hat, took a sip of the complimentary coffee he had just picked up while passing through the lobby, and walked down the steps without looking back.

Soon, the officers who had just rushed in seemed to have received some order. They rushed out again, scattered, and then looked around the entrance and its surroundings, as if searching for something.

Just then, a sharp-eyed officer seemed to have seen something. He ran quickly to a trash can near the right side of the entrance, and with a pull of his right hand, a discarded police uniform was pulled out.

Obviously, Hawke had casually thrown it away when he left.

At this moment, the Serious Crimes Office on the second floor of the 12th Precinct was already in chaos.

"Shit!"

"Move!"

"Move, move!"

Beckett cleared the way in front, and behind her, several officers were carrying two "bodies" in makeshift slings made from their clothes.

George Stacy.

Arthur Stacy.

As for the green body still lying in the interrogation room?

At this point, who cared about that body? They were certainly concerned about their own people.

Waa-woo, waa-woo.

Almost as soon as they carried George and Arthur to the first floor, the ambulance had already arrived, wailing.

Soon, Arthur and George were urgently loaded into the ambulance by medical personnel. A stream of officers tried to squeeze into the ambulance, and seeing that there was no more room, the smarter officers had already headed directly to the nearby parking lot.

When Kevin Ryan returned to the interrogation room on the second floor, he saw his boss, the 12th Precinct's only female detective, Kate Beckett, standing in front of a green, mutated body.

Kevin walked in, panting, "Damn it, it's all because of…"

He had already received news that the damned Killer King, who had pretended to be an officer from another precinct, had already left, and even left behind his disguised uniform as a taunt when he departed.

Kevin wished he could slap himself to death right now.

After all, he not only saw the Killer King come up, but he even greeted him, and what's more, he was the one who saw the Killer King off.

If only I…

Kevin was filled with remorse.

However, just as Kevin was about to take the blame upon himself, Kate Beckett had already extended her right hand and handed a note to Kevin.

Kevin was instantly stunned.

"What is this?"

"The Killer King left it."

"…"

Kevin regained his composure, took the note, and looked closely.

There were only two sentences on the note.

They weren't handwritten, but seemed to be made by cutting out individual letters from a newspaper and piecing them together.

It's hard to believe, but if you write something using a printer, the police department can trace the printer model, its serial number, and when it was purchased, just from the printed document.

"Arthur Stacy and George Stacy are not dead."

"Fugu Toxin."

Kevin was slightly stunned and looked up at Kate, "Is this true?"

Kate shook her head, "I don't know, but I've already notified the hospital, and they will confirm it."

That being said, Kate was still more inclined to believe it.

The reason?

Esposito Javier in the observation room next door and the uniformed officers at the door—none of them died, even though the Killer King could have easily killed them.

Moreover, Kate had also seen information about the Killer King, and could basically conclude that the murder of Lam Hammer at Star Tower the day before yesterday was also the Killer King's work.

Just like Esposito Javier and the uniformed officers at the door, the mother and daughter kidnapped by the Killer King that night were also perfectly fine, apart from being frightened.

After reviewing the Killer King's other missions, Kate had basically confirmed one thing:

This Killer King, if you say he's cold-blooded, he is very cold-blooded; all killers are cold-blooded animals.

But…

To say he has strong principles also makes sense. Through ballistics comparisons by forensics, in the more than thirty cases confirmed to be the Killer King's work, he only took the lives of his targets and spared anyone who wasn't his target.

However…

Didn't this Killer King take on a mission to assassinate Arthur Stacy?

If the Killer King was telling the truth, then what was happening now?

Also…

Is this Alex Wylanck?

Kate stepped aside, revealing a green, headless body lying on the ground.

Kevin's gaze was instantly drawn.

"Green, headless, radiation?"

Kevin instantly summarized the characteristics of the body on the floor and looked up at Kate, "It's just like the body George said he saw in the restaurant last night, but who is this?"

Frankly speaking, Alex Wylanck in his true form and Alex Wylanck disguised as a human, without a head, looked like two completely different species from their appearance alone.

Humans and aliens are inherently two different species.

Uh… different species without reproductive isolation?

Kate looked at the bewildered Kevin and then pointed to the surveillance camera in the upper right corner of the interrogation room, "If the surveillance isn't broken, it should be able to help me prove that this body is likely Alex Wylanck."

Kevin looked at Kate sharply.

"What?"

Kevin looked back at the green, headless body that he couldn't possibly connect to Alex Wylanck, "You're saying this thing is Alex Wylanck? No, wasn't he the one who hired the Killer King to kill Arthur Stacy?"

"I don't know."

Kate shook her head, "Has the Dr. arrived?"

"Dr. Morgan is already on her way."

"What about Esposito? Is he awake?"

"He's awake."

Kate nodded, withdrew her gaze from the body on the floor, looked at Kevin, and said with a serious expression, "Don't let news of this body get out. Watch over this body. I'm going to the hospital first."

With that, Kate turned and walked towards the interrogation room door.
