Ficool

Chapter 13 - 13

She's not here. She went to take a test this afternoon."

"A test?"

"Yes, an eleventh-grade physics test."

"...Alright."

After sending that message, Gwen immediately sent another: "I'll be there soon."

"Okay."

"Remember to delete the message."

"Got it."

After replying, Hawke chuckled and clicked the delete button, erasing his conversation with Gwen before putting away his phone and looking back at the information on the tablet about New York City District Attorney Arthur Stacy.

They should have the same last name.

Hawke thought to himself, after all, Stacy isn't a rare surname, just like his Dane and Lorna Dane. They look like they have the same last name, but they are actually not.

A moment later.

Not long after Hawke put away his phone, Gwen, holding books and seemingly having just finished class, appeared at the entrance of the stadium.

Gwen saw Hawke sitting in the stands at first glance, her eyes lighting up.

Hawke looked up and greeted her.

"Hi."

"Hi."

Gwen sat down next to Hawke and asked curiously, "Did Lorna fail her eleventh-grade physics test?"

Hawke shook his head, "She should pass today."

Before Lorna entered puberty, her academic performance was actually quite good. But ever since Lorna could change her hair color last year, she entered a rebellious phase of adolescence, feeling that she was Polaris among Mutants. In short, it was one sentence:

I, a Mutant, don't like to study.

Fortunately, yesterday Hawke explained to Lorna why Magneto lost to Professor Charles. Lorna, having gained some insight, was quite serious about her studies today.

This is a good sign; hopefully, it can be maintained until she graduates next year.

If Lorna studies diligently, by next June, he won't need to find ways to get recommendation letters from somewhere.

Hawke thought to himself, then looked at Gwen, "Why are you here? I remember the student council was supposed to have a meeting this afternoon, wasn't it?"

"I'll go over there in a bit."

Gwen nodded, pulled two items from the books she was holding, and handed them to Hawke, "Isn't it because your jealous sister isn't here that I came to find you? Are you free tonight?"

Hawke took the items Gwen handed him.

"Movie tickets?"

"Yes."

Gwen smiled, "It's a movie that just came out recently. They say it's pretty good. Want to go watch it together?"

Hawke also smiled, looking at Gwen, "Ms. Stacy, is this a date?"

Gwen said seriously, "No, I'm just looking for someone to go with me, to research whether the chemical technology displayed in this movie can be realized."

After speaking.

Gwen also seemed to find this explanation too far-fetched, and her lips curved into a beautiful smile, "So, Mr. Dane, are you free tonight?"

Hawke smiled faintly, "Of course, for you, I'm always free."

Gwen's smile was radiant, and she immediately stood up, "Alright then, it's settled. Half past seven, don't forget."

Hawke watched Gwen, who was already preparing to leave, and spoke up.

"Do you want me to pick you up?"

"No need!"

Gwen waved her hand without looking back, "I'm afraid Mr. Stacy will take you back to the police station."

After saying that, Gwen had already turned right and left the stadium.

Hawke watched Gwen's disappearing back, then lowered his head and blinked at the two movie tickets in his hand titled "Chemistry Love."

Hawke didn't know if Mr. Stacy could take him back to the police station, but one thing Hawke was sure of was that if he punched him, he would probably be begging Mr. Stacy not to die.

Hawke and Gwen were not in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.

This was the truth.

If one had to describe the relationship between Hawke and Gwen, it would at most be in the ambiguous stage, with only a thin layer of paper yet to be broken through.

But...

Even if it was just a thin layer of paper, it was still paper.

So Hawke had no guilt about his actions at noon. Being single, what was there to feel guilty about?

Besides, at noon, Hawke was out earning his hard-earned money.

Moreover...

Hawke felt that for someone as capable as himself, having a few more girlfriends shouldn't be a big deal. How did that saying go?

That's right.

With great power comes great responsibility (girlfriends).

Hmm.

Hawke thought of this classic inspirational quote that almost runs through the entire Marvel Universe, and nodded involuntarily, then couldn't help but think of a certain Little Spider who was most deeply indoctrinated by this quote.

Speaking of which, I have Gwen in this version, but why is the Little Spider in my version seemingly not the Amazing version, but the Holland version?

Hawke blinked.

Actually, no matter which version of Little Spider, he hated him. In short, as long as it was Little Spider, anyone associated with him didn't have a good life.

But among the three versions of Little Spider, the one Hawke hated the most was actually the Holland version of Little Spider.

Don't ask.

If you ask, it's because this Holland version found a bastard as his girlfriend.

However...

This is also good.

You play your game, take your time, I won't bother you, but if you want to harm Gwen, then don't blame me for breaking your leg and making you a short-legged spider.

In the parking lot.

Sitting in the car, Hawke thought about his date with Gwen tonight, and how he would explain to Lorna later that he might be home late tonight.

Should he just break through that barrier tonight, to prevent Lorna from always thinking unrealistic things?

Hawke raised an eyebrow, and thinking of what Lorna said this morning and afternoon, Hawke felt a headache.

God could testify for Hawke.

When he was little, Hawke had no other thoughts; he simply felt that his new Dane and Lorna also being named Dane was a great coincidence, and he truly regarded Lorna as his sister.

Like, a biological sister!

And now?

He hoped Lorna's damned rebellious phase would pass soon.

Hawke thought to himself, completely blaming his sister Lorna's certain 'incestuous' thoughts towards him on the damned rebellious adolescence.

Just then.

"Knock knock!"

Hawke came back to his senses, rolled down the window, and looked at Lorna standing outside, "What's wrong?"

Lorna said, "I'm not going tonight."

"Not going? Then where do you want to go?"

"Study!"

"What the shrimp?"

Hawke was directly shocked by this sentence. Since Lorna officially entered puberty a year ago, the word "study" had been completely unrelated to Lorna.

Did my words last night really work?

Or is Lorna's rebellious phase finally in its late stage, almost over?

This...

No matter the reason, Hawke felt very relieved.

...
