Chapter 5 - CHAPTER - 3

NARRATOR

On hearing a sharp cracking sound, Sooyeon looked down to find what was under her feet. The other three also looked down to see what caught her attention. To everyone's surprise, it was a beautiful blue pendant. Joonwoo picked it up and looked at it with wonder.

"A diamond?!", exclaimed Sooyeon.

"Looks like it.", replied Haejun.

"You are no appraiser, brother."

With excitement and curiosity, the four look at their discovery. The history behind it brought them a sense of nostalgia that was hard to resist. They felt as if they had discovered something from the past that had been long forgotten.

"What is this, Iseul?", Joonwoo asked.

"It-", and she paused.

Her speaking ability was cut off, as was Haejun, Joonwoo, and Sooyeon. They could not move, and even their breath was unusual. The thing happening in front of them shook them. It was as if gravity was pulling them to the ground, and the force choked them.

A small, wispy, unknown creature emerged from the pendant. It was no doubt male, but what was it? A demon? No, something very familiar yet very unknown. An aura bound it. A flame. Smoke or mist. They could see things beyond it. It looked down at them. Its presence made their legs numb, so much so that they dropped to their knees. Slowly the translucency faded away and a handsome man with a mixture of 'why are you bothering me' and 'you insignificant piece of shit' expression on his face.

"Yo sumon'd me hae? Way?"(You summoned me here? Who are you?), he said while picking his ears and yawning.

"Is…eul…" Her eyes shimmered and glimmered. Her lips twitched to form a smile. Is she finally getting fantasy in her life? "Am I going to become Iseul Kang, 16, single, high schooler?", she thought to herself.

"Haejun…"

"Joonwoo…"

"and… Sooyeon."

They involuntarily replied, but their voices trembled. They could not understand what he said, but somehow their brain did. Their eyeballs shifted to Isuel, who was almost about to drool.

"WaI Wah?! Izeul? Hajum? Junwho? n Soyou?" ( Wait, what?! Izeul? Hajum? Junwho? and Soyou?), he exclaimed.

The four high schoolers were taken aback and said "yes" in unison in the same way they had involuntarily answered before.

Izhart looked as if he was lost, but then regained his composure. "P i'wa faitd" (Perhaps it was fated), he said with a faint smirk. The smirk changed into a friendly smile. He said, "I'h'v t u'dae t's t'me ln. Wa'is t cen? Th y? Th dt? N plt?"

"It's the twenty-first century, handsome! Oops!", Iseul said, lost in his dreamy eyes as if some magic made her speak the truth. Sooyeon looked at her with disgust.

He made a fist and looked up in the air, and closed his eyes. He tapped on thin air and then slowly opened his eyes. Then, looking at Iseul, said indifferently, "I did not ask you, though."

His presence naturally wore off, and the four friends were able to move. He looked here and there. He turned towards Haejun and moved closer. "Do you remember me?", he asked Haejun, pointing towards himself, bending over.

"Me? No", answered Haejun with a nod, moving his head away.

"W-why would we r-remember you?", asked Joonwoo from behind.

"Oh, you need umm… the memories. Right! Wait!"

A small orb came out of his hand, and its light blinded them. Their irises disappeared, and their eyes flashed with bright light. Millions of pictures and roller coasters of emotions flashed through their minds. A queen weeping over the death of her king? Who had just confessed their love? In his grief, she curses someone to die? Curses him to be reborn until they learn the value of love?

Haejun, being most shocked, said, "What is this?". Tears rolled from his eyes as if he had felt the sorrow of those strangers. The others also woke up from their dreams and thought that they were hallucinating. Tears rolled down their cheeks. They had just seen the most realistic death scene. They felt nauseated, and bile rose to their throat, leaving them in pungent pain. What was happening to them?

Everything was like… An action without a purpose. Rain without clouds. Sun without warmth. A key without a lock. They could not fit the puzzles in the right place. No, Iseul knew what was happening. Like she got a hint of it.

"Do you all remember anything?", asked Izhart, but everyone was still lost. Haejun was the only one who did not wake up.

More than anything else, Iseul was horrified to see the woman who died with her husband. She looked awfully familiar. She had seen her before.

They did not know why, but they felt miserable at the tragic story they saw now.

"You are this man", he told Haejun, and he woke up, his eyes turning back to normal.

"The one dying?", he looked at Izhart with reddened eyes.

"No, the one killing"
