A cascade of mechanical voices flooded Hakuya's mind. Before he could process what was happening, his body plummeted through the air and crashed into deep snow.

The soft powder cushioned his fall—otherwise, he'd have been seriously injured.

Hakuya scrambled to his feet, his thin clothes offering little protection against the biting cold. He sneezed violently.

"What the hell just happened? Where am I? Was that voice real?" Hakuya muttered, scanning his surroundings in confusion.

His breath caught. "Wait... Demon Slayer? The world where demons hunt humans? That was supposed to be just an anime!"

Fear gripped him as reality set in. He'd somehow been transported into an anime dimension—a world ruled by Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King who could transform humans into man-eating demons with a single drop of his blood.

What kind of twisted second chance at life was this?

Before Hakuya could gather his thoughts, a flash of light erupted above his head. A black-and-purple Nichirin blade materialized from thin air, crackling with energy as it plummeted toward him.

Sensing danger, Hakuya looked up and stumbled backward. His feet tangled in the deep snow, and he fell hard onto his back.

The sword plunged into the snow directly between his legs, missing by inches. Cold sweat drenched his body.

"Holy crap!" Hakuya gasped. "That was way too close!"

[Success Reward: Water Breathing Techniques (Complete Mastery)]

[Mission Briefing:]

[Tomioka Giyuu: Water Hashira, one of the Nine Pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps. Master of Water Breathing techniques with exceptional combat abilities]

[Nezuko Kamado: An innocent girl transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji's blood]

As the system's announcement echoed in his mind, Hakuya stared at the Nichirin blade embedded in the snow. His thoughts slowly crystallized into understanding.

He pulled himself up and gripped the sword's handle firmly.

A translucent map suddenly appeared in his vision, with a countdown timer below it. Three minutes remained.

"Damn it!" Hakuya cursed under his breath. No time to think—he had to complete this mission now.

Following the system's map, Hakuya sprinted toward his destination.

After several minutes of running, his breathing became labored and his pace slowed. His body wasn't used to this kind of exertion.

Then something changed.

Dark purple markings emerged across his skin like demonic tattoos. The transformation was most dramatic on his right hand—the one gripping the Nichirin blade. Sharp, bony protrusions sprouted from his finger joints, resembling a demon's claws.

His skin turned deep crimson, crisscrossed with purple veins that pulsed with otherworldly energy. The markings spread to his face, and his eyes transformed completely—the whites turned pitch black while his pupils glowed violet. Even his black hair shifted to deep purple.

Hakuya couldn't see the changes to his face, but his demonic right hand was impossible to ignore.

As the transformation completed, purple mist swirled around him, following his movements like a living shadow.

Power surged through his body. His speed increased exponentially, and he became a streak of purple lightning tearing across the snowy mountain landscape.

"So this is the Devourer's power?" Hakuya thought, exhilarated. "This is incredible!"

Meanwhile, at the mission site...

"I understand," Tomioka Giyuu said quietly, his voice heavy with regret. "If I had arrived yesterday, your family might still be alive. But we cannot change the past. You must transform this pain—this pure, burning rage—into strength. With a weak spirit, you cannot protect your sister, cure her condition, or avenge your family."

The Water Hashira's words hung in the cold air as he gazed at Tanjiro Kamado, who knelt in the snow, devastated by grief.

Giyuu slowly raised his Nichirin blade. Tanjiro's eyes widened in horror as he realized what was about to happen.

"Stop! Please, don't!" Tanjiro screamed, desperately grabbing a rock from the snow and hurling it at the Hashira.

Giyuu deflected it effortlessly with his sword's hilt. But then his expression shifted dramatically—his eyes widened in genuine surprise.

It wasn't Tanjiro's attack that startled him. It was Hakuya's sudden arrival.

At the critical moment, Hakuya burst onto the scene with explosive force. Enhanced by the Devourer's power, he might not be able to defeat a Hashira, but stopping him from killing Nezuko? That was entirely possible—especially with the element of surprise on his side.

Tanjiro froze mid-motion, stunned by the unexpected intervention. He'd been about to grab his axe and charge at Giyuu, but now he stood paralyzed with shock.

Hakuya's demon-slaying blade crashed into Giyuu's Nichirin sword with tremendous force. Metal shrieked against metal, sending sparks flying into the snowy air.

Tanjiro stared at the strange, demon-marked figure who'd just saved his sister. He sniffed the air carefully, using his enhanced sense of smell to identify the newcomer.

The scent confused him. Hakuya didn't carry the same smell as the demon that had massacred his family.

Disappointment flickered across Tanjiro's face. For a moment, he'd hoped this mysterious person might be connected to his family's killer—someone who could give him answers

Giyuu's piercing gaze locked onto Hakuya. Taking in his bizarre, demonic appearance—the purple markings, the crimson skin, the inhuman eyes—the Water Hashira instinctively categorized him as a demon.

Hakuya had no idea he'd been mistaken for one of the very creatures he was supposed to fight. Right now, he had only one objective: protect Nezuko from Giyuu. Her survival meant his survival.

He'd already died once in his previous life. He wasn't about to let some system "humanely dispose" of him in this strange new world. If he had to die again, he wanted it to be on his own terms—not vaporized by some interdimensional computer program before his family could even bury his body.

"You can't touch this girl!" Hakuya said coldly, his grip tightening on his Nichirin blade.

Giyuu's expression remained impassive. "Did Muzan send you?"

The question caught Hakuya off guard. A dimensional traveler working for the Demon King? As if!

"I'm just a passing demon slayer," Hakuya replied, trying to sound confident. "You can't kill this girl!"

[Water Breathing: First Form - Water Surface Slash]

Without warning, Giyuu's blade moved like liquid lightning, striking Hakuya's sword with tremendous force.

The impact sent Hakuya sliding backward several meters, his feet carving trenches through the snow. Despite the aggressive attack, he didn't counterattack. He could sense that Giyuu's killing intent had diminished slightly—his words had piqued the Hashira's curiosity.

"Demon slayer?" Giyuu's eyes narrowed. "You're not a demon? Are you saying you hunt demons too?"

It was the first time Giyuu had heard that particular term. The meaning seemed clear enough—someone who slays demons—but he'd never encountered such a strange demon hunter before. This person's appearance made it nearly impossible to see him as human.

As one of the nine Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyuu had spent years fighting demons. He knew their aura, their presence, their nature intimately. Before fully committing to his next move, he carefully analyzed the energy radiating from Hakuya.

The result genuinely surprised him. Hakuya didn't emit a demon's aura. Instead, he possessed something entirely unfamiliar—something Giyuu had never encountered in all his years as a Hashira.

"A demon?" Hakuya scoffed. "I'm not some man-eating monster! I'm just a kind-hearted person passing through!"

He watched Giyuu's reaction carefully. The Hashira remained cautious, his stance defensive.

"Demons can't survive in sunlight," Hakuya continued. "We can verify what I am when morning comes. But right now, all you need to do is let that girl live."

"If you're truly a demon slayer, you understand how dangerous demons are," Giyuu countered, his voice firm. "If I release her, innocent people will die."

"My sister won't hurt anyone, I swear!" Tanjiro suddenly interjected, his voice desperate. "Please, you have to believe me!"

Giyuu barely glanced at the boy, dismissing his plea entirely. His attention remained fixed on Hakuya, waiting to hear why this strange warrior insisted on Nezuko's survival.

Hakuya fell silent. How could he explain this? He certainly couldn't say, "If she dies, I die too!"
