The limousine rolled smoothly through Gotham's streets, its headlights cutting through the damp mist. Itachi sat across from his uncle Thomas Wayne, his aunt Martha, and beside Bruce. His black eyes, calm and unreadable, observed everything.
Tonight had been Thomas's idea. "A night at the opera," he'd said, insisting the boys deserved to see something refined rather than more television in the mansion. Bruce was fidgeting with excitement, while Itachi leaned back, ever the picture of quiet composure.
Yet something gnawed at the back of his mind. His chakra pulsed strangely — restless, unsettled.
The opera ended late. The boys were tired, and the Waynes, rather than wait for the limousine, decided to take the shortcut alley. Crime Alley.
Itachi's instincts screamed.
Halfway through the darkness, a shadow detached itself from the wall. A man with a gun. His eyes were desperate, his hands trembling.
"Wallets. Jewelry. Now."
Thomas Wayne raised his hand, stepping protectively in front of Martha and the children. "Stay calm. We'll cooperate."
But Itachi saw it. The man's twitching finger, the hunger in his eyes. Chakra surged violently inside him.
"No…" he whispered.
The gun went off. Thomas collapsed. Another shot, and Martha's scream was cut short. The pearls around her neck snapped, scattering like fallen tears across the wet pavement.
Bruce screamed. Time slowed.
Something inside Itachi shattered — and ignited. His vision sharpened, color bleeding away until only the raw clarity of emotion remained. Pain, grief, rage, the urge to protect.
The world lit up red.
Three tomoe spun into existence in each eye.
For the first time, Itachi Wayne's Sharingan awakened in its complete form.
The gunman froze mid-step, caught in the boy's gaze. To him, it felt as though the shadows themselves rose, clawing at his mind. His fear magnified a thousandfold, and he stumbled backward, dropping the weapon before fleeing into the night.
But Itachi didn't care. His eyes were locked on the two bodies lying in blood, Bruce sobbing beside them.
He clenched his fists so tightly his nails bit into his palms. If I had been stronger… if I had unlocked this power sooner…
The System chimed, its voice cutting through the silence.

Itachi didn't even blink. He knelt beside Bruce, placing a hand on his cousin's trembling shoulder.
"I swear to you," he whispered, his voice carrying the weight of his vow. "This will never happen again. I will become strong enough… to protect everything we have left."
Above them, the city loomed — Gotham, cold and merciless. And in the shadows, destiny shifted. Two boys had been scarred by tragedy tonight. One would become the Bat.
The other would become something far darker.
