Chapter 31: Dungeon Stampede Part-3
The dungeon stampede raged on. Mary's friends, still trembling from the terrifying aura that had swept over the city moments before, found themselves on their knees as monsters surged toward them. Somehow, one of them—Juliana—forced herself to stand on shaking legs and cast a protective barrier around the group.
The monsters slammed against the shimmering shield. Though skilled C-rank players, the girls felt unnaturally weak, as if even a D-rank adventurer could overpower them. One by one, the others rose and stepped out from the barrier, weapons in hand. Angelina enchanted them with strength and speed, and the nine girls fought desperately, cutting down lowly E-rank monsters.
But when C-rank monsters joined the fray—Giant Centipedes, Stone Golems, and Demon Wolves—they were quickly pushed back. Then, a B-rank Orc Archer loosed a single, precise arrow. It struck Angelina, the enchanter, directly in the head, killing her instantly.
"NOOO!!!" screamed Anika, the warrior, and Sharline, the assassin. Eyes blazing with rage, they charged the Orc Archer. But as they neared it, the creature laughed mockingly. A massive club swung out of nowhere, crushing Sharline, while a swift Orc Swordmaster cut Anika in two before she could react.
The Orc General strode forward, picked up Sharline's twitching body, and bit her head clean off before tossing the corpse aside. The six remaining girls stared in horror—their warrior friend lay sliced open, organs spilling out, while their assassin's headless body shuddered on the ground.
Terrified and frozen, they realized they were surrounded. Orc Warriors, Swordmasters, Mages, and Soldiers closed in, their laughter a chorus of cruel mockery. The remaining girls—Juliana (Healer), Adrian (Archer), Sereha (Thief), Synthiana (Mage), Charlie (Trapmaster), and Christina (Witch)—were ill-equipped for close combat. Adrian, Juliana, and Sereha fought back desperately, while the other three stood paralyzed by fear.

In a makeshift rescue center, two survivors sat wrapped in blankets—Adrian, her right eye bandaged, and Juliana, her spirit shattered. Their faces were blank, their minds trapped in the horrors of the previous day. The other three—Synthiana, Charlie, and Christina—had been slaughtered by the Orcs. Sereha, the thief, was cut in half by an Orc Swordmaster. An arrow had taken Adrian's eye. Juliana had dragged her to safety, trembling as she healed her friend's wound.
Hours later, S-rank players arrived, cleansing the city of monsters and rescuing the survivors, including the broken healer and the half-blind archer.

Juliana and Adrian sat in numb silence, tears streaking their dirty faces. Out of nine friends, only they remained. As they wept, Adrian's bandaged gaze fell on a familiar figure across the room—Lily, Sam's sister, curled under a blanket.
They rushed over, voices trembling. "Are you Lily? Sam's sister?"
At the sound of her brother's name, Lily's eyes flooded with tears. She clutched their legs like a lifeline. "Do you know my brother?! Do you know where he is?! Please, tell me!"
Confused, Juliana and Adrian asked why she didn't know where Sam was—they had assumed he was with her.
Lily broke down, sobbing out the truth—how her family had disowned him, thrown him out, betrayed him. Juliana and Adrian listened in mounting horror. Not only had Mary betrayed Sam, but his own family had cast him out.
Overwhelmed with guilt, the two girls fell to their knees. They confessed their own role in Sam's suffering—how they had encouraged Mary, helped her cheat, and looked down on him. They wept, believing this was their divine punishment.
Lily stared, a storm of sympathy, anger, and regret swirling inside her. "We were all part of this crime," she whispered with a broken smile. "Now we're all paying the price."
Desperate and grieving, the three girls clung to each other, crying until exhaustion claimed them. They fell asleep in a tight embrace, their tear-streaked faces etched with shared sorrow and regret.
