When she heard Logan's words, the angel Diana sneered, then spread her wings and pulled away from Logan again.
Even with the city-wide alarm going off, Diana still chose to betray him, showing strong will.
Logan saw this and spat lightly, his eyes locking onto Diana with an even colder look.
This world had used summoning rituals for years, and there were very solid methods to prevent familiars from betraying their summoners.
Any familiar summoned through the altar would have a mental mark planted on them right away, making them naturally close to and obey their summoner.
Diana was able to stay unaffected, which clearly meant she had used her strength to break free from the control.
Thinking about this, Logan sighed and said, "No matter how strong a familiar is, without loyalty, it's nothing."
Then he changed his tone:"Instead of letting you cause trouble for others, why not support scientific experiments and contribute to humanity?"
"I think the experts at the Federal Medical University would be very happy to pay a high price to buy your control from me for their research!"
Logan's voice was soft, but it sounded like a shock to everyone around.
Diana, who was floating in the air, shook violently at first, then her face turned pale.
Even her usual image of noble pride was now gone.
She was smart enough to hear the cold threat hidden in Logan's words.
But what made her lose it was that she had no way to stop it.
Even if she ran away today, once Logan sold her, the federal strongmen would catch her again and use her for experiments.
Furious and shocked, Diana vanished in a flash and landed back in the center of the altar, sending up a bunch of broken stones.
She stood in front of Logan, trembling, raising her hand and pointing at him, her voice shaking:"You! Dammit!"
As she finished speaking, a wave of light spread out.
Everyone looked around and saw that over a hundred armed guards had already arrived with their familiars, surrounding the area completely.
Seeing this, the representatives of all the groups there inched back in fear, their eyes locked tightly on Logan.
"That kid is really cold. He's going to send an A-class familiar to the lab for dissection? Does he not care at all?"
"Let's be honest, that angel was summoned by Logan. He has the right to deal with her however he wants."
"No way! Those mad scientists don't care about money when they study familiar reproduction. We have to stop him!"
As they said this, the guild representatives who had just been arguing with Logan changed their tone and started offering new conditions.
"Hey, kid, it's an A-class familiar, an angel that's almost S-class. Sending her to the lab is such a waste. Think again about the deal from S.H.I.E.L.D. Guild, okay?"
"Hey, kid, I'm representing the Dragon Hunting Guild. I'll offer five million... no, eight million, to buy this angel familiar from you. I'll also give you a real job."
"Hey, kid, don't listen to him. We Titan Guild will trade you one A-class familiar, the 'Hill Giant', for this angel, okay? The giant is kind and not so proud. He won't betray you either."
At this moment, the teacher who had been hovering in the air finally landed, gently patted Logan on the shoulder, and said in a serious tone:
"Logan, let me introduce myself. I'm Owen, a colonel in the Twilight City Guard."
"Doing business with the military, I can give you ten million to summon a new familiar. I can also recommend you to apply for the Honor Military Academy."
"I hope you think carefully before making a decision. Don't act on impulse and mess up your future."
"After all, your life has just begun."
Logan listened to all the advice, his eyes sweeping across the crowd.
Seeing the greedy and fearful expressions on everyone's faces, Logan smiled.
He knew exactly what these people were thinking — they just wanted to get their hands on an A-class familiar close to S-class.
But others might want this angel, Logan didn't care about her at all.
Not to mention an A-class familiar — even if it was an S-class one, Logan wouldn't give in.
With his advantage, Logan could raise hundreds of powerful familiars.
Even a dog, he could dig out its rare ancient bloodline and turn it into something above S-class.
So, Logan didn't care about a familiar's current strength.
Loyalty — that was the one quality he valued the most.
Since Diana was rebellious, why not use her to get resources to train other familiars?
Thinking this, Logan looked up at everyone and gave a calm, easy smile:
"A disloyal beast, that's all. If you want her, you can have her."
Hearing this, the people who were scared of the angel being dissected all sighed in relief.
But before they could say anything, Logan raised his hand and spread out his five fingers:
"But, the deal has to be my way."
Hearing Logan was setting the terms, the guild leaders all started rubbing their hands, ready to negotiate.
For these old-timers, as long as there was room to talk, there was a chance to make a profit.
No matter how high Logan asked, they could always counter with a lower offer.
But Logan coughed lightly and set conditions that were even crazier than before.
"First, transfer fifty million to me in one go."
"Second, I want to summon a new familiar."
"Third, have the Temple Priest from Twilight City bless my summoning ritual."
"Finally, all my conditions must be met — no bargaining."
As soon as Logan finished speaking, the guild representatives all widened their eyes, looking shocked and disbelieving.
Even Owen, who was nearby, shook his head in disappointment.
Logan was asking for too much.
Each of the conditions alone didn't seem too bad.
But when you added them all together, it was ridiculous.
And Logan even said he wouldn't accept any bargaining. That was really bad business.
It was clear he was trying to take a big profit.
Especially the last one — having the Temple Priest bless the summoning ritual — was totally out of line.
Through the blessing of the Priest, familiars summoned by a familiar master have a chance to mutate, gaining extra skills and talents, and even mastering multiple elements.
This is a special treatment only for the top nobles in Twilight City — something a commoner like Logan could never even dream of.
For a moment, the guild representatives looked at each other, their faces full of hesitation. No one spoke.
Owen just quietly pulled out his phone and started dialing.
Seeing that no one was responding, Logan just shrugged his shoulders and said, "If no one wants to trade, I'll just send the angel to the lab."
As he said that, Logan was about to tell the guard soldiers to take Diana down.
After the previous negotiation, the angel Diana had fully understood her situation.
Logan wasn't joking. If he didn't get what he wanted, he would really send her to be dissected.
Thinking of this, Diana looked at Owen with a sad expression.
But Owen acted like he didn't see it, still talking on his phone.
Seeing this, Logan just laughed and said, "Angel, I actually like you when you look down on people. This face doesn't fit you at all."
As he finished speaking, the guard soldiers were already in front of Diana.
Cold iron chains glowed with magic, making the angel's face turn pale and red, her teeth grinding together.
Just as she was about to make one last desperate move, a soft voice rang out.
"Stop!"
"Your conditions, I accept!"
Drip... drip... drip...
A clear high-heel sound echoed through the crowd. A Priest, wearing a mask, with a graceful figure and dressed in full formal clothes, stepped out of the crowd.
Behind her, a group of armored knights with giant swords followed closely.
Each knight had a small Silver-maned Griffin, about the size of a hand, sitting on their shoulder. They looked powerful and majestic.
As the knights walked through the crowd, a wave of murmurs quickly spread.
"It's the Holy Knight Order!"
"Nancy Priest is here!"
"Is it for the angel? She agreed to such a crazy condition."
"Probably. I heard the Holy Virgin also did a summoning ritual this year, but the Holy Temple hasn't revealed her familiar yet. It probably didn't go well."
"That makes sense. As the Holy Virgin, her first familiar has to be top-tier. They're not showing it because they don't have anything good to offer."
"Nancy Priest bringing the knight order in person — she really wants that angel Logan summoned."
"That's an angel! A Light-element familiar — perfect for the Holy Virgin."
At this point, the students waiting in line for their summoning rituals finally realized what was going on. Their eyes were full of envy when they looked at Logan.
"Damn, he really got a big one."
