Chapter 8 - STORY 8: home

Deserted and alone, Ariana struggles to find her way home

Home.

What a word.

Could she even call it home anymore? She couldn't even think of that right now. She needed to get to that place everyone called home.

She wished she carried the same meaning of home as everybody else did.

But could hers be the same, she somehow felt different. Different to others and what they defined. Some called her cocky, some called her rebellious...when infact she was just ambitious .

What more could there be out there, what was there that no one dares to question...

She crawled.

Swallowing deeply as she craved cold water. Her dry hands scraped the ground under her burning legs.

She needed help at all costs.

But dare she scream, dare she shout. Or has her pride consumed her and left her out to dry. All has abandoned her and she abandoned herself

She gave up - her legs giving in. How the hell was she going to get out here? She refused to cry out for help but it's not like her voice would find itself either.

But then suddenly..

A hand was extended

Could this be God?

Could this be the end?

This was it.

Maybe she'd finally get the wish she'd been longing for.

But oh boy was she so wrong.

She fainted as she felt herself being picked up

She knew this was the end

Or so she thought

The strong and bare hands carried her.And as if it was the bed from home. Her eyes shut in delight almost too quickly.

She tucked against this comforting feeling. Feeling as tho she has come to rest.

"I suggest you don't lie and wait for death next time, miss." That voice...

She knew it.

It alarmed her peace.

She had heard it from somewhere.

But her brain was working too slow for her to know who it was.

"Shall I serve you some water?" She heard the familiar voice again. Her eyes from reason could not flutter open. As if she was not meant to see this being.

But she felt it's presence.

"Who are you?" She asked, stretching out her hand as her eyes dare not open

"Home." The voice replied soft but masculine. Security and reassurance clear as it did not stutter.

Home.

She wondered and wondered but nothing seemed to make sense.

She hated home.

"Who are you really?" She asks. Seriousness in her tone. She then hears a dark and bold chuckle. The sound drove her mad.

She couldn't lie.

"I just told you."

"Spare me the lies, for I've already given up hope." At this she pleaded. As much as she wanted to believe, her heart could not bare the pain.

She felt something lift her chin and slowly make it's way to cup her cheek.

"Then don't lie to me." She didn't know why, but she hugged it. Tears rolling down her eyes as they finally opened. It was almost painful for her.

Her vision was blurry and filtered. She could barely see.

"I- I can't see you," She sounded defeated. Instead of focusing on the fact that she couldn't see, she was focused on the fact that she couldn't see him. "Breathe," He caressed her face with his rough palm. "home is here."

Her hand now entwined with his, she knew now that she could no longer deny it. Her head rested on what appeared to be his shoulder and she found herself soon dozing off. For the first time she was happy, for the first time

she was home.
