Chapter 26 - The Empress.

The imperial court was majestic. Guards stood in lines. Nobles surrounded Izaru and his gang as they walked forward towards the throne. Where she sat.

The Empress.

Avelyine Marnata Rosaliana.

She sat on the throne in her Imperial Robe, her red suit glimmering as light touched it, her long silky blonde hairs adding to her beauty. Her beautiful blue eyes indicated the immense amount of mana she possessed.

Cain ran up the stairs and stood before her. "I'm back, sis!" he said cheerfully.

"So you're here. How as the trip?" she asked, her voice gentle.

"The guild-master wasn't in town. So I couldn't give him your letter."

"That's unfortunate." she exclaimed. Then she turned towards Izaru and Liora. "So, are these the ones who saved your life?"

"Yes!" Cain exclaimed with joy, his smile as bright as a twelve-years-old's can get. "Also, the massenger I sent told you about the ogres. But Sir Izaru even saved me from a Drake!"

"Oh, is that so?"

Izaru was standing straight, his face blank. But not his thoughts.

"She's bad news!! I can sense it! I barely managed to defeat the Drake. But this women... She can kill at least ten of those easily! Well, not easily. But she's just too strong for me. I better not get on her bad side."

Or so he thought.

"I'm grateful to you for saving my little brother. How can I ever repay you?" Avelyine said, her smile as sharp as Liora's Mythril Daggers.

"Even though he saved my brother, I know for certain that he has ulterior motives. Why would he save my brother otherwise?

"I was just doing my job as an adventurer and saw them in trouble. That's it."

"Oh. Is that so?

"Who does he think he's trying too fool?"

"Yes! And I also cut off the head of a few of them!" Liora jumped in from behind Izaru, waving her Mythril Daggers.

"Liora. Shut up."

"There he goes. He has a demon as a companion. He can I trust someone with a demon?"

"H-he has a demon with him?!"

"Is that even allowed?!"

The nobles were a little scared.

"Don't worry," Izaru said. "If she tries anything funny, I'll just bury her three feet under."

"That's so cruel!" Liora exclaimed.

"Don't forget. I heard you that day. What did you say you wanted to do again? Try and stab me?"

"Th-that was just a joke! Not that you will just die form that!"

"Yeah, yeah. Sure."

Cain tugged at Avelyine's robe. "Sis. Sir Izaru's gauntlets are broken. Can you please get him new ones?"

"Oh. Sure, why not?"

"So that's what he is after."

"Oh. Thanks. But I'm fine. I'll get new ones from somewhere else."

"Oh, that we cannot let happen. You saved my little brother's life many times. I must reward you."

"Trying to be modest and flatter me, huh? Too bad. Not gonna work."

"Oh. Okay."

Everyone went silent. That's it? That's what he says? 'Okay'?

"Why did everyone go quiet?"

Avelyine hesitated a little but tried to remain composed. "Please don't mind everyone. He's just not from our world."

"Not from our world?"

"What's going on here?"

The nobles started whispering.

"This guy here is the teacher of the heroes. He's their teacher from another world." Avelyine explained the situation to everyone.

"Oh. You're smart. You little brother didn't even know it till I told him."

"'You're smart', he says? How insolent!"

"Well, we will get your new gauntlets prepared right away." Avelyine tried to compose herself despite her growing anger.

"Hmm."

Everyone froze again. 'Hmm'? Did he really just say 'Hmm'?

"Di-did her just say 'Hmm'? He's so bold! That's so- That's so-

"So Cool!!!"
