Chapter 7 - unexpected turnover

"Hii, young master," Akio said, waving his hand.

Seeing Akio standing by his door, Arion thought it was just a hallucination he was having because of thinking about Akio so much. He took the door handle and started to close the door.

"HEY! Wait, what are you doing?!" Akio grabbed the door, stopping Arion from closing it, confused about what he's doing.

Arion started to push the door with both hands, giving all his strength into it.

'Huh? I could ask you the same thing. Let go, you're just a fake, and how come you're so strong?' Arion replied, thinking the Akio standing in front of him was just an illusion.

"What do you mean fake?! I'm the real Akio Asara!" Akio pushed with everything.

Akio's sudden push knocked Arion off balance, sending him stumbling backward.

'Ack—I'm gonna fall!' he screamed inside his head. Arion was just about to fall, but again Akio caught him in mid-air.

Arion's eyes wide in surprise. 'This is the real Akio!' he whispered.

"Uh… Young master, this position is kinda… can you please…" Akio said nervously, looking sideways.

Arion in Akio's arms. 'Huh? Yeah!!' He quickly regained his balance again while his cheek turned red.

Arion scratched the back of his head. 'I'm really sorry, Akio! I thought my mind was playing tricks on me!' Arion smiled nervously, trying to cover his embarrassment.

Akio remembered why he was here. "Ah! I almost forgot! Her highness wants to see you at the hall," Akio said.

'Mom wants to see me?' Arion muttered. He glanced at Akio again. 'Why are you wearing same school uniform as me? Do you go there too?' Arion asked back to back questions without a break.

Hearing so many questions at the same time, Akio blinked. "Please wait a minute, young master. First, let's go!" Akio tried to calm him down.

'Okay! Let me get my bag first!' Arion looked over the room for his bag but still didn't find it.

Akio crouched down beside the bed and reached underneath, pulling out a bag that had been hidden away.

"Here, young master." He handed the bag to Arion, who was still busy searching for it.

Surprised by how Akio managed to find the bag. 'How did you find the bag?' he asked, his eyes wide with amazement as he took the bag from Akio's hands.

"It was just under—" Akio cleared his throat. He looked sideways. "I mean it was pretty hard to, but I managed to find the bag," Akio broke into a sweat. "Hope he buys it," he muttered under his breath.

'R-really? Thank you.' Arion broke a sweat on his forehead. 'That's obviously a lie!' he whispered.

Arion put the bag on his back. 'Let's go! Mom will be mad if we're late.' Arion stepped out of the room.

"Yeah," Akio replied, following behind Arion.

In hallway.

Arion looked behind, seeing Akio walking behind him. 'Which class are you in, Akio?' he asked.

"Class one," Akio replied.

'Really?! I'm in class one too.' Arion's face brightened up with excitement.

"That's good to hear!" Akio replied with a smile.

Reaching the hall, Alica was sitting on the sofa.

"Why did it take so much time? What were you guys doing?" Alica asked, folding her arm.

'Nothing, mom! What did you want to say to me?' Arion asked.

"From now on Akio will be going to school with you! So stick with him in the school," Alica replied, standing up as they came.

'Huh? But why?' Arion asked in confusion.

"As you already know, Akio is an Alpha. He will stay with you in the school to protect you from any danger" Alica replied, leaving the hall as she talked.

'But mom, how can you ask him to do all that? What about his own life?' Arion asked, glancing at Akio and then at Alica, who was walking just ahead of him. His voice was gentle but filled with concern.

"Of course, he can live his own life too! We asked him before deciding, and he agreed," Alica replied, glancing back.

"Yeah, her highness asked me before and I agreed," Akio replied, walking behind Arion.

'Really?' Arion glanced behind at Akio.

"ARION! Be quick, we don't want to be late again!" Alica shouted from ahead.

Arion flinched. 'Yeah, coming!' Arion replied.

Outside, Alica had already taken a seat in the front of the car. "Let's go" she called out.

Arion climbed into the back seat, while Akio stopped.

Confused, Arion asked, 'Let's go, Akio. Why aren't you coming?'

Akio paused at the door and asked, "Are we going in the same car?"

"Of course! From now on we'll go together, right?" Arion replied.

Akio's eyes widened in surprise at Arion's words. "With a son of the servant?" he muttered under his breath.

"Be quick, Akio," Alica called out from the front.

"Yes, your highness," Akio answered, climbing in beside Arion, still feeling a bit nervous.

'You must have had friends at your old school, right?' Arion asked.

"N-no, I don't really have many friends," Akio replied, still sounding nervous.

Noticing Akio's nervousness, Arion gently grabbed Akio's hand. 'This helps when you're nervous. My mom used to do this for me!' he said with a reassuring smile.

"Huh?" Akio's whole face turned bright red as he looked at their joined hands.

"Pffft..." Alica nearly choked as she spat water on the window. "Arion! You can't just grab someone's hand like that," she scolded, glancing back at him with wide eyes.

'I-I didn't know that.' Arion's cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"Of course! Don't do something like that again, you'll give the wrong signal to someone," Alica replied.

Arion opened the window, taking a deep breath to calm himself down, his heart continued to race. 'What am I doing? Seriously!' he muttered, still feeling embarrassed.
