Chapter 105 - 105

That's good. Being a superhero isn't easy. Someone who nearly wets their pants when threatened by a bad guy is hardly a superhero. So why are you going to see him?"

Wang Kai asked. In his opinion, birds of a feather flock together. How could someone as tough as Mindy hang out with someone like Dave? It didn't make sense.

"Oh, he said a group of people recently appeared in New York, looking everywhere for Hit-Girl and causing trouble. I suspect they're Frank's remaining men."

Mindy explained her reason for going to New York. She wasn't going to see a friend; she wanted to figure out what these people were up to. If they were Frank's remnants, she would eliminate them completely.

"So that's it. Alright, let's go to New York."

Wang Kai was surprised. If someone was targeting Hit-Girl, it could probably only be Frank's people. Because Damon and Mindy had targeted Frank initially, besides Frank's people having a grudge against Mindy, no one else had an obligation to avenge Frank.

But Frank and his son had both been killed by him and Mindy, so who else would avenge Frank? Could it be Frank's subordinates? They wouldn't be that loyal, would they?

Having decided to go to New York, Wang Kai drove Mindy there. To gather information, Wang Kai had Mindy go find Dave while he went to the Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children bar to ask the Mole for information. The Mole was an expert in that area.

"Hey, Kai, long time no see. Wade still hasn't shown up. Is he dead? You know, everyone else doesn't think I won the bet. I just want to prove it."

Seeing Wang Kai, the Mole finally remembered his name, but he was eager to know if Wade was dead. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to collect the prize money in the death pool.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, Wade isn't dead. He's still alive."

Wang Kai's words made the Mole quite disappointed. This meant he wouldn't get the prize money from the pool.

"Oh, well, Kai, what would you like to drink?"

The Mole said helplessly. Damn it, he still hadn't won.

"Hmm, a glass of whiskey, lots of ice. Also, I need to ask you about something."

Wang Kai ignored the Mole's behavior, which was typical of a super bad friend, ordered a drink, and stated his purpose.

"OK, one whiskey with ice, and one information snack."

The Mole expertly poured Wang Kai's drink and added ice, then came over to Wang Kai and looked at him, waiting for his question.

"Don't look at me like that. If I'm not satisfied, I won't tip either."

Wang Kai was speechless at the Mole's expression. This guy was really cheap, no wonder he could hang out with Wade.

"Alright, what do you want to ask? I'll tell you everything I know for a friend."

The Mole retracted his expression that made people want to punch him in the face, and then said to Wang Kai.

"Great. I heard there's a group of people causing trouble recently and looking for Hit-Girl. Who are they?"

Wang Kai asked. He was a little curious about this group too. He hoped they could give him a little surprise and some fun, otherwise, it was really boring before the many supervillains appeared.

"Oh, you mean them? I happen to know…"

The Mole started to put on airs, which made Wang Kai slap a banknote onto the bar. The Mole immediately scurried to pocket it.

"It's like this, they are Frank's people. After Frank and his son died, Mrs. D'Amico became obsessed with revenge. She's been recruiting people everywhere, even two mutants, the lower-level kind. Besides that, there's a group of thugs who just got out of prison. She even came here to recruit people, but no one wanted to work for a crazy woman."

After taking the money, the Mole's mouth lost its lock and he told him everything. It seemed the key to the Mole's mouth was money, and many people were like that.

"I see, how uninteresting."

Wang Kai said.

He didn't expect that after taking down Red Mist, Red Mist's mother would show up. No wonder the system didn't even issue a mission. Such small fry were really not worth his time; Mindy could handle it.

"Oh, right, if you see Wade, say hello for me. Also, pass on a message: if he's going to die, remember to give me a heads-up."

The Mole said again. He was still concerned about his death prize money.

"Okay, I'll have him send you an obituary so you can win."

Wang Kai downed his whiskey, then stood up and said to the Mole before leaving.

"Thanks."

The Mole said to Wang Kai's retreating back.

After leaving Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children bar, Wang Kai called Mindy, told her the information he had obtained, and asked her to deal with those boring people. Mindy had been training with him for some time now. If she still couldn't handle these scumbags, Wang Kai would have to consider increasing the intensity of Mindy's next training phase.

After contacting Mindy, Wang Kai went to check on Wade, or more accurately, sense Wade's presence to see if he was dead or had mutated.

Arriving at the factory, Wang Kai released his Observation Haki and sensed around. Wade was still in that factory, still in that half-dead, pathetic state. It seemed Wade's willpower was still very strong. It had been two months, and he hadn't collapsed yet, which was rare.

There were still no signs of Wade mutating. Wang Kai returned to his residence in New York. Although it wasn't very large, and even a bit shabby compared to his mansions in Maine and Los Angeles, it was Wang Kai's first house, and Wang Kai planned to keep it as a memento.

"I'm back."

Mindy returned from outside, threw her backpack down casually, and collapsed onto the sofa.

"How was your day's harvest? Did you find that group of people?"

Wang Kai poked his head out from the kitchen and asked. Ever since he told Mindy the identity of those people, Mindy had started looking for them and preparing to eliminate them. Damon's death still haunted Mindy.

"Found a few lackeys. They were dressed like supervillains. It's like if they don't have brightly colored leather outfits, heavy eyeliner, and multi-colored hair, they're not villains. They might as well have written 'Villain' on their faces."

Mindy said. After her ability improved, dealing with these lackeys was much easier for Mindy, but she still hadn't found that crazy woman.

"You have to understand, not everyone has high standards of aesthetics. For these lackeys, it's already pretty good. Don't be careless. Of course, you have no problem dealing with these ordinary people, but don't forget the other side has mutants. Even a lion uses its full strength to catch a rabbit. If you mess up in the gutter, don't say you're my student."

Wang Kai brought out two plates of spaghetti, handed one to Mindy, and then sat on the comfortable sofa, ready to enjoy his late-night snack.
