Chapter 3 - Heartbeats and Laughter

INT. ARVEN'S HOUSE – EVENING

Arven arrives home. The smell of dinner fills the air. His family has already gathered at the table.

Mom: Arven, dinner's ready!

Arven: Coming!

He sits and eats with his family. Conversation is casual, filled with laughter about the day.

Narration: Even with all the chaos of studies, games, and endless rushing, these moments with family remind Arven of something steady—something worth holding on to.

After dinner, Arven grabs his phone.

Arven (messaging May): I'm going to play a bit tonight.

May (reply): Okay, just don't stay up too late.

He smiles faintly, then contacts his friend.

Arven (messaging John): Ready?

John: Always. Let's go.

The night slips by with laughter, banter, and bright screens.

INT. ARVEN'S ROOM – LATE NIGHT

After gaming, Arven scrolls through social media. A headline catches his eye:

News headline: "Preacher warns: God's return is near. The world must repent."

The comments are flooded with jokes, memes, and ridicule.

Narration: Arven reads quietly, his thoughts lingering. Faith, fear, mockery—it all blends together. After a moment, he shrugs it off, closing the app.

He types one last message.

Arven (messaging May): Goodnight.

May: Goodnight.

Arven sets his phone aside and lies down. Silence fills the room.

Then—screams break the stillness.

Sister (from another room): Aaaaaah!

Arven bolts upright, rushing to her.

Arven: What's wrong?!

Sister (shaking): I... I had a nightmare!

Their mother bursts in, pale.

Mom: I... I also had one...

One by one, they call relatives. Each confirms the same thing—everyone had the same dream. Fear, confusion, and urgency flood the household.

Narration: Something strange is happening. A dream, spreading like fire, touching every heart in the family.

Arven comforts his sister until she sleeps again. Back in his own room, his mind races. Eventually, exhaustion drags him down, but uneasily.

EXT. SCHOOL – MORNING (NEXT DAY)

Arven wakes earlier than usual, determined not to be late. He even stops by May's house, joining her in her father's car on the way to school.

Narration: The ride feels calm, almost normal. But Arven cannot shake the weight of last night—the shared dream still gnaws at him.

EXT. SCHOOL GROUNDS – DAY

The campus hums with excitement—it's Sports Day. Banners wave, students cheer, and competitions begin.

Arven steps into the running contest, nerves tingling.

Narration: He never thought himself the fastest, but as soon as the whistle blows—something inside him surges. His legs move like lightning.

He crosses the finish line far ahead. His shoes tear apart under the speed.

Ray: Did you see that?!

Nico: His shoes exploded!

Suzan: That was unreal!

Arven stares at his feet, stunned.

Arven (thinking): Did I really... run that fast?

Later, he watches May play volleyball. Grace and Fritz's team dominate. May's team loses, but Arven cheers her on anyway.

Arven: You did great! Don't worry.

May (smiling): Thanks.

EXT. CAMPUS CAFE – AFTERNOON

The group gathers after the games, snacks scattered between them.

Suzan: Remember that prank last month?

Ray: Nico still hasn't lived it down!

Nico (groaning): You'll never let me forget, huh?

John: You guys are impossible.

Arven (laughing): Honestly, this is why I love our group.

Narration: For a while, the world feels light. Laughter, food, friendship—these small things matter most.

EXT. SCHOOL HALLWAY – AFTERNOON

As the group disperses, Arven heads down the corridor. He bumps into Grace, nearly knocking her books loose.

Arven: Oh—sorry!

Grace (startled): No, it's fine...

Arven notices her faint smile doesn't quite reach her eyes.

Arven (concerned): You okay? You seem... distracted.

Grace hesitates, then lowers her gaze.

Grace: It's nothing. Just... too much on my mind.

Arven pauses, sensing more than she admits.

Arven (gently): If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here.

Grace softens slightly, her guarded look easing.

Grace: ...Thanks, Arven.

They part ways, but the moment lingers with him.

Narration: Sometimes, even the smallest cracks in a smile can tell the biggest stories.

EXT. NIGHT MARKET / PLAZA – NIGHT

After school, the friends wander the plaza—street food, games, music filling the air.

Ray and Nico argue over a game. Suzan drags John to a food stall. But Arven walks beside May, a little apart from the rest.

The lights flicker in her eyes. She smiles softly, brushing her hair back. For a brief moment, it feels perfect.

Narration: The night is alive with joy. But beneath the laughter, unease lingers. Arven can't shake the sense that something greater—something darker—is waiting.

Later, they part ways. Arven heads home, the quiet streets amplifying his thoughts.

INT. ARVEN'S ROOM – NIGHT

Arven prepares for bed, brushing his teeth, setting his alarm. He lies down, staring at the ceiling.

Narration: But peace does not come. As sleep takes him, the strange dream returns.

A blinding figure. A voice calling for help. A sense of urgency that claws at his chest.

Arven jolts awake, drenched in sweat.

Arven (whispering): What... what is happening to me?

The night feels heavier than ever.

To be continued...
