A few weeks later, Reina has moved in with Nnamdi. One morning they have visitors. Three Elders have been selected out of the council of Elders to warn Nnamdi about the consequences of his actions. At their arrival, Reina is sweeping the compound. She bows to greet upon sighting them.
Reina: "Good morning elders what can we offer you?"
Elder 1: "Don't bother yourself. Is Nnamdi at home?"
Reina: "Yes, he is. Let me call him. (Calls out) My love, my love we have visitors"
(Meanwhile the Elders turn to look at one another and shake their heads. Nnamdi appears briefly wearing a singlet and a wrapper hanging loosely on his waist, he has obviously just got out of bed)
Nnamdi: (Clears his throat) "Oh my elders. I hope you all are fine. Sorry for keeping you waiting"
Reina : (turns to leave)
Elder 2: "No, don't go, stay. The matter we came here for concerns you both. You know it is said that the toad doesn't run in the daytime. He who uncovers a masquerade must get ready to run. We have a message from the kindred, we have been hearing and seeing things. Let's go straight to the point"
Elder 3: (clears throat) "In summary we the elders of umuAwusa kindred have decided you must end whatever it is you two are doing.
Your union is forbidden, it's unholy in the sight of both God and man. Nnamdi, you married Ekwutos, you paid dowry to her family. She is your wife and you must take her back no matter what. Our tradition doesn't let you take another wife if she disagrees, besides it's alleged that this girl (points to Reina) is a prostitute. Although we don't have concrete proof, we won't ignore that allegation because I believe that in every rumour there's an iota of truth"
Elder 1: "All that having been said, Nnamdi you must return her to her family with a live goat as an act of penitence. Or else... You won't be able to avoid what is coming"
Nnamdi: (stares at the three old men as if lacking comprehension of the situation)
"I have heard you people but I don't think you old men have any right to tell me how to live my life. This is my house and I decide who I bring in. I know this is all Ekwutos' handwork, very evil woman. In fact all of you get out of here now!!"
Elder 1: "To be forewarned is to be forearmed. When all hell lets loose, don't say nobody warned you" (The three elders exit stage)
Reina: "(sighs) I even thought they came for something useful. They've started with their useless laws, can't they just let people be, Must everybody be like them. See how they just spoilt my mood"
Nnamdi: "Obim don't mind them. Let's go inside. Come and massage my body. I've started missing your touch"
Reina:(laughing childishly) "You this man ehnn. Just now I came out you're saying you're missing me. Will you even let me rest at all?"
Nnamdi: "No rest for you oo"
