Stephanie's POV
I was trying. I swear, I was trying hard to be present and not let my anger show but Cane's presence was making it very hard to do.
I mean, how could he? He was working with the same person who wanted me dead yet he lied to my face like it was nothing.
A gentle tug brought me out of my reverie. I looked and saw Josh looking up at me. "Mommy? Are you okay?"
I bent so I was at his level and patted his head. "Yes darling, I'm fine."
He shook his head disagreeing. "I'm not dumb mommy. You're not happy. You're still mad at daddy, aren't you?"
I could only offer him a small smile but I couldn't think of anything to say.
"Please mommy," he said, placing both his palms together. "Forgive daddy. I know he can be very annoying and frustrating at times but he's a good man and I'm sure he's sorry too. Please?"
I wish he understood, but he didn't. And I couldn't explain it to him either. "I'll think about it." I said and he jumped happily.
