Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Within seven steps, which one is faster, a fist or a crossbow?

With an excited cry, Ryan pulled a heavy, green glowing Horn and dozens of glittering Mora from the corpse.

"Loot drop! This is how it should be!"

The crisp sound of Mora brought a pleasant feeling.

"When I go to Mondstadt, I definitely need to buy some shoes. I'm really sick of being barefoot."

He buried the Mitachurl in the nearby pit and picked up the Horn.

This kind of thing was Alchemy Materials; he could sell it for Mora or use it himself in the future.

He returned to the pond, which didn't have many fish, and swam to catch fish, training his reaction speed.

Climbing onto the bank, he set up a branch to dry his clothes.

Today's breakfast consisted of bird eggs that had fallen from the trees due to the wind and rain last night.

Mushrooms grew very quickly after the rain.

He only picked the ones he recognized and gathered a large pot full.

After finishing everything, he began to train.

Tai Chi, running, push-ups, sit-ups… plus Military Combat Moves.

In the afternoon, he wrapped his spoils in his tent, picked up his wooden stick, and set off eagerly.

"After taking down the last Hilichurl, the Exquisite Chest will be mine." Ryan was full of motivation. The Hilichurl camp had no Samachurl, only a few ordinary Hilichurl and imprisoned Slime.

Not robbing them…

Not helping them keep it safe would be letting himself down.

Having lost the boisterous Mitachurl, who held a high status in the tribe and could eat a lot of meat in one sitting, the Hilichurl were a bit downcast and no longer danced.

They huddled around the pot, dejected.

The Fourth Calamity, the terrifying bipedal ape, was closing in.

Crawling on the ground, silently sneaking.

Ryan didn't care about the muddy ground after the rain; he used his wooden stick to push aside the grass, revealing a gap.

Looking at the crossbow in the Hilichurl's hand, he found an angle and moved over little by little.

With his palms on the ground, his body lifted, and his thighs squatting, he adopted a ready-to-run posture and charged out fiercely.

The Hilichurl, having witnessed the successive deaths of their companions, were exceptionally vigilant.

Upon hearing the movement, they picked up the crossbow in their hands, faced Ryan, and drew an arrow.

At this moment, Ryan had already arrived among them, within seven steps.

In his eyes, the two Hilichurl on the left and right were drawing arrows and loading their crossbows.

"Seize the crossbow."

Ryan made a decision instantly.

He swung the wooden stick to the right, hitting one Hilichurl and causing him to lose his vision.

He took a step and lunged at the Hilichurl on the left.

Military Combat Moves included techniques for disarming knives and guns; although the Hilichurl was holding a crossbow, it was similar to a knife or gun.

"Within seven steps, which is faster? My fist or the crossbow?"

"As long as I'm faster than the Hilichurl pulling the trigger, it'll work!"

He snatched the crossbow, then delivered an elbow strike and a kick to the groin.

The arrow shot wildly by the other Hilichurl grazed his shoulder and flew past.

He kicked the Hilichurl away and snatched the arrow.

With a glance, he knew how to use this simple crossbow.

He jumped to the side, drew the bowstring, and aimed at the Hilichurl who was also holding a crossbow.

"I bet this arrow is faster than yours!"

Ryan's pupils expanded and contracted, his focus fixed, and the arrow shot out.

The target: the Hilichurl's heart.

Here, it would not be blocked by the mask.

"-a-!" The Hilichurl let out a tragic cry.

Ryan stepped forward and kicked away the crossbow that the opponent had dropped.

He reloaded an arrow to deal with the second Hilichurl.

After two arrows, the Rock-throwing Hilichurl arrived, throwing a Shitou.

At the same time, a Shield Hilichurl, holding a wooden stick and a wooden shield, a perfect blend of offense and defense, surrounded him.

He picked up a bundle of arrows from the ground.

Ryan retreated while dealing with the Rock-throwing Hilichurl.

"This thing is much easier to use than a wooden stick!"

He found that among the dozen or so arrows, besides most being dull, ordinary sturdy arrows, there were also three sharp arrows with a green glow and patterns on their surface.

They were of the same quality as that heavy Horn.

Several arrows were blocked by the Shield Hilichurl, who kept closing in.

Ryan leaped over a horned clay pot containing Slime.

Suddenly, he noticed a red-haired figure emerging from under the stairs of the outpost hut.

"Torch Hilichurl! No! It's a Bomber Hilichurl!"

His heart sank.

The opponent picked up a Fire Slime, staggering, and laboriously aimed at Ryan, then threw it fiercely.

The Fire Slime arced through the air and exploded upon landing.

Ryan rolled several times, mud blurring his vision. He wiped his sleeve and then shot several arrows in quick succession towards that direction.

Finally, he made the opponent fall to the ground, losing combat capability.

"Only you are left!"

The hot air, carrying Fire Element, scorched his lungs.

His skin exposed outside his clothes, thanks to his timely evasion and the mud covering him when he crawled, did not suffer too much DMG.

He took a deep breath, looking at the last Shield Hilichurl.

"Sure enough, shields are the king of the Teyvat version!"

He threw down the crossbow and picked up his wooden stick, charging forward.

"Thump, thump, thump!"

The opponent's blocking was orderly; Ryan couldn't find an opening for a while.

They faced each other, circling the clay pot.

He tried striking with the wooden stick as a test.

Ryan thought of the knowledge from the game: to deal with this wooden shield, Fire Element power was needed.

Teyvat had its own Law.

He walked near the hanging pot, pulled out a wooden stick with an extinguished flame, and tried to light it with the flint in his hand for a long time.

Finally, he kicked over a horned clay pot, freeing the small Fire Slime in the water.

To make it reignite!

He plunged the stick down, and only then did the wooden stick ignite.

The Burning stick pressed against the Hilichurl's Round Shield, directly causing the opponent's shield to catch fire.

While the opponent was extinguishing the fire, Ryan picked up the crossbow and shot a precise arrow.

The Shield Hilichurl fell in response.

Now, apart from the Slime, nothing in the Hilichurl camp could threaten him anymore.

The Slime in the horned clay pot also couldn't stop him from opening the treasure chest.

Although he really wanted to experience the thrill of opening a chest in front of a Slime, it was better not to leave enemies nearby when enjoying the moment of victory.

Just in case!

"Cute Slime, take an arrow from me!"

Standing ten meters away, aiming the crossbow at the Slime bound in place, Ryan pulled the trigger expressionlessly.

These Slime had no weaknesses like flesh-and-blood creatures, making them unexpectedly difficult to kill.

He almost used up all his arrows before their bodies disintegrated and turned into elements!

On the spot, some Slime Condensate was left behind.

Ryan frowned, tore some cloth from the Hilichurl's fence, tied it into a pouch, and packed the masks, arrows, crossbows, Slime Condensate… these spoils of war.

He was thinking,

Where does the Slime's life manifest?

Why can attacks make them die?

"Slime are a gathering of elements, so… is it that attacks destroy the stability of their internal body structure, causing the elements to riot, explode, and dissipate, leading to their death?"

Ryan thought of a guess and felt that he had the potential to become a Teyvat Scholar.

He washed his hands in a clay pot with water.

He took some carrots, white radishes, and large cabbages from the wooden box in the Hilichurl outpost hut and cooked a meal on the spot.

These radishes grew exceptionally large, as thick and long as a thigh.

"Teyvat's soil is very fertile!" Ryan drank the vegetable and radish soup to replenish the energy consumed by his body, then entered the outpost hut again.

He rubbed his hands with an expectant look!

"May the luck of the European serve me!"

He directed his gaze to the Exquisite Chest placed in the center.

His heart thumped, as exciting as pulling a gold item in the game!
