However, even Dane didn't expect that Sinestro's first target wouldn't be Oa, nor Earth.
Instead, it was his home Planet, Korugar.
When Sinestro returned to Korugar with his Corps, the Resistance was launching a major offensive against his city.
The old order had long been destroyed; Sinestro's prolonged absence seemed to confirm rumors of his demise.
People resisting his rule sprang up like mushrooms all over the World.
Perhaps some of these people initially genuinely wanted to liberate the populace and restore freedom to Korugar.
But as time went on, more and more people became entangled in the struggle for power and profit, no longer fighting for Justice, but for gain, for resources, for power.
Some wanted to become the King of Korugar, just as Sinestro had done before.
Thus, the initial liberation movement gradually began to sour, and the World descended into wars for power.
It was then that some civilians suddenly realized.
Even Sinestro's oppressive order was safer than the current chaotic World.
Korugar did not improve with Sinestro's disappearance; on the contrary, it became worse.
Some couldn't help but wish for Sinestro's return, even if it meant high-pressure rule as before, as long as they could survive safely.
"Anyone will do, as long as this war can be ended, even Sinestro, I will pledge my loyalty to you."
Amidst the ruins of the battlefield, a lone Korugar citizen prayed to the heavens.
"I hear your wish, child."
He received a response, and the Korugar citizen looked up blankly.
It was Sinestro, descending from the sky with his loyal yellow Corps.
He was no longer a Green Lantern.
The Korugar citizen thought, and then a yellow light illuminated the entire battlefield.
Uncontrollable fear emerged from the depths of their hearts; in the combat zone, all warring parties simultaneously heard that voice:
"Citizens of Korugar, your King has returned!"
Yellow Fire appeared in the sky, pouring its wrath upon the Earth!
Under the Emotional Spectrum beam, everything it touched turned to Fire; whether people or objects, all became corpses under the Emotional Spectrum energy.
"Go, my Corps, kill all those who resist me on this Planet."
"No prisoners are needed, nor surrendering war criminals; all those involved in the Resistance movement are to be killed, every last one!"
"For Sinestro!"
The Corps roared fanatically, manifesting weapons and unleashing a massacre on ground and aerial forces.
As Sinestro said, there was no forgiveness, no prisoners.
All who dared stand before the Sinestro Corps were slain!
Sinestro announced his return in a more brutal manner than ever before.
This time, he had no more pointless mercy; he had been too merciful before, merely imprisoning dissenters?
These scumbags should all be executed!
It would save food and maintain the purity of the citizens, and the remaining people only needed to be obedient!
In just a few days, the Sinestro Corps wiped out all rebellions on Korugar; traitors and dissenters all died without exception.
Korugar was once again brought under Sinestro's rule, and Sinestro promulgated even harsher laws than before.
He demanded that everyone strictly follow the civic code he established; any slight disobedience would be met with severe punishment.
The tyranny and despotism Hal had imagined had now truly come to pass.
After consolidating his gains on Korugar, Sinestro set his sights on Oa.
However, he was not impatient; as an old member of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro knew that the Guardians were not his biggest threat.
The Green Lanterns were, or more strictly speaking, the strongest among the Green Lanterns was their biggest obstacle in the future.
And Sinestro had already set a trap for that Green Lantern; he did not intend to eliminate her in this battle; she could provide greater value in the hands of the Sinestro Corps.
On Earth, Dane told the Justice League members what Hal Jordan had sensed through his lantern ring.
Hal had made up his mind to help Oa, although he didn't know how much of a role he could play.
He had intended to go alone, but Dane stopped him, citing his membership in the Justice League, and once again gathered all members.
"That's the situation; the Universe is both vast and small. If Sinestro breaks through Oa, Earth is very likely to be the next target."
"Even if not, even if Sinestro temporarily forgets Earth, no one can say when he might remember us during his conquest of the Universe."
Dane looked around at the members and said, "Do you all think we should intervene in this matter?"
Batman was the first to object: "These are still just Hal's speculations for now; in fact, this incident may not be as you imagine, right?"
Hal had to admit he was right; he really didn't like Batman.
Constantine scratched his head, "Boss, you know me; if you ask me to cast some black magic or something, that's fine."
"But a space war? That's not my specialty!"
Dane gave him a sidelong glance: "You're just here to listen; no one is asking you to go to the battlefield."
"Oh, that's good." After saying that, he picked up a cigarette and started smoking.
He had just put the cigarette between his fingers when he saw Batman across from him giving him a disapproving look.
"Can't I smoke?" he asked in surprise.
Batman's white eye lenses seemed to narrow, and Constantine grumbled as he put away his cigarette.
Superman thought for a moment and partially agreed with Batman.
"I think Batman has a point; until things are certain, I don't think we should make a decision."
"Exactly, protecting Earth is the Justice League's primary duty!" Martian Manhunter nodded.
Whether as Martian Manhunter or as General Swanwick, protecting Earth was the most important thing to him.
Dane looked at Diana; she didn't speak, just smiled gently at him... 0
This time, Zatanna noticed something going on between the two of them, and a sense of crisis suddenly rose within her.
So she said to Dane, "If you want to go, I'll go with you!"
The moment she said that, Diana's eyes instantly sharpened.
She immediately stared at Zatanna, and Zatanna glared back without showing weakness; it was as if an electric current connected them tightly through their gazes.
Dane pretended not to see, but he thought to himself that he should try to keep these two apart in the future, preferably not meeting unless absolutely necessary.
He would just have to work harder, running between the two.
So Dane tapped the table, and the discussion quieted down.
"Gathering everyone's opinions, can I assume that you do not agree to aid Oa?"
Batman asked again, "With your abilities, can't you predict the exact outcome of this matter?"
Dane closed his eyes and bluffed, "My predictions are mostly for disasters on Earth; if this matter is destined to be resolved, then it won't affect Earth."
Batman understood his meaning; although he hadn't foreseen Earth being in peril because of this, he wasn't sure if it was because they resolved it beforehand or because this disaster wouldn't affect Earth in the first place.
This was an uncertain question.
Moreover, according to Dane's previous statements, the future could indeed change due to their proactive actions.
If it was certain that the future could be changed, then it could become better, but of course, it could also become worse.
So he threw the question back to Dane: "So what are you thinking?"
"I guess you don't want to go to Oa at all, do you?" Dane asked with a smile.
Batman nodded without hesitation: "Earth needs us more, and we also need someone to stay here."
Dane didn't object: "You're right; I've never thought that helping other Planets is more important than protecting Earth 1.2."
"However, if we can move the battlefield outside of Earth, I think it would be better for Earth... How about this."
He said seriously, "Hal and I will go scout first, see what the situation is like on Oa, and then inform everyone once we've confirmed."
He turned to Clark: "Given what you just said, can I assume..."
"If things are truly as Hal and I predict, you'll be willing to help?"
Clark emphasized, "Actually, even if things aren't as you predict, as long as you need me, I can help!"
This completely stumped Martian Manhunter; he looked at Clark expressionlessly.
What does that mean, that I'm heartless?
Batman continued to maintain his cool persona, completely disregarding Clark's words.
Red Hood, Nightwing, Barbara, and others, being ordinary humans, could only watch the big shots speak, trembling and silent.
While they were still agonizing over a few gang issues, were the big shots already considering lofty problems like saving the Universe?
We are out of our league!.
