It was time to head back and meet up with Pinky and Rezex. There was lot to figure out, but not enough time to figure it out.
There was no signs to help point us towards doc or Tess. The enemy was also still lurking around here somewhere so it wasn't safe to stick around for too long.
So this feels like the chance to see how much she really knows about Rezex. He's definitely been there a lot longer than me so I'm sure she'll be able to help.
"Before we reach Pinky and Rezex, can you tell me a bit about him?" I asked with a bit of curiosity.
"About Pinky or Rezex?" She responded with her own question.
"Rezex." I answered.
"I don't mind telling you about Rezex, we'll make a stop by the armory before that and I'll try not to be too loud." Reika said before she started to talk.
(Reika begins talking about Rezex.)
About a year or two ago Karma.exe was at one of its roughest points in time. We didn't have a lot of people and it felt like everything was slowly coming apart.
2079 was one of the hardest years we had because of our low resources, but we did have a plan to get more. Pinky and Tess ended up coming up with a pretty good game plan.
It resulted with us raiding a storage facility on the east side of the city, one where they kept a lot of the materials we needed.
This was also the first time we met Rezex. His face has always been covered by that silver fox mask of his, a lot of rumors suggested that maybe he got terrible burns or that he has a disfigured face.
Regardless his first appearance was met with the same mask and the same robotic voice we've all come to know.
He was mostly running a security job at the time and had the luck of running into us. His mask didn't have the special mana implants at the time so he wasn't as crafty but his speed was something to admire.
"So he's always been fast with blades?" I asked with a bit of curiosity.
"Yes. But he didn't have the strength to compete with Pinky." Reika answered with a calm tone.
As we started raiding the facility the alarms started to go off, security was all over us. Of course that wouldn't stop us from actually taking what we needed.
The place had a lot of materials for metal that would make a difference with our members. Especially Pinky, he was the first one to get some of the special implants that we made.
But Pinky and Rezex ended up going head to head with each other, trading blows one after another.
The fight was intense to watch while we finished off the rest of the security detail there. Pinky definitely got cut up quite a bit by the end of the fight but he still managed to come out on top.
Rezex on the other hand... Wasn't so lucky. He was pretty defeated and Pinky was about to finish him off, but I didn't want to lose out on someone with such talent.
Speed like his, that is something rare, something that no one has ever seen before.
His mask was pretty banged up from his fight with Pinky but Doc managed to fix it up with some improvements. Doc also won't ever tell us what his face looked like or if anything we've heard was true.
Rezex is fairly young too, I'd say he is about 19 right now. So young talent like that is hard to find.
It isn't uncommon to see people his age running jobs if they have the proper skill set for it. We did try to ask him about his real name but just like you, he gave us a name like that. Rezex.
The two of you love to keep your real names a secret, not that I mind it that much. Maybe at first but after that it wasn't so bad.
His age was probably the only real thing he gave us, but you never gave us your age did you?
"23." I said without any hesitation.
Yet you've never been a part of any gang or major group like Rezex. It is definitely quite surprising but he also told us about a lot of the kills he got during his time as security.
He worked a lot of contract jobs to get the money he needed for metal.
None of his current cybernetics are related to his insane speed, that's the craziest part about it.
(Reika stopped talking about Rezex suddenly.)
I could hear footsteps a bit down the hall from us, we already made it to the armory so we were just getting ready while we waited. Rezex and Pinky should already have finished their check.
Lotus/9 probably wouldn't need to rely entirely on guns either but the two of them should be able to handle a fight. Even if it is only a temporary one at that.
But Pinky hasn't gotten a chance to recover just yet and Rezex is also wounded from his encounter with them.
It might be best to grab whatever is useful and find them. I don't know how high the odds are of them surviving with the current state of their wounds.
But then again, Rezex and Pinky both have cybernetics that I'm unaware of.
Those footsteps also could be them heading towards us, I doubt that it would be lotus/9. They wouldn't want anyone to know they are coming but neither would the others.
Kind of a tricky situation to think about.
"People are coming. I don't know if it is Rezex and Pinky, or Lotus/9 members." I said quietly while loading up the LZR-01.
The LZR-01 with enough ammo to fight off an army is kind of a good enough combo for me, not that I'm opposed to using more weapons.
Killing is killing regardless. It doesn't matter what is used to do it.
