Lucien's POV
The sky was fully awake by the time I drove into the villa. Braelyn was strapped in the passenger's seat fast asleep. The car engine slowly stopped and I unbuckled my seat belt and hers before carrying her into the villa
She was curled up in my arms snuggling into me with her head resting on my shoulders. Her breath was fanning on my skin in soft jolts..
I walked through the foyer towards the stairs...soft humming sounds echoed through the walls. My eyes fell on Agnes, who was walking from the kitchen.
She heard my footsteps....a sharp intake of air followed with the look of pure unrestrained horror on her face. She almost went blank at the sight of me in a torn shirt with unsightly scratches and bruises spreading from my shoulders to my back....
"Good morning..." she could barely say, trying to process the sight as her gaze shifted to Braelyn, who was completely covered with my jacket, asleep.
