"I told you! That silly vampire chose me! Look at this!"
Ruby hopped onto a rattan chair, holding her phone to each pair of eyes. The screen displayed a popular app among singles looking for partners. However, what caught her attention was a notification she had just received.
Jayden Gavian invites you to the Loveroom.
Ofcourse the five Northern Wolfpacks spontaneously cheered, except for Glenn Maximoff, who nodded proudly. The Alpha clapped his hands slowly, full of respect.
"Wow, you are a true queen," Glenn praised.
Ruby tossed her chin at Haris Razzega, who was quietly reading a vampire journal.
"Thank the brains of the beta, which is the pride of the Northern Wolves," Ruby said.
Noticing several eyes on him, Haris put down his journal and sipped his coffee. "It's nothing. Basic vampire knowledge is elementary to learn."
"When are we going to give that stupid vampire a reckoning?" Thomas interrupted. "I can't wait to break his fangs!"
"You're an idiot!" Shey snapped, her voice rising five octaves, after slapping her lover on the head. "We have to be careful. If we get caught, it could start World War III!"
"I, you know, was just asking, Shey Harumi, My beloved gamma," Thomas whimpered, stroking her head. "If you continue to abuse the most handsome Delta of the century, I will not marry you."
"Then, I'll just marry Glenn."
"Gosh... when will you guys stop using titles whenever you argue? It's so ridiculous," Glenn protested.
Shey stuck her tongue out at Thomas, deliberately wrapping her arm around Glenn's. Shey's temple rested against the Alpha's muscular arm. At the same time, the man's index finger scratched the edge of his scarred eyebrow in surprise.
Amidst the domestic commotion, Ruby's breathing became heavy. Half-stunned, she racked her brain. The green light was before her, but the path ahead was full of mines. She was about to enter the cage of a bloodsucking creature.
In truth, Ruby had always hated that reckless creature, even without a reason.
No, she could have made up a thousand reasons.
And now, her ultimate goal was clear.
Ruby's blood boils every time the Baskerville police arrive.
Yesterday, a child would have found a body if the wolf clan hadn't interrupted their play. A week ago, the police chief and two of his officers spent the night after discovering the seventh body in three months.
The vampire company dumps the carcasses of their prey in Baskerville Forest, which is near the home of the Northern Wolf clan. Whatever is found in the forest, the Baskerville wolf village is an easy target for investigation. Although they are always careful in their hunting, the slightest opening can threaten the lives of the Northern Wolves. Ruby must also keep Baskerville out of human reach.
"What's wrong? Having any other problems?" Glenn whispered.
Ruby gasped. She realized Shey and Thomas had left the gazebo. That young couple had transformed into wolves, fighting in the yard.
Barlie Yu, a fifteen-year-old Omega, had just returned from helping his mother. He shared some snacks and joined Haris in watching the familiar scene.
"Are you nervous?" Glenn asked again.
"A little bit," Ruby said. "This is my first time with a muggle guy. Pretending to be on a date without knowing anything makes me afraid of messing up."
"Why not ask My Luna for help? She's good at this stuff," Glenn said.
"You know what? Anna's been avoiding me. I consider her a friend, but not her. She considers me a rival, maybe forever," Ruby grumbled, tossing her bangs aside to hide her annoyance.
"Let me persuade her"
Ruby rolled her eyes. "Come on, it'll only get worse. She'll be jealous that I can roam freely around you while she's training the wolf girl dorm."
"You guys are so complicated. Yet you play an important role for us."
"You don't understand, Glenn," Haris snapped. "Some women's confidence is like a bubble. It easily bursts when hit by a stronger bubble. Baskerville has many strong female wolves, but only Ruby can defeat you, The Alpha. Moreover,Ruby is close to you."
Glenn's cough sounded awkward. He smoothed his hair, which was a mullet inspired by the gangster film.
"So, what do I do? I don't want to die a foolish death, defeated by the descendants of the wolf king just to fight for the Alpha position. It's better to serve the wolf queen."
Hearing her title called, Ruby jumped to her feet and banged her fist on the wooden table until the legs broke. "Forget it. I'm going into town and starting to pick out some pretty dresses for my date!" she exclaimed.
"Haris, can you give me a ride?"
"With pleasure, Your Majesty," replied the man with the two dimples.
Glenn's brow furrowed faintly. "Can I Join?"
"No, unless you can carry it. Your Luna is in the car."
The car's exhaust billowed, indicating the engine was warming up. Haris opened the door for Ruby. She walked around and took her turn getting into the driver's seat. Simultaneously, the rear seat door opened. Haris and Ruby were amazed to see Anna barge in. The blonde girl crossed her arms and sat with her back straight and composed.
Even though we just talked about it.
"Your Majesty, you will allow me to help, right?" Anna said.
"Oh, umm, yeah. Thanks," Ruby said, scratching her un-itchy temple.
To cover up her awkwardness, Ruby straightened her posture, leaning forward. She felt like she always had to be careful about her actions to avoid offending Luna. Ruby wanted peace, especially after catching Anna arguing with Glenn about her.
"Do you think having Zeta in our clan is a blessing? Do her titles and powers make much of a difference? She didn't make this village rich. We all survive in our own ways. She's not that special. Stop clinging to titles and power."
Every time Anna's words rang out, Ruby's heart fluttered.
With the notification from the dating app arriving, Ruby has the perfect opportunity to prove her role as Zeta.
"Let's find a shop near Jayden's company. We can also observe the CEO of that love slave," Ruby said.
Haris nodded. "I understand."
The silent journey took forty minutes. The glass window slid down, and Ruby poked her head out slightly, observing the building with the red eye logo.
Cursed place.
People in formal attire, complete with ID cards hanging around their necks, come and go without suspicion of being murderous monsters. Meanwhile, the wolf clan must face the trapping questions thrown at them by humans.
Ruby was willing to bet the coffee cups the employees were holding contained fresh human blood. Should she run now and make them spill blood on the street?
Ruby felt a vibration in her jeans pocket. After accepting the chat room invitation, the man immediately sent three message bubbles.
Jayden
Thank you for the opportunity to chat, Beautiful Lady.
My name is Jayden Gavian, and I'm twenty-five years old. I've worked as CEO at the company behind the app we're playing. Please check my details using the link I sent if you don't believe me.
The second message bubble contains a web address using the name key. Vousinjay. co, blueprinted.
Jayden
However, it doesn't matter.
How about it? Would you like to continue our conversation?
Ruby's lips pursed. What a stiff, vapid, and narcissistic message. To her, annoying men are those who assume all women are materialistic; they immediately tell her their jobs without even being asked. Or it's to look cool. In reality, Ruby's fingers are adept at typing nonsense.
Ruby
Wow! Is it really the owner of Vousme who contacted me? Is this part of the app testing?
Jayden
Haha, Miss Crystal sounds nice. Of course not.
Ruby
We should plan a meeting soon. I can't wait to meet such a great man. It would be an honor.
Jayden
Tomorrow's the weekend. I'm preparing the most beautiful dinner. How about it?
Ruby
Accepted.
