Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 (Area 2 part-8)

Once in front of the bone throne, I sit down and Watson sits in a corner of the room. I sharpen my senses and hold the hilt of Scarlet Rose in my left hand.

Outside, I sense the Mud Men devouring the remains of the Orcs.

We remain silent for a few hours. As I drink water, we hear the distant howls of wolves and a loud roar.

They must be abyssal wolves, because werewolves in this world generally like to travel alone due to their territorial and violent temperament. The other must be a beast-type monster. It seems they are fighting over territory after the Orc Shaman disappeared.

The next thing the winning side, whether the monster or the abyssal wolves, will do is come and claim this territory.

"It's going to be a fucking night."

••••

Night is falling and the temperature is rising. Even though we are inside the large log house built by the orcs, we are not safe at all. The large house doesn't even have a door, so I am on the lookout for anything that dares to enter.

"System, how many fear points do I have?" I ask in my mind.

[Fear points available: 18.74]

"Sell me a fear regeneration pill," I indicate in my mind.

[Sorry, host: the store only offers one pill per day]

"Why didn't you tell me that before? The store doesn't even warn you," I complain in my mind.

[It wouldn't be a scary mission if it were easy]

"Damn it," after cursing in my mind, I get up and see the throne. Underneath the throne is the tunnel where those three women are.

I wait until night has fallen. I can only see light coming from the direction of the broken door, through which the light of the two moons partially enters. The rest of the surroundings of the large house are extremely dark.

I push the throne.

"Watson, get down."

After Watson enters the tunnel, I push the throne again. I sit down and wait.

Near the village, you can hear the movement of trees being moved by an unknown force, but one that is undoubtedly as strong as the Smiling One I killed last time.

"The winner has arrived," I thought as I drew Scarlet Rose.

The night is cold, and I can't help but think how sweet it would be to have my face between Lina's large, warm breasts. Unfortunately, I have a cleanup mission right after completing this punishment mission.

Under the trees and around the perimeter of the village, most of the Mud Men have retreated, and those who remain appear to be succumbing, or so it seems, as their fear is fading.

With my senses slightly heightened to avoid exposing myself, I can hear several legs moving and burrowing into the cold forest floor.

"An extremely territorial creature. One that melts the insides of its prey while they are still alive. Several legs moving in coordination. It can only be a Diabolical Spider of category 3 to 5 skulls. And apparently this one is 4 skulls," I think without letting my guard down, as specters and monsters are unpredictable beings.

I hear the breeze whistling in the forest, the river seems to sound from different directions, apparently I am falling victim to the hallucinations with which this forest causes people to get lost within it.

As I remain seated on the throne of bones, I am not concerned, I only focus on the sources of fear near the big house.

The wind continues to blow steadily.

"This forest is amazing; the hustle and bustle stops when the terrifying hours approach.

I sigh, I have Scarlet Rose in my hands. I think something could happen at any moment. The silence is so deep that it makes me think that the slightest sound can be heard in this forest.

The minutes pass, and although my heartbeat is calm, it echoes like a drum. Every time I breathe, it feels like a stormy breeze is coming and going. This atmosphere is so sickening.

I try to concentrate because if I lose my focus, I won't be able to watch over the surroundings of the big house.

Explosion!

Fuck you!

Bang! Bang!

Debris and splinters from logs fly through the air. I cover my skin in fear to avoid serious injury.

I fire two bullets in the direction of the explosion!

I run in the opposite direction of the explosion.

I jump, the side of my abdomen hurts, there is a bleeding cut, I run towards the entrance of the house, while sharpening my senses.

I jump, instilling fear in my legs to get further away.

I roll out of the big house that turns to rubble before my eyes.

I don't have time to think, soon more logs explode and a huge spider over three meters tall appears, with shiny fangs dripping venom and legs with sharp black claws.

It's a monster, terrifying.

One of the spider's legs is slightly bent, and its hemolymph is spilling out. Apparently, it was wounded by my bullets.

"That damn thing must be furious," I think as I instill fear in my body and run around the rubble of the big house.

Bang! Bang!

Blood!

Hemolymph!

I roll on the ground. That damn thing is strong. I take two shots that only blow out two of its many eyes.

"Maybe I underestimated it. Yes, killing that smiling one made me overconfident, I think as I look at my right arm, attached to my body by only a few pieces of flesh after receiving a direct blow from the spider's legs.

Scarlet Rose is a few meters away from me. I am so badly injured that even breathing hurts.

The spider is getting closer.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

-Here! Here!

Bang!

Bang!

I buy a healing pill, although it doesn't help much, it eases the pain when breathing a little, allowing me to run using all the fear I've saved up.
