Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 (Area 4 part-3)

I lie down and use my backpack as a pillow, soon after, I heard Lila giggle.

"Does she do it to annoy me, or is it an acquired habit?", I ask myself until I finally manage to get some sleep, it's better to risk it, because if Lila doesn't kill me, I'll still die from exhaustion.

When I open my eyes, a part of Lila's red blanket covers my body and it is quite a warm blanket.

-It's your turn. You rest. -I tell her, and she nods and lies down on my shoulder.

While she sleeps, I draw scarlet rose, put another bullet in her, put the revolver's Drum back in place, and a third of my fear was absorbed and compressed into the bullet I had just placed in the revolver's chamber.

"That's two bullets that could save my life," I think to myself as I place Scarlet Rose back in its holster.

While I keep watch, I hear the hooves of a horse, it is a loud sound impossible to ignore coming from the distance, the footsteps are constant, so it seems that it is not looking for anything specific, it is just walking around the area. A few minutes later, the footsteps are heard near the building we are in.

Lila is waking up and was about to speak but I covered her mouth and shook my head. She understood immediately.

We remained quiet, silent and motionless, until the footsteps disappeared in the distance.

I take a bottle of water out of my backpack and drink a quarter of the water and store the bottle back in my backpack.

At that moment I remember Sigfreud telling me that many groups of aspirants returned badly wounded or dead, and that this was normal in Rodem City.

I suppose this is the same as gaining experience in places where the terrain allows one to use tactics to survive, and destroy monsters and supernatural beings.

-The sounds of horse hooves mostly belong to wraiths, which are supernatural beings in the 4 or 5 skull category. This changes the danger of area 4 from rank D to rank C or higher. -I indicate, although that can only be reported if we survive.

-You should go back to sleep. -I suggest to Lila, but she shakes her head.

-Then let me know if anything happens. -I indicate and then lie down to sleep.

A few hours later, we walk through the streets, I watch the roads, to distinguish signs of movement with my tracking ability that allows me to perceive any change or abnormality in the terrain close to my eyes.

"Apparently there are more than a dozen zombies towards a road to the right, and there is an unknown beast to the left", after some thought, I try to perceive the fear of the unknown beast, and in the end I pick out the zombies.

As we move forward, I keep my guard up, to be prepared in case the group of would-be hunters come close.

We walk along an increasingly cracked concrete path with grass rising from the cracks.

The closer we get to the zombies, the stench increases, and the slower we walk.

I raise my hand in a stop sign and Lila stops.

I infuse my fear into the edge of my dagger, take a deep breath and run towards the grotesque-looking zombies.

Cut!

Cut!

...

I move nimbly among the zombies, while keeping an eye on the notifications.

[You have killed a human of rank F: +0.2]

[You have killed an F-ranked human: +0.23]

[You have killed a human of rank F: +0.21]

[You have killed a human of rank F: +0.2]

[You have killed a human of rank F: +0.22]

...

As heads roll, not a single zombie with a core appears. But suddenly, I see a swift hand approaching and I instinctively recoil.

A zombie with empty eye sockets, skinny and long, whose arms are so long that its hands reach almost to the ground, its body has an exposed skeleton, but in other areas its skin does not appear to be rotten.

"An evolved zombie. A monster the zombie screams loudly and the other three remaining around it run in an uncoordinated manner towards me.

I back up without taking my eyes off the evolved zombie, dodge the other three and jump.

Cut!

The zombie backs up in time to avoid the edge of my dagger. I jump to dodge the other three zombies.

-Do you want help? -Lila asks.

-No, it's not necessary. -I answer, as the enemy is not strong, only slightly faster than me.

I attack again, and the evolved zombie retreats.

I take advantage of the moment when the evolved zombie retreats, and jump towards the three zombies.

[You killed a human of rank F: +0.22]

[You have killed a human of rank F: +0.21]

[You have killed a human of rank F: +0.2]

The moment I decapitated the last of the three zombies I lean down to dodge one of the zombie's hands and jump using the fear in my own body to increase my strength.

I approach the evolved zombie and with my knife I cut off its head, a grayish liquid with a strong chemical smell emerges, I back up while blocking the blow that the decapitated zombie threw at me with one of its hands.

I feel my right hand shaking. Even though I block the blow with the dagger, my hand suffers from the tension of the blow.

I grab the dagger with my left hand, I use fear again in my senses and body, I slowly adapt to the fear quality and the hunter profession.

I run towards the evolved zombie, I lean as I approach and dodge one of the zombie's fast hands, then with a thrust I pierce the heart and core of the evolved zombie.

[You killed a 2 skull monster: +0.56]

[You have obtained: basic skill (fast arms)].

"What kind of skill is that. My arms won't become long like that zombie's right?", I ask in my mind to the system.

[Don't worry host]

[The skill adapts to the user's body]
