We were sitting together on the couch for about half an hour, watching a movie. My head rested against his shoulder, and his arm was wrapped around me.
My fingers tangled with his. It had been so long since we sat like this, since we were not fighting.
I do not know. There was a sense of comfort in his arms. We put on the movie because there were many things we could not speak about at that moment.
"Wow, that's a good morning," Zoe remarked as she came out, letting out a little laugh.
Then my children appeared behind her. They were sleepy, rubbing their eyes.
"Mommy, daddy," they murmured.
I do not know why. It was as if they understood there had been trouble between us.
The moment they saw us sitting together, they looked at each other, then jumped happily and rushed toward us.
Amy jumped into her father's lap, while Colin crawled toward me. We pulled away from each other to focus on them.
