Davina's POV
"You know," Will began, pausing to scan each of us with pure disdain, "I thought about how to handle all this."
His stare locked onto Chase. "First, you went after my son," he stated flatly, pointing directly at him. "And I let it pass."
I watched Chase recoil, but he remained silent. He appeared diminished, shattered. Even now, he couldn't stand up for himself. None of us could.
"Now, my second son?" Will shifted his attention to me, his look cutting through me like blades. "You think I'd sit back and allow that to happen?"
My heart pounded so violently in my ears, I could barely hear my own breathing. My arms tightened around my waist as if that could hold me together.
My mother clutched me on one side, my sisters on the other. All of us were weeping. Trembling.
"I don't understand why you bastards keep going after my family," Will went on. "But it stops today."
A soft, choked whimper escaped from Calista, but none of us dared utter a word.
