Irvin's POV
I settled back in my chair, phone pressed to my ear.
"I'd really love for you to come, Mr. Todd. It would mean the world to my sister," Nick's voice carried that familiar persuasive tone.
I rolled my eyes, though a smirk threatened to break through. "Nick, quit trying to play matchmaker with your sister," I said, spinning slowly in my chair.
Nick's loud, carefree laugh echoed through the phone—the same laugh I'd heard countless times over the years. "Had to give it a shot."
I made a noncommittal sound, not wanting to dive into that topic. My free hand massaged my temple as my attention drifted to the contracts stacked on my desk, the never-ending mountain of duties that came with running NEXUS.
"I'll double-check for that error and resend the contract," Nick said, switching back to business mode.
"Sounds good," I replied curtly.
We exchanged quick goodbyes, and I ended the call.
I placed the phone on my desk with a quiet thud, leaning back again.
