Chapter 7 - A Deal

Damien sat done across Juno at the table. He crossed his arms over his chest.

"In all seriousness, I'd like to strike a deal."

Juno raised an eyebrow.

"What kind of deal?"

He speaks in a slow, deliberate tone.

"You don't rat me out to the police, and I help you from the shadows… and be your boyfriend" he added the last part quickly.

"Say what now?"

"You know… I can help from the shadows. Making packed lunches, doing the dishes, cleaning the house…" he listed the various tasks.

She shook her head.

"No, no, what did you say before about being my boyfriend? You're serious?"

He nods.

"Absolutely. One hundred percent serious."

She thinks for a minute. Blushing slightly. Not that she would mind them dating for real. It's just that she's a hero and he's a villian… she then realized something and looked back up to meet his eyes.

"Okay, wait! What would you get out of this?! So far it's only beneficial to me."

He smirks

"Oh, but I do get something out of it."

"Then what would that be?"

"I get to openly love you~" he says in a sing song voice.

She blinks.

"THAT'S IT?!"

He looks offended.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'that's it'?!? THAT'S A LOT!!"

He sighs, running a hand through his hair. He explains it to her.

"Look, if we date, then we could have so much more! Like sharing a house, and splitting chores I know you hate! And you won't have to be aloneall the time!"

That last statement hit her in the gut. She was always alone. It was a given. She didn't think he would say it to her face though. Still, it didn't seem like a complete bad thing if she wasn't alone all the time… It actually sounded kinda nice.

She was quiet for a moment. Then spoke in a softer voice. Hesitant and unsure.

"You promise?…"

He blinks. Surprised by the shift. He then smiled warmly and placed his hand on top of hers on the table.

"I promise. I won't leave you alone ever again. Not unless you want me to leave."

She small smile formed on her lips. Slight, but real.

He reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. He spoke up again.

"I love you, Juno. I hope you know that."

She rolls her eyes, that small smile still present.

"Is that your way of trying to get me to agree to the offer?"

"Is it working?" He asks playfully.

She shrugs, as if pretending to consider it.

"Yeah well, your presentation needs work."

He gasped. Offended.

"My presentation?! My presentation is always flawless!" He said with a hand over his heart.

She chuckled lightly. He then smiled in turn.

"At least your villian self has good presentation."

He clicked his tongue.

"I guess that's a start… So. What do ya say? Do we have a deal?" He says stretching his hand out.

She shakes his hand.

"It's a deal."
