Chapter 153 - University Choices

Close, but not too bad.

Peter quickly settled on a target.

Columbia University.

Located in Manhattan, New York City, Columbia, formerly known as King's College, was similar to MIT, belonging to the category of "world-class private research universities."

The school offered majors in social sciences, biology, information technology, and also boasted world-class law and journalism schools.

Although its ranking wasn't as high as MIT's, as the saying goes, "specialize in one field," in certain areas, it was actually superior.

And these "certain areas" included the "biology" that Peter currently needed as well.

In fact, it was also the school Betty wanted to attend after graduating from high school.

She had mentioned this to him before, because the Pulitzer Prize awarded by Columbia's School of Journalism was the highest honor in the American journalism world.

For Betty, who dreamed of becoming a journalist, the award was obviously a dream come true.

Of course, for Peter, its significance in the field of biology was clearly the most important aspect.

This would not only allow him to better research and develop his spider abilities, but also to create better Nanoweave materials. It would also equip him with the knowledge to study and guard against the Second-Generation Venom Symbiote.

That's right, Peter wasn't taking the Second-Generation Venom Symbiote lightly.

Even though it currently seemed harmless and was completely under his control, what if it still had some sort of effect on him?

In this world, Peter didn't know any big shots in biology.

Tony Stark didn't do much research in this area.

Therefore, he would have to do it himself.

Since he couldn't find a trustworthy expert in biology, it made perfect sense for him to become that "expert" himself, right?

As for other majors... as long as he learned fast enough, after getting a degree here, he could always get a few more elsewhere!

He wondered if Tony Stark knew anyone at Columbia University. It wasn't exactly the admissions season right now.

Peter stroked his chin, pondering: He'd heard that some schools had special admissions. If he produced some achievements, would he be able to get in that way?

It was truly "the hardest part is the beginning"!

Over the next few days, Peter returned to his original lifestyle.

Oh, wait, it was actually even busier.

The next day, Peter told Tony Stark about his idea.

Although Stark was a little displeased that he hadn't chosen his alma mater as his first choice, he reluctantly agreed with Peter's idea after hearing his explanation.

Then, he told Peter to figure out how to handle his high school graduation, saying that if he could solve it, there wouldn't be any problems with Columbia University either.

Peter immediately understood that Tony Stark was testing him again.

But this didn't faze him.

Thanks to Stark Industries' previous investment in and recognition of "Peter Parker," Peter was somewhat of a well-known figure at Midtown High School.

After Peter communicated his wishes to his guidance counselor, Mr. Harrington, he received a reply within a few days.

Although there was some reluctance, Principal Morita of Midtown High School was also happy to see a genius emerge from his school.

This was also a great help for the school's publicity.

And with positive publicity, the school could get more investment, better students, and so on.

It was worth noting that when Peter was called to Principal Morita's office, he saw a familiar face in a photo on the desk.

It was the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, whom he had fought before.

Peter subtly inquired and learned that Principal Morita's grandfather was Jim Morita, who had been a member of the Howling Commandos and had fought alongside Bucky during World War II.

After a conversation with Principal Morita, Peter received his assurance: as long as Peter could indeed earn the necessary 24 credits, he would handle everything as quickly as possible without any delays.

His only request was that if Peter graduated early, he would need to give a graduation speech in front of the entire school.

Peter felt embarrassed by this and flatly refused.

So, after some back and forth, the condition was changed to: if Peter graduated early, he would need to be interviewed by the school's television station.

And the interviewer would be Betty.

This wasn't difficult for Peter at all.

Interacting with his girlfriend as an interviewer and interviewee was, he had to admit, a little exciting.

Ahem!

After that, Peter began his busy quest for course credits.

First came English, then algebra, geometry, precalculus, followed by biology, chemistry, physics, and then world history, economics, physical education, art, and other required courses.

For electives, he chose Chinese and Italian, as well as creative writing, earth science, environmental science, and so on.

Even with Principal Morita's help, arranging all the relevant assessments as quickly as possible, it still took Peter nearly two months to finally earn all the credits.

To get his credits and graduate, Peter rarely went into the lab during those two months, and even his friendly neighborhood Spider-Man activities were only done every now and then.

He figured it was a way to relax while studying.

This sort of pastime was like how ordinary people played games when they got tired of studying, a good way to relax and enter a peaceful state.

He rarely even went to the lab, and he had even less time to go to the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Peter figured Strange probably thought he'd given up on learning magic entirely, which was why he wasn't going anymore.

But what Strange didn't know was that he, Peter Parker, could now actively use the Astral Projection spell!

In his own world, the time he could stay out each time was much longer than in other parallel universes, about half an hour before reaching the limit and damaging his consciousness.

And in those thirty minutes, he could act freely.

Peter finally truly felt the fun of this state.

In his "astral" form, he could pass through walls at will, float in the air, a feeling of absolute freedom.

Too bad he still couldn't cast spells while in his astral form.

He planned to find Strange when he had the time to see if he could learn a thing or two.

As for the combat style of entering the astral state and letting his Spider-Sense control his body, Peter hadn't figured it out yet – partly because he hadn't had the time to really think about it.

But he wasn't in a rush.

Because during this time, in addition to studying and earning credits, he had been diligently feeding his Second-Generation Venom Suit.

Thanks to his efforts, the Second-Generation Venom Suit was "growing strong"!
