Ficool

Chapter 17 - #17Chapter 17 Ao Xue

Early the next morning, Ye Hao woke up early and entered his space to tidy it up. The space was now thriving.

After several days of irrigation, the fish pond was filled with spring water. The fish, shrimp, and crabs inside were large and plump, and their numbers had exploded. Ye Hao planned to control the number of fish, shrimp, and crabs in the future, otherwise, this not-so-large fish pond would be overflowing in a few days.

The grains and vegetables in the planting area were also ripe. Ye Hao planned to sell more things at the Pigeon Market these days, taking advantage of still being in the capital to convert more into cash and buy necessary items to put into his space, as many things would be unavailable once he went to the countryside.

Upon arriving at the Pigeon Market, after selling his goods, he found someone selling tickets and exchanged them for a bicycle ticket. Ye Hao planned to buy a bicycle for convenience in the future.

The ticket and the bicycle together cost Ye Hao over two hundred yuan. It hurt a bit, but it was worth it.

With a bicycle today, changing locations was much faster. Ye Hao earned 300 yuan in one morning, so the cost of the bicycle was already earned back, which made him feel great.

In the afternoon, Ye Hao returned to the valley from yesterday. He hadn't gone very deep yesterday because it was too late. Today, he planned to go further in to see if he could find any more fruit trees he wanted.

Outside, the sun was blazing, but upon entering the valley, there was a chill. The entire valley was covered by trees, and walking through it, he could only see a few scattered specks of light filtering through the gaps in the leaves onto the ground.

A timid person would probably be scared stiff here.

A rustling sound came from the bushes next to Ye Hao. Ye Hao immediately turned his head, staring intently at the rustling bushes.

He saw two small yellow creatures dart out from the bushes, moving nimbly. Ye Hao looked closely and realized they were two weasels. "Damn, running into two weasels in such a gloomy place, this is changing the genre!" Fortunately, the two weasels were just passing by. The next moment, they Drill into another bush.

Next, Ye Hao became even more cautious, keeping his eyes and ears open. Who knew what was in this dense forest? It was only the 1960s, and he heard that around the capital, besides tigers, there were still jackals, wolves, and leopards. Ye Hao believed he could take on any one of them individually, but if a pack came, he could only hide in his space.

Ye Hao continued deeper into the valley, encountering several rabbits and pheasants along the way. He unhesitatingly collected them into his space to expand his animal population. During this time, a few small squirrels curiously watched Ye Hao. He had initially wanted to catch a few for his space, but then thought better of it, as they weren't very useful to keep. In the end, he only collected one small squirrel into his space, intending to take it back for Sun Chaoyue as a playmate.

He had been in the mountains for two hours and still hadn't seen a single fruit tree. Ye Hao was about to give up, thinking he would find a fruit orchard around the capital another day and break off a few branches. He believed that with the magic of his space and the spring water, they would surely survive.

Howl~~

Just then, a wolf howl came from the dense forest ahead.

Ye Hao, relying on his space, was not worried about his safety, so he walked in the direction of the wolf howl.

After walking through a dense forest, there was an open area ahead. It looked like the ground was stony, so this area had only grass and no trees.

On the flat ground, he saw six wolves chasing a group of deer-like animals; Ye Hao wasn't sure what specific animals they were. As Ye Hao watched, the wolf pack worked together to take down two of the deer. The other deer had already run out of sight.

The wolf pack did not continue to chase the distant deer. He saw a wolf, larger than the others, eat first, while the other wolves guarded nearby. This must be the legendary alpha wolf.

After the alpha wolf had eaten its fill, the other wolves dragged the remaining food towards the other side of the valley. Out of curiosity, Ye Hao cautiously followed the wolf pack forward.

Perhaps because the wolf pack had already caught prey, or perhaps they hadn't noticed Ye Hao, Ye Hao continued to follow the pack for over ten minutes until they reached a hollow in the mountains. As soon as the pack returned, two female wolves emerged with seven or eight wolf pups to greet the returning pack.

After the wolf pack put down the prey, the wolves began to share the food. After the adult wolves finished eating, it was the turn of the pups, but because there were only two deer, there wasn't much food left for them.

He saw eight wolf pups eagerly pounce on the food, vying for it. Ye Hao then noticed that besides these eight pups, there was an even smaller one, a pure white wolf, somewhat resembling a Samoyed puppy from later generations. This small wolf tried to eat but was ostracized by its siblings and couldn't get any food, only whimpering.

By the time the pups finished, there was nothing left on the ground. The white pup hadn't eaten anything and could only lick the blood on the ground.

After eating their fill, the wolf pack entered the hollow, leaving the small wolf outside to lick the remaining food scraps on its own.

Looking at this small wolf, Ye Hao thought of his previous self, who had starved to death, and then of the feeling of near-starvation when he had just been reborn. Ye Hao felt a pang of pity and stepped forward, using his consciousness to bring the small wolf into his space.

After collecting the small wolf, Ye Hao turned and ran, not stopping until he reached the dense forest he had come from. Seeing that no wolf pack was chasing him, Ye Hao flashed into his space. Once inside, he found the small wolf howling in the open area. Ye Hao was afraid that animals would ruin the crops, so he had already designated areas to prevent animals from running wild. As for newly collected animals, they were kept in the reserved central warehouse area and were not allowed to roam freely.

Ye Hao appeared before the small wolf, startling it. The wolf then showed a fierce expression, baring its two small milk teeth, which looked fierce but in Ye Hao's eyes were utterly adorable. Ye Hao went to the spring, filled a bowl with spring water, and offered it to the small wolf. The small wolf watched Ye Hao warily, but it couldn't resist the alluring scent of the spring water and lowered its head to drink.

Watching the small wolf drink the water, its wary expression turned into one of fawning affection. Ye Hao was quite pleased. "I didn't save you for nothing, little guy; you're not an ungrateful wretch."

Ye Hao then grabbed a chicken and placed it in front of the small wolf. The small wolf unhesitatingly bit the chicken's neck, seemingly desperate with hunger, and vigorously tore at the meat. Seeing the small wolf eat so happily, Ye Hao felt relieved.

"This must be an albino wolf. It's probably ostracized by the pack because it looks different from the others. From now on, follow me, and I'll make sure you eat well and live comfortably. What should I name you?"

"You're so white, I'll call you Aoxue. I hope you'll be fearless and unyielding when facing cruel persecution or setbacks."

Aoxue seemed to understand Ye Hao's words, letting out a "Howl~" towards the sky. "It seems you really like your new name! All right, Aoxue, you stay here for now, I'll come see you later." With that, he exited the space.

Ye Hao came outside, looked around, found nothing unusual, and walked back.
