Chapter 30 - SEVERANCE [2]

The man took a few steps forward, boots sinking in the crimson soaked mud with soft wet squelches as he walked further.

The horde was surging closer with every breath. An ocean of endless pitch black creatures with deformed shapes was all I could see as the purple and violet shade illuminated the red field.

Their pressure felt heavier and heavier.

And then.

IT HIT

The pressure crawled in my brain and body, and I realised the true horror of what was actually happening to me.

My skull felt as if it was being cracked open.

A low hum filled my eardrums first.

Clutching my ear with my remaining hand, I saw a figure of a winged creature with eyes all over it's body, it shifted.

Then it stared at me, all its red eyes were now watching me as it tilted its body entirely.

The Abysswalker stared from the distance.

My knees buckled.

Then the world exploded in my eyes.

Hot liquid splattered from my eyes.

Blood

Thick, red and warm.

My body wouldn't move, I stood frozen in the place as that suffocating pressure made it difficult to even gasp for air.

My thoughts shook from the inside.

But the pain didn't stop at all.....it just increased.

I clutched my head and writhed on the red slush. A sound barely escaped from my mouth before it felt even more painfull, as I tried to swallow my own blood but the broken vocal cords didn't allow me to and the thick red liquid came splashing down from my nose and mouth.

I couldn't breathe.

Every breath was putting a strain ony body.

Every heartbeat felt like collapsing in few beats.

And the man?

He just kept walking.

He stopped only when the nearest Abysswalkers were close enough that I felt their footsteps vibrating through the ground.

He raised the katana.

One hand, in an drawing motion .

A calm whisper left his lips which echoed in my ears.

"RENDER"

I didn't see the slash.

No one could. Not even those grade one's and two's.

It wasn't light.

It wasn't motion.

It was an absence.

A tear that slid through reality so fast that the world lagged behind it just to stabilize from the aftershocks.

Then.

SHRRRRAAAAAAAAAA—!!!!

Zzzzzzzzzzz—!!!!!

Everything dulled for a moment.

Abysswalkers...thousands, ripped cleanly in half just after he had whispered.

Perfect cuts.

Like their bodies offered no resistance against the invisible attack.

Colossal ones toppled, and dropped their sliced parts on the ground crushing each other. Their guts spilling out like black, steaming ropes.

Winged horrors in the sky split open mid-flight as they fell on the ground like mosquitoes in two sliced parts.

And for a moment, it felt like the entire dimension cracked apart.

A thin fissure opened where the strike landed and the colours erased themselves, only pitch black darkness remained where the strike had ended.

The man turned towards my side while the broken wings and limbs fell down from the air.

He exhaled softly. "Sorry..."

Before I could process what he was trying to speak after it.

I screamed.

Not from fear.

Not from the sight.

From the pain again.

Jagged and corrosive pain.

My mind twisted like something inside me was being scraped out with needles.

My vision flickered.

static, darkness, light, static...

And amidst a blue screen shimmered.

[ INITIALIZING LAST SEQUENCE ]

And everything went white.
