Raviel barely held on his consciousness as he was crouched on the ground. He felt the world tilting whenever he did even some minimum movement.
Every time his eyes felt blurry. A sharp stinging pain would force him up to open his eyes.
Watching the filth near his body,
He coughed, hard. Vomiting out, the remaining part of poison,
A mix of blood and thick liquid splattered on the floor. He spat again till the taste faded.
"Ugh—–" he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, staring at the trembling corpse before him. His breath grew ragged.
"....Screw you, SUCKER!" he muttered hoarsely, raising his hand which was twitching. "That's for nearly drilling me to death".
He flipped the thing off,
A weak, bloody middle finger up in the air
Then his mind questioned himself,
"How the hell did MINDLOCK trigger ? Heck....I don't even know skills could work here".
He looked at his hands. Blood only blood was visible but no hint of any lingering trace of mana, which was a crucial part in activating any skill as mentioned in the novel then.....How?.
The thought made his chest tighten.
If skills could work here.....then maybe he wasn't safe from his own abilities as he thought. "First my own mysterious skill teleports me to this place and then MindLock. Hell I don't even know what will happen now".
He crouched again, wincing in pain as he clutched his arms where the tail had struck the hardest. His arm was shaking while his shadow leaned over the corpse that looked like it was making some sort of 'pleading ' noises.
"Not dead yet.....huh?" Raviel whispered faintly as he watched its body falling in uneven pace. "Let's fix that buddy".
He grabbed the creature's tail. The tail felt cold, rubbery with potruding overgrown vertebrae that spiked in the air.
Then,
Without any delay, using the sharper end part of it's tail, he pushed it straight into its throat, as that was the only part which was not covered by the scales.
The sound was wet and little scary.
It convulsed once and then.....limp.
Raviel exhaled slowly, "Another achievement unlocked.....haaaa!!"
His body shuddered aa he heard those dying shrieks, but leaning closely he found something shining on the creature's chest.
Two numbers, that looked heat pressed on its chest.
His mind connected the dots, "fuck.... how many more creatures to hunt?".
As he realised the door needed a four numbered password and two number were now present. 2 and 6.
"....lets go die again, Raviel" clutching his chest he moved out of the room.
*******
"Fuckin' hell nothing here...also"
Raviel cursed seeing all the remaining four rooms. They had nothing inside them not even some useless stuff. The rooms looked like they were used for one-night stands with faint lavender smell oozing out of them.
"Useless" he muttered, aa he kicked the wooden chair. "Freakin' useless".
He looked up at the ceiling, jaw tight.
"If you are watching, you sick bastard" he muttered glaring upwards. "You could atleast drop a clue"
As soon as he came out of the last door.
There at the end of the corridor, the elevator blinked.
He approached it carefully, with the knife which was on the verge of breaking in his hands, he made his way towards the elevator.
He froze when he went inside it.
The paintings was slightly tilted now....he frowned and pulled it off the wall.
There, etched faintly into the metal plate behind it, were two more numbers. 4 and 8.
Fresh and inscribed with precision.
His stomach tightened.
Then he exhaled sharply through his teeth.
"Yeah, great, just.....perfect."
He kicked the side of the elevator in frustration. "Four numbers at a time, and no clue about the sequence. How the hell am I supposed to guess it?"
The elevator blinked faintly in response, the lights blinking like they were mocking him.
Raviel paced around the corridor like a hamster in a wheel, as he muttered under his breath. "Think, damn it, THINK!".
The numbers plastered in his mind, repeating over and over like an echo he couldn't shut off. He stopped mid-step, turned and looked at the hallway again.
Each door had three digits carved into the metal plate on the door. Most were corroded beyond reading, but a few still gleamed faintly under the fluorescent light with their last digit shining faintly. He squinted his eyeballs as he stepped closer.
".....Two," he whispered,
The next one down the hall.
"Four"
Then another.
"Eight"
And further along. At the left most end of the corridor.
"Six"
He spun around, eyes widening from his discovery, and lifted both hands up in the air.
" I Love you, gods....!" he shouted, voice echoing through the corridor. "Didn't think you'd finally stop screwing with me!".
He sprinted back towards the metallic wall and tapped the password on the keypad, one by one 2 4 8 6.
The keypad glowed red.
Raviel froze.
For a heartbeat, nothing moved.
[ BEEP...BEEP...BEEP ]
The sound of the locking system processing filled in Raviel's ears.
Then.
The sound of something being opened came from the sleek mettalic door.
Click~
The door which seemed seek was now visible from the slight gap and Raviel was surprised by how thick this 'thing' was.
Grinding his teeth, Raviel pushed the thick block of metal.
And.
Seeing the the scene before him, he muttered helplessly.
"FUCK YOU....GOD'S "
