Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Sun and Moon: The Transfer of Polar Opposites

"Alright class, today we have two new transfer students" *The teacher spoke*

"Please come to the front"

Raito entered the classroom, he wore a friendly expression on his face as he introduced himself* "Hey everyone, I'm Raito Hikari. Nice to meet y'all"

Tsukki entered behind Raito as he stared blankly. The two were complete opposites. Raito was a cheerful ball of energy while Tsukki gave stoic and dark vibes.

Mao looked up curiously from his desk as he looked at the transfer students. He noted their different energies. Raito was the opposite of Tsukki. He was bright and cheerful with a friendly aura around him, while Tsukki was dark and stoic. He seemed reserved.

Classmates chattered around the classroom as the teacher continued.

"Please introduce yourself, the next student."

Tsukki nodded and stepped up in front of the class.

"I'm Tsukki Kuroi, nice to meet you all."

He spoke in a monotone voice, his expression remained stoic.

Mmm.

Mao quietly hummed, leaning back in his seat with a small smirk. "Well well... Sun and moon, huh? Cute."

He folded his arms, eyes flicking between Raito's bright grin and Tsukki's unblinking stare. "So? You two gonna dazzle us with a performance or just stand there like a concept photo?"

A few classmates giggled. Raito laughed easily, unfazed.

"Maybe later~" he winked. "But only if you promise to clap!"

Tsukki sighed—barely audible—like he already knew Raito would steal the spotlight.

Mao chuckled at Raito's playful challenge, watching as the teacher gestured for them to find their seats.

"Looks like the show's over," he joked, grinning at Raito. "For now."

Raito and Tsukki found their desks, settling in. The class gradually returned to its usual hum of chatter as the teacher resumed the lesson. Raito leaned over occasionally to whisper something to Tsukki, who merely shrugged or rolled his eyes.

At lunchtime

Mao and the Trickstar unit members sat at their usual table in the lunchroom, chatting and eating. Mao's gaze continually flicked towards the entrance, unconsciously searching for any glimpse of Raito and Tsukki.

He tried to focus on the conversation, laughing and nodding in the right places. But his thoughts kept wandering to the two transfer students.

"Mao, you alright?" Hokuto asked, poking him gently. "You seem distracted."

Mao snapped out of his thoughts. "Huh? Yeah, I'm fine." He forced a grin. "Just...wondering if those new transfer students have found a table yet."

Hokuto shared a glance with Subaru, knowing exactly who Mao was referring to.

"Relax, they're probably just settling in," he laughed. "You act like you wanna see them that badly."

"I don't *want* to see them that badly..." Mao retorted, defensively crossing his arms. "Just curious, that's all."

Subaru couldn't help grinning, exchanging another knowing look with Hokuto. "Suuure you are," he teased.

Makoto, sensing the teasing mood, interjected with a chuckle.

"Alright, guys, leave him be." He nudged Mao with a friendly smirk. "Maybe he just wants to make sure they're getting along okay."

Subaru chuckled, raising a teasing eyebrow. "Yeah, like a little mom checking in on the newbies."

Mao's face flushed slightly, feeling outnumbered by his playful friends.

"Oh, shut it you guys," he scoffed, but there was no heat behind his words. "You make it sound like I'm worried about them or something."

Hokuto chuckled, enjoying teasing Mao. "And if you are worried, what's wrong with that?"

Ritsu strolled over to the table, a sly smirk on his face as he caught the end of their conversation. "Oh? Talking about the new students, hm?"

Subaru perked up at his comment. "You saw them?"

Ritsu nodded, sliding into an empty seat. "Mmhmm. Saw them heading towards the rooftop just now."

Mao's attention piqued at Ritsu's words. "The rooftop? They're going up there?"

Hokuto leaned forward, interested. "Alone?"

Ritsu shrugged nonchalantly. "Seemed that way. Maybe they just wanted some privacy."

Makoto seemed thoughtful. "Or they wanted somewhere quiet to chat."

Subaru, always eager for some excitement, agreed enthusiastically with a wide grin. "Let's go up top and check it out! See what they're up to!"

The others shared glances, contemplating the idea. Mao's curiosity flared at the prospect, but he tried to play it cool.

He shrugged nonchalantly. "I mean, yeah, what's the harm? Might as well satisfy our curiosity."

"Alright, then it's settled," Subaru declared, already standing up. "Let's go."

The rest of the Trickstar unit and Ritsu nodded in agreement, pushing themselves back from the table. Ritsu simply smirked, knowing they had fallen right into the trap of curiosity.

The group, including Mao, made their way towards the entrance to the school rooftop.

The Trickstar unit approached the rooftop door, opening it slightly to peek inside. Sure enough, there were Raito and Tsukki, sitting on the rooftop with a simple bento meal spread in front of them.

They were engaged in quiet conversation, occasionally laughing at something the other said. It was a surprisingly domestic scene.

Subaru and Hokuto couldn't help grinning at each other. "Look at that, they're bonding over lunch."

"How adorable," Hokuto teased.

Ritsu chuckled quietly at the sight, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Well, look at that. The 'Sun and Moon' duo having a little picnic."

Subaru nudged Ritsu with amusement. "They look quite comfortable together."

Mao leaned closer, unable to deny his interest in the odd pair. "Wonder what they're talking about..."

Raito sighed, closing his bento box. "You know we could've just eaten in the cafeteria like everyone else."

Tsukki didn't even glance up, calmly chewing before replying. "And you know I don't do crowds." His voice was low, even—no frustration, just fact.

A beat of silence passed.

Then Raito smiled softly. "Yeah... but you came up here with me at least."

Tsukki paused—almost imperceptibly—before giving the tiniest nod.

"...Always."

*Back by the door,*

Mao blinked. Something about that exchange hit warmer than he expected.

"Man..." Subaru whispered behind him, grinning like he'd seen something special.

Ritsu smirked wider and backed away first.

"Let's go," he murmured. "They're not alone... they've got each other."

"You guys should work on your spying skills... If you don't want to get caught "

Tsukki said calmly while eating bento

The Trickstar unit collectively froze and Ritsu, their eyes widening simultaneously.

"He... knew we were there..." Hokuto murmured, impressed.

Ritsu snickered. "Smart guy."

Mao just gaped, completely caught off guard. "How the hell...?"

"Well, crap," Subaru muttered, grinning sheepishly. "Busted."

Raito burst into laughter, enjoying seeing the Trickstar unit caught red-handed.

"You guys really thought you were being sneaky, huh?" he chuckles.

Mao, still bewildered, couldn't help but admire Tsukki's sharp instincts.

"Dude's like a hawk or something. He spotted us the second we opened the door..."

Raito glanced at Tsukki, noting his total nonchalance. It was typical of his friend, not letting distractions get to him when he focused on something.

Back with the Trickstar unit...

The four boys chuckled awkwardly, somewhat embarrassed by their failed covert expedition.

"Well, there goes our 'ninja stealth'," Mao joked.

"Yeah, we need to work on that..." Subaru added, scratching his head.

Ritsu, who had his back leaned against the wall, chuckled at their foiled plot. "Well, that's what we get for assuming no one notices us."

Mao sighed, slightly disappointed in himself. "I thought we were being discreet. Seems we have a way to go..."

Hokuto, more focused on their new observations, interjected. "Still... did you notice how casually they spoke? They seemed really comfortable around each other."

Raito glanced back at the door, smiling warmly. "Oh? You guys heard that?"

He turned to Tsukki for a brief second before continuing. "Yeah, we've been friends since we were kids. Even when things got tough... we always had each other."

Tsukki didn't look up from his bento, but for just a moment—fleeting and quiet—his grip on his chopsticks softened. A tiny crack in the moon's cold surface.

Raito laughed lightly again. "He doesn't say much, but he's always been there."

Mao blinked at the rooftop scene, something about it feeling less like an idol duo introduction... and more like watching a story already years in the making.

"...Huh," Subaru murmured. "They're not just 'Polar Opposites.' They balance each other."

Raito nodded, smiling fondly. "Yeah, our moms were close, so they thought it would be fun if we played together. Turns out they were right."

Ritsu, intrigued, spoke up. "Bet you two have plenty of memories together then."

Raito's smile widened. "Oh, loads. From tag to hide-and-seek to stargazing on my rooftop..." his gaze shifted subtly to Tsukki, a memory shared.

Then Ritsu, noticing Raito's gaze, raised an eyebrow quizzically. "Something on your mind?"

Raito's expression shifted slightly in realization, recognizing Ritsu as Rei's younger brother.

"Ah, wait a minute.." He tilted his head. "You're Rei Sakuma's little bro, right?"

Ritsu, slightly surprised Raito figured him out, nodded. "That's right. I'm his younger brother."

The rest of the Trickstar boys looked at Ritsu with new eyes.

Tsukki raised an eyebrow. "Sakuma's brother, huh? That explains..."

Subaru grinned, teasing. "The serious attitude, maybe?"

Ritsu scoffed dramatically in reply, but it sounded more amused than annoyed.

Raito chuckled, joining in the banter. "Or maybe it's just a family trait to have that deadpan expression."

Ritsu smirked slightly. "Could be. Though I like to think I'm more charming than my brother at least."

Mao rolled his eyes, but there was no unkindness to it. "Modest, aren't you?"

"What are you going to do? Are you seriously going to make Rei Sakuma's little brother, give you his brother's autograph?"

Raito chuckled at Tsukki's comment, amused by his deadpan delivery.

"What, you don't think I could get an autograph?" he jokingly replied, grinning.

The others chimed in, teasing in their own way.

Hokuto smirked slightly. "Yeah, you don't exactly scream 'celebrity charisma'."

Subaru added cheekily, "More like 'adorable nuisance'."

"Your his fan... And you even had a lot of fan merches from UNDEAD of Rei Sakuma in your room"

Raito's ears heated a little at the mention of his collection when Tsukki spoke up, but he tried to laugh it off.

"Hey, whoa, whoa. I'm not obsessed or anything." He waved a hand defensively. "I just... happen to appreciate good music. That's all."

The others chuckled, seeing straight through his half-hearted denial.

Hokuto smirked. "Right, and you keep his merch around just for decoration."

Hokuto, Subaru, and the others snickered at Raito's failed pretense.

"Dude, you're so obvious." Subaru laughed.

Hokuto smirked. "I mean, who has their idols' merchandise all over the place if not a hardcore fan?"

Ritsu, meanwhile, shivered involuntarily. "I swear I just got a chill down my spine."

Mao chuckled, joining in. "Oh come on, Raito. Just admit your obsession. We all just found out now about your collection anyway."

"N-Not obsessed!" Raito insisted, face now fully red. "It's called *appreciation*! There's a difference!"

Tsukki gave him a flat look. "You have his photo framed... under your pillow."

Silence.

Then—**exploding laughter** from the Trickstar boys.

Ritsu groaned, rubbing his temples like he could feel the embarrassment radiating off his brother's name.

"Please stop," he deadpanned, half-laughing despite himself. "For my mental health."

"C'mon, Raito," Tsukki said flatly, standing up and grabbing Raito's wrist. "We're done here. No more fan-girling on school grounds."

Raito flailed slightly as he was pulled toward the rooftop door. "W-Wait! I'm not fan-girling! And we were just—hey!"

The Trickster boys burst into renewed laughter at the sight.

Subaru wiped a tear from his eye. "That was beautiful."

Hokuto grinned. "They're definitely keeping each other in check."

And just like that, the Sun was dragged away by the Moon—leaving behind only laughter... and legendary levels of secondhand embarrassment.

Ritsu shuddered again, shaking his head like he was trying to rub off a bad mental image.

"My brother... has *fans* like *him*? This is deeply unsettling."

Mao smirked, nudging him. "What? Can't handle the truth? Your cool, mysterious big bro's got fangirls—heck, even fanguys—with full merch collections!"

Ritsu groaned, covering his face with one hand. "I'm going to have nightmares about that shrine under the pillow..."

Subaru clapped him on the shoulder with mock sympathy. "Welcome to the world of fandom, kid."

Back in the music club room, Rei was in the middle of arranging sheet music when he suddenly sneezed. He paused, blinking in surprise.

"Oh my..." he murmured, setting down his pen. "I hope that wasn't some sort of omen."

He shrugged the thought away and picked up his pen again, returning to his work. "Must be the dust."

The Aoi twins, Hinata and Yuta, slid open the music room door with their usual dramatic flair.

"Did you hear?" Yuta chirped immediately, eyes sparkling. "There are *new transfer students*!"

Kaoru strolls his phone . "And not just any transfers—apparently they're already causing a stir up on the rooftop."

Rei glanced up from his sheet music, one elegant eyebrow arched. "...A stir? What kind of *stir*?"

Hinata grinned wide. "Oh~ you know... being all mysterious and cute together! Like twin stars—one bright and bubbly, the other dark and silent!" He clasped his hands together dramatically. "They've even formed an idol unit called *Polar Opposites*!"

Kaoru smirked slightly at Rei's now noticeably stiff posture.

"...Interesting," Rei mused aloud—but there was something suspiciously wary in his tone.

"Especially," Kaoru added with a teasing glance at Rei, "since one of them is apparently your biggest fan."

Rei's eyes widened a fraction at the last bit of information—just enough for the twins to catch.

He cleared his throat hastily, resuming his nonchalant demeanor.

"A... fan, you say?"

Hinata's grin grew wider. He could see right through Rei's attempt to remain aloof.

"Oh, a *massive* fan," Hinata added, enjoying every second of teasing his sempai. "Apparently he's got your autograph framed under his pillow, and a whole collection of merch at home."

The music room door suddenly burst open—**not by hand, but by a full-on dramatic dog-powered slide.**

Koga skidded in first on all fours, tail wagging like a turbocharged metronome. Right behind him, sauntering with effortless coolness, was Adonis.

"**WHO DARES SPEAK OF FANDOM AND PASSION WITHOUT INVITING THE TRUE KING OF IDOL SPIRIT?!**" Koga barked—literally and figuratively.

Adonis sighed deeply. "I told you to knock... or at least *not* crash through the door like a rabid wolf."

Hinata clapped in delight. "Ah! Perfect timing! We were just talking about Raito Hikari—the biggest Rei fan since forever!"

Koga froze mid-pose. His ears twitched.

"**A WORTHY CHALLENGER?!**" he howled. "**NO ONE CAN OUT-FAN THE LOYALTY OF A TRUE PACK LEADER LIKE ME—WAIT... IS HE STRONGER THAN MY DEVOTION TO ADONIS?!**"

Adonis pinched the bridge of his nose as Kaoru burst out laughing.

"Relax," Kaoru said between giggles. "Your loyalty's safe—for now."

Rei just stared blankly at the chaos unfolding around him... wondering if that third sneeze meant **his soul was actually leaving his body from sheer secondhand embarrassment.**

And somewhere on campus...

Tsukki paused while dragging Raito to class.

"...You really shouldn't have kept that autograph under your pillow," he muttered darkly.

Raito groaned.

"*Too late now.*"

After the final bell, Raito and Tsukki gathered their things and followed their homeroom teacher down the sunlit hallway of Yumenosaki Academy.

"Alright, you two," the teacher began cheerfully. "Since you're new here, I'll show you around before club activities start. First stop—the main building layout."

Raito skipped slightly beside her, eyes sparkling with curiosity as he looked around at the spacious hallways adorned with student artwork and posters for upcoming performances.

"Wow! The school's so big... and it even has ocean views!" he exclaimed.

Tsukki walked silently behind him, hands in his pockets, scanning every corner like a shadow memorizing its territory.

The teacher smiled. "Yes! And just over here are some key spots: music practice rooms, theater hall—used daily by our top idol units—and right through that arch is the courtyard where students often hang out during breaks."

As they passed near one open door marked *"Idol Prep Studio 3,"* muffled harmonies drifted out—clearly a group practicing choreography inside.

Raito perked up. "Ooooh—are those other idol trainees?"

"Just some second-years running through a new routine," said the teacher proudly.

Tsukki glanced in briefly... then frowned slightly at what—or *who*—he saw inside.

"...Isn't that Mao from Trickstar?"

And indeed—through the glass window—they spotted Mao leading his group in rehearsal under golden late-afternoon light.

A quiet smirk tugged at Tsukki's lips—one so small only Raito could notice it.

"He must've forgotten we transferred today..."

Then to himself: *"Looks like our little rooftop ambush wasn't unnoticed after all."*

Meanwhile...

Mao suddenly sneezed mid-dance move.

"—Huh?!"

His teammates paused.

"You good?" Hokuto asked dryly.

"...Yeah." Mao rubbed his nose suspiciously. "...I just feel like someone's plotting against me."

And back on patrol:

Koga suddenly lifted his head mid-nap on campus grounds — ears alert.

"**...I sense intense fan energy nearby...**"

Adonis didn't even look up from polishing his shades.

"That's just your imagination—or indigestion."

The teacher missed Tsukki's smirk and led them onward, still enthusiastic about the school atmosphere.

"This place is buzzing with young talent and dreams," she said proudly. "Yumenosaki Academy is known far and wide as a haven for aspiring idols."

Raito nodded, absorbing the information with starry eyes. "I can *feel* the passion in the air!"

Tsukki kept pace silently, keeping his attention half on their teacher and half on the school's layout. *"No wonder,"* he mused to himself.*"...This whole place is basically a breeding ground for idols."*

The group passed by an array of student performance boards, each displaying photos and bios of different units. Some were solo acts or small groups; others boasted more members, like Trickstar and UNDEAD.

Raito gawked at the sheer variety. "Whoa! Everyone's so unique and talented!" he exclaimed.

Tsukki's eyes flickered over the display, pausing briefly on the images of more well-established units.

"Some more than others," he commented quietly under his breath.

"Ah!" The teacher suddenly remembered, stopping in her tracks. "Almost forgot!"

She pulled two forms from her bag and handed them to Raito and Tsukki.

"Since you're joining us mid-semester," she explained, "you'll need to choose a club to join. Fill out this form with your top three preferences."

Raito's eyes brightened with anticipation. "Oooh! It's club signup time!"

Tsukki glanced at the form, silently weighing his options.

Raito gaped at the paper when he heard the connection to the legendary idol, Rei Sakuma. His excitement surged.

"Rei Sakuma was in the light music club?!" he exclaimed, practically vibrating with fanboy energy.

The teacher chuckled, amused by Raito's reaction. "That's right. Rei Sakuma was indeed the club captain before graduating—a truly iconic figure in the light music club's history."

Tsukki rolled his eyes slightly at Raito's excitement. "*Here we go..."*

"He was considered one of the finest singers and guitarists in the school," the teacher continued, still with a touch of pride. "Many students aspired to follow in his footsteps."

Raito's eyes were practically sparkling now, imagining himself on stage like his idol.

Tsukki, however, gave his newly-formed club choice some side-eye. "*So much for quiet...*," he thought. "What about you Raito? Which club did you pick?"

"Me? Uh..." Raito hesitated, his pen hovering over the form.

He glanced at Tsukki with a sheepish grin. "I kinda... already picked *the same one* as you!"

Tsukki blinked. "...What."

"I mean, come on!" Raito laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head. "If Rei Sakuma was there—then maybe I can feel closer to his legacy! Plus... we're a duo now, right? Shouldn't we stick together?"

Tsukki stared at him for a long beat—deadpan, unamused.

Then sighed.

"...So instead of escaping your fanboying," he muttered dryly, "you followed me into it."

Raito grinned wider. "Call it destiny!"

Somewhere across campus...

Rei sneezed again—*violently* this time.

Adonis paused mid-stride near the gate.

"...You okay?"

Rei straightened up slowly, eyes narrowed toward the horizon like he sensed something ominous in motion.

"...No," he said quietly. "*Something truly dangerous has begun.*"

The group's tour was detoured when they bumped into the imposing figures of the UNDEAD members—Rei Sakuma, Kaoru, Koga, and Adonis—looming on a staircase.

The teacher beamed brightly, clearly honored to be in the presence of the legendary idols. "Rei! Kaoru! Koga! Adonis! What a delightful surprise to have you visiting!"

The idols of UNDEAD regarded the group with their usual cool, poised demeanor. Kaoru's eyes immediately fell on Raito and Tsukki's direction.

Tsukki tensed as Kaoru's eyes flickered in his direction, anticipating some kind of comment or joke at his and Raito's expense.

Kaoru gave them a sly grin that spelled trouble. "Look what we have here... Newbies?"

Tsukki shot Raito a sharp, warning look. "*Raito. Better not do anything embarrassing.*"

Raito, however, was already frozen—eyes wide, face pale—as he stared at *Rei Sakuma*, standing just steps away in all his legendary glory.

His pen dropped. His breath hitched.

And then—like a switch flipped—he exploded into motion.

"**REI-SAN!!!**" Raito lunged forward with tearful sparkles in his eyes (yes, *actual sparkles*), arms outstretched in pure fangirl devotion—"You're even more radiant in person! Your aura! Your presence! I've listened to every song—watched every performance—you're my idol and my inspiration and I—"

**THUD.**

Tsukki yanked him back by the hood of his uniform like a dog on a leash... except faster.

"*We're leaving,*" Tsukki deadpanned, already dragging Raito backward down the hall as if nothing happened.

But it was too late.

Kaoru burst out laughing. Koga howled with joy ("**A TRUE FAN! HE IS WORTHY OF THE PACK!**"). Adonis smirked behind his shades—and even Rei blinked once... then slowly raised one elegant hand to pinch the bridge of his nose as if feeling an ancient curse awaken inside him.

"...So this is what that third sneeze meant," Rei muttered solemnly to himself. "My soul is truly doomed."

Tsukki successfully hauled Raito away, Raito still flailing and exclaiming compliments over his shoulder.

The teacher watched them go with a mixture of bewilderment and concern.

Kaoru snickered, wiping away laughter tears. "Rei must be thrilled to have such an *enthusiastic* new fan."

Rei lowered his head in silent agreement. "This is going to be a *long* school year."

Adonis gave a quiet hum of agreement. "At least the new students have good taste."

Koga grinned from ear to ear. "That fangirl's passion is admirable."
