Chapter 89 - Chapter 88

Inside Harith's house, Ain looked around.

"It really looks like a celebrity's home—there are even photos of the owner on the walls," she remarked softly.

Harith emerged from his room after changing his clothes and spotted Ain standing in front of a large portrait of himself.

He walked toward her. "What would you like to eat? I can cook something for you," he asked.

Ain glanced at him.

"Whatever you want to make is fine," she replied, her tone indifferent.

Ain walked over to the sofa in the living room and sat down.

Harith tried to keep his expression neutral, despite the cold way Ain was treating him.

"In that case, I'll make noodles with vegetables, chicken, and beef. Feel free to watch something on TV while you wait," Harith said, before heading into the kitchen.

A notification chimed; Ain pulled her phone from her handbag and opened the message.

"My lady, Syaf has gone missing. I've tried calling and searching for her, but I can't find her anywhere," she read—a message from Dian.

Ain's mind raced. "Syaf is missing... where could he have gone?" she wondered, a wave of worry washing over her.

"Today is November 17th there's a big sale at the supermarket," a voice announced from the television.

"The 17th..." Ain checked the calendar on her phone. "It's my birthday—and the anniversary of my father's passing," she noted.

She switched off her phone. "I completely forgot today was the 17th. Could Syaf have gone to visit my father's grave? But the weather... it looks like it's about to rain," she thought.

Ain grabbed her handbag and stood up, heading toward the exit. "Where are you going?" Harith asked.

Ain stopped and turned to face him.

"I have something important to take care of,"

she said.

Harith set his spoon down on a small table.

"More important than me?" he asked, his voice tinged with disappointment.

Ain couldn't bring herself to answer. A heavy silence fell between them. Ain walked toward Harith, peeked into the kitchen, and saw that the noodles were already prepared.

Noticing the sadness on Harith's face, Ain placed her handbag on the table. "I'll leave after I've eaten what you've cooked, okay?" she said, trying to comfort him.

The sadness and disappointment vanished from Harith's expression. "Thank you. It seems I'm important to you after all," he remarked.
