Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Forbidden Moonlight

The night was alive with silence. In the depths of Duskvale Forest, a pale figure glided through the trees like a whisper. Selene's skin shimmered faintly beneath the silver moon, her crimson eyes searching the shadows.

She was a vampire, daughter of the Bloodveil Coven. Her kind fed on secrecy, bound by ancient rules that forbade them from straying into wolf territory. Yet Selene was restless. Centuries of obedience had left her yearning for freedom—just one taste of a world beyond her cage of traditions.

But freedom always came with danger.

A low growl shattered the night air.

Selene froze. From between the trees, a man emerged—tall, broad-shouldered, his amber eyes glowing like fire. He was no ordinary man. The aura around him crackled with primal energy, and even in human form, his presence was unmistakable.

Kael. Alpha of the Silverfang pack. Enemy of her kind.

"Vampire," he said, his voice rough and commanding. "You don't belong here."

Selene tilted her chin, refusing to show fear. "And yet, here I am."

He stepped closer, the moonlight striking his face, carving shadows across his sharp jaw and strong features. Wolves and vampires had been at war for centuries—his duty was to end her life here and now. Yet something in her eyes stopped him.

They glowed not only with hunger, but with loneliness.

"Leave," Kael growled, though his voice faltered.

"If you wanted me gone," Selene said softly, "I would already be dead."

A silence settled between them, heavy and unspoken. Predator and prey. Enemies. But in that fragile moment, something else lingered—an invisible thread neither of them understood, but neither could deny.

The moon bore witness as the wolf and the vampire stood on forbidden ground, bound by something far more dangerous than hatred.

Something that felt like fate.
