~ Author's POV here (missed me?)
"What if Roushi isn't really your son?"
Mo Yi's voice was quiet but reached Yichen, who was trying to bathe Roushi with a sound mine, repeating in his head that he was capable of doing this small thing.
Mo Yichen didn't answer.
His back was rigid, his shoulders tensed under his shirt. He continued to bathe the small, quiet child in the tub gently, his movements stiff and mechanical, like a robot. The steam from the warm water enveloped the whole bathroom, but it still felt icy.
Roushi, on the other hand, continued to play with the building blocks in the tub, totally oblivious to whatever was happening.
Mo Yi pressed on, her mind working on theories, like a small detective connecting the dots. "Zhu Ri didn't just abandon Roushi because she's a monster. What if she had no choice? What if she's running from someone? She seemed terrified when she was forced to leave."
