Leaves on a tree branch cycling through autumn colors on a small local section while the rest of the tree remained summer green. The sound of insects at the wrong frequency for the light level, as if the insects were operating on a time cycle that didn't match the sun.
"Don't look at the individual anomalies too long," Morgana said, after Seraphina had spent several seconds watching a small stream section where the water appeared to be flowing in two directions simultaneously. "The mind wants to resolve the inconsistency. It can't. Looking longer doesn't help and wastes attention you need for other things."
Seraphina pulled her gaze away from the stream. "Does it affect our navigation?"
