Chapter 100: Oscar's Breakthrough
The next morning, the Shrek students arrived at the cafeteria, yawning.
"By the way, did you guys hear the noise outside the city yesterday? It was such a terrifying aura. I guess at least two Soul Saints were fighting."
Ma Hongjun spoke with a look of lingering fear about the terror of the Hammer Hunt battle.
Ning Rongrong curled her lips in disdain. "My family's Title Douluo sparring is just like that. What's a Soul Saint?"
Tang San sat at the table, silently drinking porridge with a dark expression. He didn't participate in their conversation. The feeling of losing something important still lingered in his heart, and it wouldn't go away.
After the soul fight yesterday, the Fatty wanted to go to the brothel with Dai Mubai, but after a careless slip of the tongue—"My taste is much better than yours!"—Xiao Cat couldn't stand it and had a quarrel with him. The group left in bad spirits.
So until now, the atmosphere was rather gloomy. It was thanks to Fatty's jokes that everyone was able to eat breakfast in silence.
The bell rang again with a "dong, dong, dong" sound, and the group hurried to the playground.
Flander's shoehorn face appeared before them again.
He scanned the student lineup and then frowned slightly.
"Where is Oscar?"
Tang San then remembered that Oscar, who shared a room with him, seemed to still be cultivating.
"Dean, I saw Oscar still cultivating when I woke up, so I didn't wake him up."
"Mm, Hongjun, go call him down for the assembly."
"Yes, Dean."
Before Fatty could do anything, Oscar's voice came from the direction of the dormitory.
"No need, Dean. I'm here."
"Good boy, didn't run enough yesterday with those 20 laps? Then today you can run 40 laps with Ning Rongrong. The young lady said she would make it up today."
Ning Rongrong snorted but didn't argue. Forty laps? Easy.
"Dean, I was late because I was breaking through my soul power. I'm at level 30 now."
"Oh? Good job. A 14-year-old Auxiliary Soul Master at Soul Ancestor rank, not bad, not bad!"
Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu didn't show it on their faces, but they were a bit surprised inside.
After all, Oscar didn't have the help of his brother's elixirs for cultivation. Having this kind of cultivation at this age was impressive. If he had been born in Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, he would likely be a Soul King by now.
"Oscar, what was your innate soul power level?"
Yesterday, when Ning Rongrong had exploded in anger, although it had disappointed him, his admiration for her had not completely died. Hearing the little princess ask, he happily patted his chest.
"I'm a genius with innate full soul power."
"Innate full soul power?"
"Really?"
Listening to their conversation, Tang San's eyes gradually became sharper. There was indeed a reason why the teacher had sent him to this academy. Not to mention the numerous teachers, just looking at these students—each one was extraordinary. The top-level White Tiger and Phoenix Soul Masters, and now, an Auxiliary Soul Master with innate full soul power.
Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu, though surprised, didn't say anything like in the original story, that it was impossible for an Auxiliary Soul Master to have innate full soul power. After all, her brother was much more of a freak than this guy.
Flander, happy for Oscar, clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention.
"Since Oscar has broken through, today's lesson is canceled. Prepare yourselves. Today, I'll have Teacher Zhao take you for a Soul Hunt."
"Thank you, Dean!"
Oscar said excitedly, looking forward to his third soul ring.
The other students had no objections and dispersed to adjust their states. After all, the Star Dou Forest was not a place to relax your guard.
Only Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu looked indifferent. Ning Rongrong always had Title Douluo leading when going there, and Xiao Wu was from that area, so how could she feel nervous?
The two sisters, hand in hand, found Zhu Zhuqing, planning to invite her to go to Soto City for a stroll.
"Zhuqing, Rongrong and I are going to look at some clothes in the city. Do you want to come?"
Through their conversation, they learned that Zhu Zhuqing was a few months younger than them. When they first found out, the two girls called it unfair. Why did you grow meat in the right places and still not call her elder sister?
"You guys go ahead. I don't have much time left, I need to focus on cultivation."
The two exchanged glances and looked at Zhu Zhuqing walking towards the small forest. They couldn't quite place the feeling in their hearts.
"She's making us look so lazy!"
"Yeah, and she says she doesn't have much time. If she doesn't want to hang out with us, she should just say it."
Rongrong, watching the retreating figure, stomped her foot in frustration.
From a distance, Ning Bei looked at the scene and couldn't help but laugh. Couldn't it be that the two of you are really lazy, and not that you look lazy compared to her?
This was also why Ning Bei hadn't given the magical herbs to the two girls yet. They didn't have much enthusiasm for cultivation, and once they were given the herbs, they would be even worse.
He needed to think of a way to spark some motivation in these two greedy girls so they wouldn't turn into a waste of good potential.
Though the two girls were somewhat irritated by Zhu Zhuqing's diligence, they still had good intentions and packed some food for her. After all, the academy's food was really lackluster.
They arrived at the small forest and saw Xiao Cat practicing soul techniques on a tree stump.
"Zhuqing, time to eat. Eat first, then practice."
Xiao Cat turned and looked at the two, not refusing. She came over and took the food.
"Thanks!"
The two waved their hands, signaling that it was no trouble, watching her eat.
"By the way, Zhuqing, why are you working so hard?"
Zhu Zhuqing's movements paused for a moment.
"To survive. I can't stop cultivating for a second. I don't have the talent like you two. I'm sure you worked hard in your sect too, otherwise, you wouldn't have this cultivation level."
Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu smiled awkwardly. Their cultivation and talent couldn't really be attributed to hard work, but rather something else.
"But why does working so hard for cultivation have anything to do with survival?"
Xiao Cat's gaze gradually dimmed.
"It's the fate of the Zhu family of Xing Luo. I can't change it."
"Zhu family of Xing Luo?"
Rongrong's exclamation left Xiao Wu confused.
"What's wrong with the Zhu family, Rongrong?"
Ning Rongrong looked at Xiao Wu with disdain. "You should've listened in class, instead of daydreaming. The sect's lessons covered the major forces on the continent."
Seemingly sensing what her friend was thinking, Xiao Wu awkwardly smiled.
"I was dozing off in class, okay? Tell me about it."
"The Zhu family is a great noble family of the Xing Luo Empire. Every generation, the direct descendants of the Zhu family will be married to the royal family."
"Doesn't that make them royal relatives? That sounds great!"
"Do you still want to listen or not? Don't interrupt me."
Ning Rongrong shot a look at Xiao Wu.
"Okay, I won't interrupt, go on."
"The royal relatives are indeed great, but the Xing Luo Empire has a cruel rule: only the most outstanding pair of children from each generation can inherit the emperor and empress' positions. The other brothers and sisters either die or have their soul power abolished and are reduced to commoners."
"What? How can there be such a brutal rule? Shouldn't siblings help each other?"
Zhu Zhuqing wasn't surprised that Ning Rongrong was aware of her background. Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School had its intelligence network, after all.
