Chapter 1 - Ch 1. Prison break.

Belle Reve, one of the world's most secured supervillain prisons.

Home to notorious monsters like Lex Luthor, King Shark, and occasionally the clown prince of Gotham, Joker.

Such places were no habitat for Ren, a recently awakened meta-human, but after a tragic awakening that took the life of his only sister, he now spent his days in a silicon-coated cell trapped among some of the most vicious criminals the world had seen.

"Day 60."

Using his steel spoon to trace a marking on the cold floor, he muttered listlessly before rubbing the power inhibitor collar around his neck.

"Can't they at least adjust it?"

It wasn't like he minded being held captive; after all, he already knew how dangerous he was, but it still itched like crazy.

"Hey, Micheal..."

Shouting to the armored guard assigned to his cell, he pointed at his collar and continued.

"My neck itches... I need to scratch it."

"Tsk!"

The guard clicked his tongue, a look of annoyance flashing within his high-tech LexCorp visor, but he didn't argue and stabbed on a panel beside his cell.

The perks of being a meta... not a meta-criminal were times like this.

Since he had no reason to harm the guard, they were allowed to indulge him as long as he didn't try anything funny.

"Get up."

Strapping his gun behind him while taking out a tactical dagger, Micheal gestured, slightly wary of him.

"Sure."

The youth smiled and stood up, approaching Micheal with the most honest of intentions.

Micheal, still wary, placed the knife tip directly above his chest and pulled down the collar to allow Ren to scratch his neck.

"Ha."

The youth sighed in relief, his nails scraping against his neck.

Such relief grew into distress as a powerful tremor shook the very foundation of Belle Reve.

"What the—"

A sudden blackout temporarily shut down all the machines, and the whole building was engulfed in darkness.

"A breakout."

Micheal, unaware of this, tried grabbing his communicator only for his head to be bashed in, and he fell to the ground not as a corpse... just temporarily immobilized.

"Sorry, bro, but I'm out of here."

Ren didn't fancy himself a villain, but he wasn't going to let this opportunity go by.

Removing the power inhibitor from his neck, his eyes glowed a faint red, and he crouched, looting the gun and knife from Micheal.

As he stepped out of his cell, more tremors revolted through the very foundation of the building.

It was followed by loud and haunting sirens, the laughter of the crazed, and finally the crimson light that denoted an emergency lockdown.

Stepping into the dimly lit hallway, now lit red, Ren scanned around, walking as his fellow prisoners also stepped out of their cells.

The likes of King Shark went the extra mile and bit off the head of the guards that tried to stop them.

"Yuck!"

Ren, having a low tolerance for gore, watched helplessly as the humanoid blue shark lunged at more of the soldiers, its jaws and claws ripping them into a bloody mess.

Other meta-criminals also activated their powers to fend off the guards, tearing through them with minimum effort, leaving the hallway covered with pools of blood.

"Let's get out of here before Big Blue and his pals arrive."

"Big Blue ain't got shit, we got Metallo. You know, the robot full of kryptonite."

"I ain't risking it, pal."

Before long, the hallway was a flood of villains, running through the bloody floors, each desperate to make it out before the likes of the Justice League or the Teen Titans showed up.

Ren was equally desperate, not only because he feared the heroes but also because the gore was sickening.

"Shit..."

He was shoved aside by a large talking gorilla, causing him to stumble sideways and hit the wall hard.

The knife he carried fell into the stream of blood, and he wasn't going to take it back, so he resolved himself to only use the gun.

Joining the fleeing crowd once more, they finally made it out where a barricade of soldiers stood, their guns ready and locked on them.

"Fall back."

Amanda Waller, who had recently lost weight, led the army with her iconic woman's suit, her right arm stretched forward as a signal to them to surrender.

"You are out of your league, Wall."

Lex Luthor, packing powerful electromagnetic gauntlets, imitated her actions and fired off two consecutive beams of light that aimed at the soldiers.

"Tsk."

Before the beams could hit, three spheres fell from the sky, rotating before the soldiers and forming a holographic shield that fended off the beams.

A collision of power tore through the earth, igniting a shockwave that shook the land.

As it subsided, a dark-skinned man with a T-shape plastered on his face hovered in the air via standing on two black spheres.

"Terrific!" Luthor winced in annoyance.

"Heh."

The man, proclaiming himself as the third smartest man, grinned and clenched his fist, summoning more of his T-spheres.

"Livewire, power me up."

Luthor, having an ally, commanded a pale-skinned, blue-haired woman behind him.

Following his order, her body sparked into static blue lightning and merged with Luthor's gauntlets.

Planting his feet into the ground, a metal man with a kryptonite heart guarded him as Mr. Terrific unleashed a torrent of his T-spheres at them.

While the hero and villains clashed, a few sneaky ones like Ren found their way about the chaos and branched into escape routes.

Mr. Terrific was no slouch, but Ren and many others knew he wasn't the main appetizer.

He was a distraction for the likes of Luthor to fall for.

Of course, the infamous Lex Luthor wasn't stupid either; he probably had a backup in case he lost to Mr. Terrific, but Ren wasn't going to stand there like an NPC in awe.

Right now, thank to everything thing, he was free from the cell and torture.

And he'd be damned to let them take away that.
