Chapter 1 - C-000: Rekindle the Life Anew

"GO! GO! THIS WAY!" I shout, ushering the evacuees to a transport vehicle out of the city laid barren by the honkai, or so they called it. I look back, zombies running and attacking our forces--some are normally infected, while some are more deadly... Mostly having weapons such as scythes and bows.

Looking at the situation, I aim my gun, shooting normal infected down, dwindling their numbers while the more nimble and dangerous infecteds slowly advances--as if they know that it's only a matter of time before they can kill us.

I keep on shooting as the last of the evacuees enter the transport vehicle. Our remaining forces move, slowly backing away as we shoot down the infected, nimble and dangerous or normal. The soldiers near the hangar gate move in first, before the others move in and finally I run in, our guns continuously firing at the infected as the hangar gate closes.

"Fuck! I thought we were done for..." One of us mutters, their voice shaky as they breathe out, trying to calm themselves. The others mutter as they talk, their conversations likely to ease their worries and calm their nerves. Eventually, I join the conversation, trying to keep myself calm by not talking about the situation.

I really thought we were out of danger....

But fate simply has other plans that day.

As we continue to converse, the aircraft suddenly shakes, and the pilot's voice echoes through the speakers, "We are being attacked by a swarm! I repeat, we are being attacked by a swarm!" The voice shouts through the speakers--alert yet calm--which ensues more chaos among the evacuees as the white wing-blades of the seraph-classes, damaging the aircraft.

The evacuees simply converge to the middle as the seraph-classes attack the aircraft. Our forces quickly move, shooting at the seraph-classes. However, their sheer number and durability is simply overwhelming our already dwindled down forces.

And suddenly...

BOOOM!

Something suddenly explodes. "There goes the fucking engine..." One of our soldiers mutters and sighs clicking their tongue and continues on firing at the seraph-classes. The evacuees behind us continue to cry, saying their final words, hugging their loved ones... And yet, there's nothing we can really do to assure them.

"BRACE FOR IMPACT! WE'RE GOING DOWN!!" The pilot shouts through the speakers as the aircraft continues to shake, tilting down and spinning out of control as the engine, once polished, is now dead and on fire.

Our hearing is gone, dead and busted and we're now currently being flung around as the aircraft spins out of control. Our forces are currently being ragdoll around as the aircraft spins uncontrollably through the air, the tail hitting a skyscraper, resulting in it being torn apart.

The others seem to shout, but with our busted eardrums, none can hear anything except for that ringing within our ears.

And then

We crashed.

When I come to consciousness, a surge of pain crashes into me, making me open my mouth, but no sound seems to come out. I feel pain all over my body--within my head, in my ear, my shoulders, my entire body feels like it's in pain, especially my stomach. I look down at it, noticing a massive and sharp piece of the aircraft had pierced my stomach through my back. Luckily, it also reduces the bleeding in that part of my body.

I look at my legs, numb yet full of pain as it's buried under rubble of metal and rock. It was simply luck that I was able to stay conscious for this long...

I look around.

No signs of those seraph-classes...

It's simply unbelievable that I woke up even in these conditions. "Fu--" I try to speak, but the blood in my throat makes me cough instead, making me release these crimson fluid through my mouth, hurting my stomach more.

I look around some more, yet it's all the same... Destruction everywhere, caused by the honkai that invaded our home planet. My breath comes out ragged as my body starts to lose strength. My sight starts to blur and shake as I inevitably start to lose more and more blood.

"Couldn't even... Have some more alone time..." I mutter, jokingly complaining as I look up at the sky, seeing the beautiful starry sky amidst the destruction all around.

I groan, my right hand moving to try and pull the metal scrap stabbed into me to make myself bleed faster, "Shit...! That fucking... hurt..." Yet to no avail as my strength continues to dwindle and fizzle out.

"If there... Really is heaven..." I mutter, my words slurred like that of a drunken man rambling on and on under the moonlit sky, "Then... I hope I get to... Meet my comrades there..." I finish, my blood leaving my body faster, the liquid trickling down to the ground as my consciousness slowly fizzles out. The world around me slowly disappears, leaving me in a dreamlike state as my mind shows me all the memories of my life.

"Aww! Look at that! He's already walking, love!"

Ah... My mother... If only I could've visited her beforehand... Ease her worries a little, talked to her... I just wish that she's safe right now...

"Honey! Look at that! Y/N got great grades!"

"Well, let's go out, shall we?"

Haa... How nice must it feel to be a child once more... Mom... Dad... I hope they're living safely...

As I continue to drown in my memories, my body continues to deteriorate, coughing up blood as my eyelids slowly close over my lightless eyes, gazing at the blue sky for the last time.

The world must've been beautiful... A shame I can't explore it now...

A woman walks through the burning land, smoke rising as flames rage along the cityscape. The woman wears a black mask covering her lower face. Adorning her figure are her clothes consisting of a black leather turtleneck sleeveless crop top under a black zipper jacket with loose sleeves and elbow cut out. Covering both of her arms from below the elbow to her fingertips are black bandages, and over them are black motorcycle gloves. Adorning her lower half is a pair of black cargo pants and a pair of black combat boots.

As she walks through the flaming hell once called a city, her waist-length, layered black hair flows softly through the air. In her hand is a void-like war scythe, its handle like ribbons of darkness spiralling down a shaft of light, devouring it, and leaving behind the blade to glow brightly.

As the black-haired woman walks through the road, she looks around, slashing at honkai beasts as if they're paper.

"They lost to something so weak?" The woman mutters, clicking her tongue at the annoying thought that these people lost to these weak honkai beasts. She rolls her eyes, looking around for something peculiar.

As the woman continues to look around, she spots something, or someone, someone that garners her attention. At the sight of someone so familiar, a grin flashes underneath her mask.

"Isn't that Y/N? Did they fucking die?" She muses, leisurely walking up to the corpse of her once classmate five years ago. The woman's grin never fades as she crouches down to the level of Y/N's corpse, her left index finger and left thumb taking Y/N's chin and tilting their head up for her to see clearly.

The woman's grin softens, "It really is Y/N," she muses, her soft grin turning into a smirk as she grabs them by their neck before standing up. The woman's scythe dematerialized, and with her free hand, she pulls the massive scrap of metal lodged into Y/N's abdomen before pulling their unresponsive corpse closer.

The black-haired woman takes a closer look at Y/N, "Now that I can see it, you've always looked so delicate~" ponders before her lips closes in on the pale skin of their neck. She opens her mouth wide before biting onto the pale and cold skin of Y/N's corpse, her teeth digging deep into the neck of their corpse.

As the black haired-woman pulls away, the bite mark on the corpse's neck suddenly glows, leaving behind a black teeth mark on Y/N's neck where she once bite them.

"Alright then~! Let's have more fun, shall we?" The black-haired woman grins underneath her mask, and the words--like a secret incantation--forces the world to a stop, right before everything starts reversing...

And reversing...

And reversing...

...gnisrever dnA

Five years back into the past...

"FU--" I jolt awake, almost cursing loudly before stopping myself, breathing loudly and erratically as I look around, noticing that I'm in my room. This strange situation only increases my confusion.

What the fuck happened?! I thought I fucking died...

Thoughts of the previous events run through my head. The enlistment into the military, my deployment, the wars against the honkai, rescues and evacuations, and... My death. Everything comes falling into me so suddenly, like it's all trying to crush me under their weight

Fuck.... Calm down! You're already safe... It's just all weird...

I try to reassure myself, trying to think that everything was a massive dream, but every sensation... Every connection... Every emotion in that journey was anything but a dream.

It was as real as my panic and confusion right now. Still, I know that I had to move on, investigate, and do something other than to sit here and panic like a lunatic.

Alright... Focus, you fucking nutcase! You're not on the battlefield! There are no threats! No dangers! You're fucking safe in this goddamn four walls of yours!

I remind myself of my current situation, of where I currently am, of what my current status is. I close my eyes, breathing in deeply, and exhaling quickly and loudly before I pinch my pinky fingernail, the pain grounding me finally.

Fuck! That fucking hurts... But, what now? What time am I even in right now? Is this even real?

As I continue to think, there's one thought, that continues to linger at the back of my mind, a word from my commander.

"DO NOT FUCKING THINK YOU CASES OF FUCKING SHIT! JUST DO IT AND BE DONE WITH IT!"

With those words ringing in my head, I let myself fully calm down, my body finally loosening up as a soft breath exhales from my mouth.

"Now what?" I mutter, looking around the room for any calendars or things where I can see the date, then I look at the bedside table to notice what my phone should be if I remember things correctly. Without a single hesitation, I grab it, opening it to see it locked behind a PIN code.

Riiiiiight..... Fuck, I can't even remember what my PIN code was...

I thought, rolling my eyes before I stand up, stretching my body and jumping for a bit of seconds before putting my phone in one of the pockets of my pajama, letting my body go into autopilot as I try to discern what my PIN code could even be.

Fuck... It should be my birthday... But it could also be something generic... Shit, I really don't remember my PIN code...

With a troubled mind, I continue to do what I had grown accustomed to in the military: fixing my bed, going to the bathroom and doing my business, and among other things. However, as I'm brushing my teeth in front of the bathroom mirror, I suddenly notice something.

It's a black tattoo of a bite mark.

What the fuck?! Since when did I get these?! I don't remember having this kind of tattoos or any tattoos at all back in my school days!

I think to myself as I examine the bite mark tattoo, my lips muttering some incoherent mumblings as I try to scratch, or wash away the black bite mark yet to no avail... I mean, I did expect it to not work, but desperation got me panicking.

Gritting my teeth, I click my tongue as I try to think of any reason why a tattoo of a bite mark suddenly appeared on my neck after returning back in time.

Alright, I have to calm the fuck down first! I gotta think with a clear head to think of any fucking reasonable reasons how and why do I have this tattoo of a bite mark on me!

The thoughts race through my head as my fingers drum against the bathroom sink. Finally, I tilt my head down and breathe, letting my head clear for a moment before looking back up at my reflection, my gaze visibly clear.

"Okay... How the fuck did that shit appear on my neck?" I ask no one in particular, muttering the question more than speaking it to the air. I click my tongue, sighing in exasperation as I scratch my head, my right hand moving to my hips.

After not coming up with any answers, I simply muttered the most obvious question to myself, "Well, I'm not gonna be able to answer that anytime soon so... How the fuck do I hide this?"
