Ironvale City, at a daycare.

After making a decision the night before, Ethan Black got up early and took a vehicle to Ironvale City, intending to carefully choose a small Pokémon for his father and mother.

After a thorough selection inside the daycare, Ethan Black set his eyes on a Machop and a Lotad.

Machop was a humanoid-shaped Pokémon, its body completely gray, with three tile-like objects on top of its head, a tail on its back, and its rib marks visible from its chest. Its muscles were extremely well-developed.

As a Fighting-type Pokémon, Machop was without a doubt the best laborer at any construction site, capable of perfectly performing many human tasks. Ethan Black was sure it would be a great helper for his father.

On the other hand, Lotad had a blue body, a yellow beak, six small blue legs, and a lotus leaf on its back. It was a Water- and Grass-type Pokémon.

Lotad was calm, gentle, and amiable, very similar to his mother's personality. Moreover, it mastered a wide variety of Water- and Grass-type moves, so it could also help with the family's agricultural work.

After finding these two ideal Pokémon, Ethan Black unhesitatingly paid a large sum of money. Then, he stored the Poké Balls and the daycare certificates in his backpack and quickly headed to the bus station.

After several hours of travel, Ethan Black finally returned to Stonefield Town.

"Ethan, where did you go today?" asked Victor Black, smiling as he saw him come in.

"Ethan, I'm glad you're back. Bring out your Pokémon, it's time to eat," said Clara Whitmore, poking her head out of the kitchen with a smile.

"Oh, oh, alright," Ethan Black replied with a smile. He decided to wait until his parents were seated before telling them about the Pokémon.

"Come on everyone, it's time to eat!"

In a flash of white light, several Pokémon appeared. One after another, they opened their eyes wide, staring straight at the kitchen as saliva pooled in their mouths.

Soon, his mother began placing the dishes on the table, a sign that the meal was ready.

Just as everyone was about to begin, Ethan Black stopped his parents. He carefully took out two Poké Balls from his backpack.

"Huh?"

"Do we have new family members?" asked Victor Black with a smile.

"Exactly, these are new members for the family," Ethan Black replied. "But they're not for me, they're for you."

With a mysterious smile, Ethan Black left his parents astonished.

"You're saying they're for us?"

"So that's why you were so mysterious this morning, you went to get these Pokémon! But... we don't want to be trainers. Better keep them for yourself and train them," said Victor Black, recovering from the surprise and waving his hands in refusal.

"Dad, I already have enough Pokémon. Besides, these two don't have the best talent for me to train, I'm not interested in them for my team," Ethan Black explained with a smile.

"Even so, if we don't need them, it's better to return them. Buying two Pokémon costs a fortune," Victor Black insisted.

Seeing his father's determination, Ethan Black shook his head. They couldn't return them. That money was originally meant to buy his parents a house, but since they didn't want to move to the city, using it to buy these Pokémon was the best option.

"Dad, Mom, don't be so quick to refuse. First see these Pokémon, then decide."

Ethan Black smiled helplessly and released Machop. A beam of white light shot from the Poké Ball, taking the form of the sturdy Pokémon.

"This is a Machop?" asked Victor Black, recognizing it immediately.

"Exactly. If you take it with you to work, it'll be a great help," said Ethan Black, smiling as he saw that his father recognized Machop.

This time, Victor Black didn't reject it right away, but showed some hesitation.

Seeing this, Ethan Black smiled with satisfaction and released the second Pokémon: an adorable Lotad.

"Mom, this is Lotad, a Grass- and Water-type Pokémon. It can help a lot with farm work."

After hearing the explanation, Clara Whitmore's eyes lit up.

"What do you think? I didn't buy them as simple pets, but as carefully chosen helpers," Ethan Black added, giving each one a little MooMoo Milk. The two Pokémon squinted happily, showing their docile nature.

"These Pokémon are good, let them stay," said Victor Black, folding his arms and nodding.

"Great!" exclaimed Clara Whitmore. "Do we need to do any paperwork to take care of them?"

"Yes," Ethan Black replied. "I bought them from a licensed daycare, so they have all the papers. In the coming days, you just need to earn their trust and then register them with the Pokémon Trainer Guild."

Both parents nodded in understanding. His mother even followed Ethan Black's advice and began winning them over with her cooking, confident that with her food they would soon accept her.

"Dad, Mom, now try putting them into the Poké Balls," said Ethan Black, seeing that the Pokémon were already delighted. But just as he was about to recall them, Ethan Black suddenly froze.

He looked in surprise at the two Poké Balls in his hand and then at the six Pokémon who had already finished eating and were playing nearby. His eyes slowly widened.

In theory, if he had already released six Pokémon, he shouldn't be able to release more. So why was he now able to bring out Machop and Lotad too...?
