Chapter 25 - 25

At this moment, the battle between Electro Max and Deadpool had ended, and it was clear that Deadpool had been completely defeated.

Of course, it wasn't that Deadpool wasn't strong enough, but that Electro's abilities almost completely countered Deadpool, giving him a clear advantage.

Whether it was immunity to physical attacks or the explosive power of his long-range attacks, they completely nullified Deadpool. Unless Deadpool ran away, he had no way to deal with Electro Max.

Since it was a trade, a bet, Deadpool running away meant admitting defeat.

Admitting defeat meant he had to follow the rules of the trade, otherwise, Li Yue wouldn't let him off!

However, admitting defeat wasn't a big deal for Deadpool; he didn't care about that, only about the money.

Before gaining his mutant abilities, Deadpool was a mercenary who took money to solve problems for others. Later, Deadpool got cancer and was tricked into undergoing some inhuman experimental modifications, after which he gained a host of abilities.

Teleportation, immortality, laser eyes, coupled with his exquisite swordsmanship, made Deadpool almost invincible in close combat. This is also why Li Yue valued Deadpool.

Of course, it would be even more perfect if this guy wasn't such a chatterbox.

Now, having escaped Stryker's control, Deadpool is on his own and has returned to being a mercenary. He takes on tasks for money; as long as there's money, this guy can be said to have the least integrity.

Such a person is very easy to control and utilize. Li Yue isn't afraid of Deadpool having any ulterior motives. Not to mention whether Deadpool can kill him, Electro Max's abilities alone completely counter Deadpool.

Moreover, what Deadpool wants is money, and Li Yue can satisfy him. It can be said that after the release of Noah Corporation's virtual equipment, Li Yue, who owns over half of the shares, is one of the richest people in the world.

Perhaps, in the future, the 'one of' can even be removed.

...

The matter with Deadpool was both accidental and inevitable.

Li Yue knew in his heart that as Noah Corporation grew larger, there would inevitably be many people coveting him. He had been mentally prepared for this from the beginning.

However, he didn't expect things to come so quickly. Before even a year had passed, the people behind the scenes couldn't resist making a move.

Offering a billion-dollar bounty on his head in the underground black market, dead or alive, was an astonishingly large sum.

There were very few forces capable of such power and boldness. After a little thought, Li Yue almost guessed who it was.

It's a very simple principle: if Li Yue dies, who benefits the most?

The answer is the US government!

US law stipulates that if you die, your descendants must pay a high inheritance tax to inherit your estate. For estates over three million, the tax is 55%. The inheritance Li Yue previously received was after-tax.

And if the deceased has no relatives and the estate is unclaimed, then naturally, the estate will be confiscated.

If Li Yue dies, everything Noah Corporation currently owns will be confiscated by the US government. Naturally, all of it will belong to the US government, including the virtual platform.

So, when Li Yue heard Deadpool mention the bounty on the black market, he instantly thought of the US government.

Only they had the financial resources and boldness to do this, and only they could cause his partners to remain silent simultaneously, not leaking a single piece of information to Li Yue.

"None of them are good people!"

Li Yue sneered in his heart. Those partners and cooperating companies were now marked with a big cross in his mind.

He didn't believe that large companies and groups like Google and Stark Group hadn't received any news about the black market bounty. But not a single one of them informed Li Yue. It was obvious that in their hearts, Li Yue's death was better than his life and more in line with their interests.

As long as Li Yue died, they would have various means to carve up Noah Group. As for the government,

They could just give them a piece of the pie.

"I let you participate in this pie, and you're still not satisfied. Then don't blame me for being ruthless in the future!"

A cold glint flashed in his eyes. Li Yue's mind raced with schemes, but his expression remained unchanged. He knew that although he had gained a foothold, he was not yet powerful enough. Those plans all required time.

"I originally thought the first to strike would be either Magneto's Brotherhood or Hydra, but I didn't expect it to be the US government! Heh!"

"However, I can't rule out those two forces. Perhaps they are deliberately misleading me, trying to make me fall out with the US government?"

Standing in the bedroom, Li Yue faced the floor-to-ceiling window. At this moment, his reflection was cast on the glass.

It was a handsome face, mixed East and West, with black hair and black eyes.

Instantly, a realization dawned on Li Yue. He had almost guessed why the US government wanted to target him, and why his 'partners' had been indifferent from the start, watching the show and planning to divide the spoils afterward.

"Perhaps, it's also related to this face!"

A cold smile flickered in his heart. The more Li Yue thought about it now, the more he felt his idea was correct.

Americans, especially white people, have always looked down on Asians. Compared to black people, white people dislike East Asians even more, especially Chinese people.

It's not just in the US; this is largely true throughout Europe as well, because they view East Asians as a threat, a disaster. In fact, at the beginning of the 20th century, the theory of the 'Yellow Peril' reached a peak.

It was during this period that the infamous 'Dr. Fu Manchu' was born.

Whether in novels or movies, the character's image was that of a thoroughly cunning and evil symbol.

This was a typical character used by Western society to demonize Chinese people, known as the 'most evil Chinese man in history'!

The existence of the character Fu Manchu influenced the ingrained perceptions of Chinese people held by Westerners, primarily Americans and British, for 90 years. His notoriety at the time was comparable to Voldemort in 'Harry Potter' today; he was 'known to every household'.

Even in the Marvel universe, there is a major East Asian villain, one of Iron Man's arch-enemies, the Mandarin. (It is said that Fu Manchu also exists, but the author hasn't read those comics and isn't very clear!)

If you study it carefully, you will find how similar the image of the character 'Mandarin' is to 'Dr. Fu Manchu'.

Equally talented, equally noble in birth, equally possessing extraordinary abilities, and equally holding a mindset of wanting to overthrow Western society.

Such a coincidence, hehe, Li Yue would never believe that Marvel Comics on Earth didn't borrow the image and setting of 'Fu Manchu' when creating the villain 'Mandarin'.

It can be said that racial discrimination in the West is very serious. Although with the development of the times and the gradual improvement of people's education levels, such attitudes have gradually dissipated a lot, they are not entirely gone.

Especially in the United States, they advocate freedom and equality, but this country has the most serious racial discrimination.

How ridiculous is that!

Some of the terms we commonly hear used to insult East Asians are the best proof.

And Noah Corporation?

A company controlled by an East Asian mixed-race person, and the virtual equipment is a product invented by a mixed-race person.

So, psychologically, some Americans feel a bit uncomfortable. They might think it would be more perfect if it were a white person.

Although Li Yue's current body is mixed-race, his appearance leans towards the East. In fact, he once saw an article in a newspaper with such a statement.

"It is precisely because of his excellent white bloodline that he can lead such a groundbreaking invention!"

Li Yue doesn't remember which newspaper it was, perhaps a tabloid. After all, major newspapers wouldn't use such obvious discriminatory language.

But what these tabloids report might reflect the psychology of those white people. Ordinary people might not have such thoughts, but those in high positions of power are not necessarily the same.

Politicians, none of them are good people.

"A bunch of disgusting guys!"

Li Yue touched his face, a cold sneer in his heart.

By now, he had pretty much guessed it.

Many forces want to acquire Noah Group, and the US government is no exception. And among them, due to certain psychological and interest-based calculations, his 'partners' did not step in to warn him.

The most important point is that Li Yue has made too much money. Wealth moves hearts!

Although Li Yue doesn't have any racial discrimination, since he has guessed that he might be discriminated against, he naturally has no good feelings towards those who discriminate against him.

"It seems the 'Ark' plan needs to be accelerated!"

Standing in the bedroom, Li Yue clasped his hands behind his back, a faint contemplation in his eyes.
