Chapter 122 - Chapter 122

A signal device. Carl explained simply, not intending to hide anything, as it was about to be put to use.

Lusamine looked at the device curiously and asked, "Is this island built by humans?"

Carl shook his head. "No, it's constructed by a legendary creature."

"Creatures building islands?" Lusamine was astonished.

"You know lighthouses, right?" Carl countered.

Lusamine rolled her eyes. "Of course, they're used to guide ships."

"This device is like a lighthouse for the creatures," Carl explained. "It's used for communication. We just need to activate it."

Lusamine suddenly understood, realizing that this wasn't just any beacon Carl was dealing with.

"Do you know how to activate it?" She looked at Carl in surprise, wondering how he knew so much about these devices.

Without answering, Carl turned to Dragonite and said, "Take her up in the air." He remembered the method to activate the meteorite: it required constant contact to make it glow red, eventually summoning Deoxys. It had to be done quickly, or the meteorite would return to its original state.

He reached out to touch the rock but found no response. Did it need a special tool? Carl felt a bit embarrassed. It would be quite a letdown if tools were required.

"Maybe touching it isn't enough," he muttered to himself. "Deoxys is a psychic creature, perhaps it needs a psychic touch?"

With a 'let's see' mindset, he infused the meteorite with psychic energy, also having Cosmog ready to whisk him away if needed.

This time, it worked. The triangular meteorite emitted a red glow and automatically moved to the island's peak.

Carl stood still, releasing more psychic energy. Since the investigation needed to be done from the shortest distance, staying put was the best choice.

But again, it failed. The triangular meteorite remained unmoved, though it didn't return to its starting point either.

"Do I have to walk up to it?" he wondered, switching to a strategic overview, and then walked directly towards the meteorite along the shortest path.

Once close, he released his psychic energy again, and finally, the meteorite reacted. He realized the activation required moving along a specific route.

Repeating the procedure, the light from the meteorite grew stronger and more dazzling until it was blinding.

Suddenly, a buzzing sound filled the air. The meteorite, illuminating the entire island, swiftly returned to its origin. Once Carl returned to his position and released energy, all the light condensed into a beam shooting straight into the sky.

At that moment, meteors worldwide resonated. In the Arctic, hidden in the night, Rayquaza's eyes gleamed with excitement. A shadow undetectable to the naked eye streaked through the sky, tearing clouds to shreds.

Across the ocean in America, a forming tornado suddenly dissipated, along with the forecasted hailstorm.

Unaware of these changes, Carl was focused on deciphering the information transmitted from the meteorite—a star map marked with interstellar routes.

"A guide to space travel?" he chuckled. The much-anticipated Deoxys hadn't appeared, but instead, he received ten star maps he couldn't yet use.

Currently, he lacked the ability for space exploration unless he could acquire the Magma Armor developed by the Lava Team in the Hoenn region, or the oceanic equipment from the Aqua Team. Originally designed to explore the Awakening Shrine, these special suits were theoretically adaptable to space environments.

According to history, the Hoenn region would soon see a young trainer preventing a massive meteorite from crashing into the continent. This region seemed forever caught in a cycle of millennial calamities.

Two thousand years ago, the epic battle between Primal Kyogre and Groudon raged on until a colorful meteor fell at Meteor Falls. The impact not only altered the local landscape but also drew the intervention of the sky ruler, Rayquaza. The Meteonite people were born during this period.

A thousand years later, history repeated itself. A new meteor strike unleashed abundant natural energy, awakening ancient creatures for another round of conflict.

Two thousand years ago, the successors of the Meteonite people prayed to the colorful meteor to quell the battle between Groudon and Kyogre, successfully summoning Rayquaza. It was Rayquaza's first display of mega evolution, resolving the crisis.

Later, the Meteonite people migrated to the meteor's crash site, establishing Sootopolis City, where they built the Awakening Shrine and the entrance to Sky Pillar. The Sky Pillar was constructed to honor the colorful meteorite, located near Sootopolis City.

The Meteonite people's history is recorded on the murals at Sky Pillar. Additionally, their prophets predicted new meteorites would descend a thousand years later, preparing responses for the event. Now, the prophesied time was approaching.

The current successor, Zinnia, would lead humans to destroy the meteorite, eventually needing to summon Rayquaza. However, while she could summon Rayquaza, she couldn't enable its mega evolution, which would ultimately require the timely intervention of fate.

Notably, in Mt. Chimney lies a meteorite that can trigger Rayquaza's mega evolution. The Magma Armor or Aqua Suit could allow humans to accompany Rayquaza into space, shattering the meteorite and eliminating its threat to the Hoenn region or the entire planet.

Within the meteorite also lay a Deoxys.

"Could every meteorite contain a Deoxys?"

"If the theory of parallel world fusion is true, Deoxys' birth might be more complex than we think."

"In that case, there could be quite a few of them."

"And although they can't individually defeat Rayquaza, they can at least hold their own for a while, right? At least at a quasi-legendary level?"

"That makes this star map even more valuable!"

Carl thought about how his star map could pinpoint Deoxys' home, potentially allowing him to gather them all.

It's not about collecting them like a hobbyist, but rather respecting Deoxys' value for companionship.

"Reuniting them would be a sign of respect."

"It seems I should first study the Hoenn region's situation."

"I remember the president of Devon Corporation, Steven Stone's father, planning to build a special rocket at Mossdeep Space Center. This rocket would use technology akin to the ancient weaponry of Kalos, powered by mega evolution energy, to open a wormhole and divert the meteorite."

"But Zinnia disagreed with this plan, leading to a lot of trouble later on."

"That could be a breakthrough."

"I could find Zinnia or directly contact Steven."

"We'll see when the time comes."

Carl shook his head, realizing he was overthinking the future. He preferred not to worry about it. Instead of dwelling on these thoughts, he should focus on exploring the Crown Tundra.

That place seemed interesting, with a chance to encounter quasi-legendary or even mythical creatures.

"Looks like today's not the day."

Seeing the light on the meteorite gradually fade, Carl prepared to leave. Perhaps Deoxys was in slumber after being defeated by Rayquaza, thus not responding to the signal.
